Led By The Spirit
But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. - Galatians 5:18.
If we are led by the Spirit of God, we are not under the law. This
can be said another way. If we are not being led by the Spirit of God,
then we are striving to meet the conditions of the law. The conditions
that Jesus already fulfilled for us. Instead we need to be led by the
Spirit of God within us. He will lead us to the right place at the
right time to avoid calamity, to avoid trouble, to meet a person who
needs God. When the Spirit of God is in control of our lives, we will
find that life has more meaning and is a lot more exciting.
Talk to you in 2008!

Full Rights
But when the time
had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, to
redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons.
- Galatians 4:4-5 (NIV).
You know, I don’t think it gets any clearer than this. Jesus was
born under the law to redeem those under the law, which was you and me
before we accepted Christ, that we might receive the full rights of
sons.
We, as Believers, are entitled to receive the full rights as
children of God. Jesus died so that we might be God’s children, a part
of God’s family. God gave His only Son so that He might receive us as
His children.
Think about all the others brothers and sisters we have. Those who
are in Heaven. Those on this Earth. Those who are yet to be born.
We are a part of a mighty army of God able to defeat any foe with our Father on our side.

Experience Grace
You who are
trying to be justified by law have been alienated from Christ; you have
fallen away from grace. - Galatians 5:4 (NIV).
When we try to justify ourselves by the law, even after we are
saved, we alienate ourselves from Christ. Why? Because we are not
focusing on what Jesus did for us. Instead we are focusing on what it
is that we must do to be justified in the sight of God. Christ already
paved the way for us to be justified in the sight of God, to be in
right standing with God, through His shed blood. When we focus on what
Christ did, we experience grace.

The Focal Point
Think about Job for a moment. He is a prime example of what most of us look like as New Covenant Believers.
When we see Job in the first chapter of Job, verse five, he offers burnt offerings for his sons just in case they sinned.
He was focused on the sins of him and his family. He was under the Old
Covenant. Jesus hadn't yet died for his sins or the sins of his
family. At that time, burnt offerings provided the only way for Job
and his family to be cleanse of their sins.
We are under the New Covenant. Jesus died for our sins. He took every one of them--past, present and future.
Jesus fulfilled the law for us (Matthew 5:17). We are not required to
fulfill the law any longer. We can't fulfill it. That's why Jesus had
to come. He didn't abolish it. Instead He fulfill all that the law
required through His perfect living. Only Jesus could do that.
But instead of being conscious of our righteousness, our right-standing
with God, through Jesus' shed blood (2 Corinthians 5:21), we are still
focused, like Job, on our sins.
We have a better covenant with better promises (Hebrews 8:6). We are
no longer servants of God. We are children of God. We are adopted
into God's family.
That does not mean that we are engrafted into the Jewish family. It
does not mean that we are now required to fulfill the traditions and
laws of the Jewish faith.
No, we are no longer under the law but under grace (Romans 6:14). We
are under the unmerited, undeserved, unearned favor and blessings of
God.
The blood of Jesus continually cleanses us of our sins, according to
the original Greek of 1 John 1:7-9. It continually cleanses us. Not
once but continually.
Does that mean that we can just go out and sin any time we feel like it?
When we truly understand that we are righteous not because of our works
but because of what Jesus did on the Cross, when we truly believe that
God loved us so much He sent Jesus to die for us, we won't want to sin.
We need to take our focus off our sins, our shortcomings, and turn our eyes on what Jesus did for us.

Without Expectations
The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace. - Psalm 29:11 (NIV).
Isn’t that wonderful to know that God gives us strength and blesses
us with peace? He gives strength and peace to us as presents without
any expectation of us returning the gifts. When a person gives a gift
with no expectation of the other person reciprocating that is the most
loving gift. It is what Jesus did for us on the Cross. Jesus died for
our sins without expectations of return. He gave us the choice to
receive His gift or not.

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. - Proverbs 23:7.
As you think in your heart, so are you. Stop and think about that for
a brief moment. Do you want to become what you have been thinking? If
the answer is no, then it is time to change your thoughts. It is time
to open your mind up to all (not just some, all) of the possibilities
God promised in His Word. All those things that God has laid out for
you. You must seized them, take hold of them, possess them. The only
thing that is keeping you from going higher with God is your own
thinking.

When We Fall...
for though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again, but
the wicked are brought down by calamity. - Proverbs 24:16 (NIV).
Though the righteous man falls seven times, he rises again. Who are
the righteous? We are. We became righteous, in right standing with God,
the moment we accepted what Jesus did on the Cross for us. We became
righteousness because Jesus died for us. Because we are righteous,
though we fall seven times, we will rise again. Whenever we fall, we
know it is not the end because our hope is in Christ and not in our own
abilities.

For with God nothing shall be impossible. - Luke 1:37.
Mary, being pregnant by the Holy Spirit, and Elisabeth, being
pregnant after being barren for many years--those are impossibilities
to us in our natural thinking. Fortunately, God doesn't think the same
way we do. His thoughts are higher than ours, so with Him, nothing is
impossible. We need to start thinking like God. We need to change our
thinking from possibility thinking to impossibility thinking.

Overflowing Flood
For I will pour
water on him who is thirsty, And floods on the dry ground; I will pour
My Spirit on your descendants, And My blessing on your offspring; They
will spring up among the grass Like willows by the watercourses.’ -
Isaiah 44:3-4 (NKJV).
I live in Phoenix, Arizona, so I know what dry ground is. Even
here, though, when we receive a lot of rain as we have several times in
the last month, the ground becomes saturated with water. Many times
the water will overflow onto the streets and sidewalks. Imagine that
is the same thing God does with the dry places in our lives. He floods
them with His blessings. When He does, there is so many blessings in
our lives that they overflow to the our offspring.

What God Means To Me
What does Psalm 23 mean to you? That the Lord is your Shepherd? That He makes you to lie down in green pastures?
For me, it means that the Lord is my Protector, my Comforter, my
Leader. That’s what a shepherd does. He protects. He comforts. He
leads.
When a wolf comes after me, He goes after it. He chases the wolf away.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures. He wants what is best
for me. He doesn’t let me rest in dead, brown, withered, old
pastures. No, He provides me with His best.
He leads me beside still waters because in Him, I am at peace. He
doesn’t want me to worry, to fret, to be afraid, because He is there to
protect me.
He restores my soul. I don’t have to deal with my mind, will and
emotions on my own. He restores them. All I have to do is cooperate.
He leads me. He directs me. He orders my steps. He knows where I
am going and how to get me there safely. Even when I am in my darkest
hours, He is with me. He comforts me. With Him, I have nothing to
fear.
In the presence of my enemies, He prepares a table for me. He
anoints my head with oil. My cup runs over. He blesses me in the
midst of my enemies. He anoints me and blesses me not because I
deserve it but because I am His child and He loves me.
He loves me so much that He makes sure that goodness and mercy are
hunting me down and pursuing me all the days of my life. He made the
way for me to dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
My God is so good to me. He loves me, protects me and watches over
me. He makes sure that I am taken care of. That is how sweet my God
is!
Now what does Psalm 23 mean to you?

If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. - John 15:7 (NIV).
According to this Scripture, if we remain in God’s Word, if we let

will it be given to us? Because if God’s Word is in us, we will not
ask for anything that is not according to His Will.

Hide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble; incline

How many times have you felt tempted to believe that God wouldn’t

If it is against His Will, His answer is no. If it is His Will, the
answer is wait or yes. But when we need Him, our God is always there.

He has every thing covered. This Scripture agrees because it says that

Love Conquers All
Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? - Matthew 6:27 (NIV).
I am a recovering worrier. It is only by the grace and help of my
God that I have started to let go of some of those things that I tried
to control in the past.
Most people who worry are trying to control some aspect of their
lives because the root cause of worry is fear. God’s love, His perfect
love, is the only antidote to fear. Not our love but His.
We must believe in His love, His unfailing love, for us. That is the only way that our fears will subside.

The Only Way
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the
kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in
heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not
prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in
thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them,
I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. - Matthew
7:21-23.
Not everyone in Christian circles is going to Heaven. Not everyone who
is prominent and famous has made Jesus their Saviour. They can walk
the walk. They can talk the talk. Unless they have called upon the
Name of the Lord, though, they are not saved. No amount of good works
and so-called miracles are going to earn them a ticket to Heaven.
Looking to other people, looking to yourself, can lead you down a road
to destruction. Jesus is the only Way to Heaven and the Father. He is
the only Way to have the assurance of going to Heaven when you die.

Who Are You Impressing?
Your opinion of me is nice, but it isn’t necessary.
For many years, I had been obsessed with what people thought of me.
Growing up, I used to exaggerate the events of my life to make
myself sound more exciting. The problem is that eventually people find
out what kind of person you really are.
Now, I am to the point in my life that I am too old to worry about what anyone thinks of me or the way I live my life.
The only opinion I care about is my Heavenly Father’s. Everyone else’s opinions are not relevant.
In school, if a certain group liked something or someone, I conformed my thoughts, my beliefs, to their way of thinking.
There’s only one Person I will conform my thoughts and beliefs to now. Can you guess who? Yes, my Lord.
People can conformed to what is “Politically Correct.” People can
conformed to latest fad in Christianity. People can conformed to the
beliefs of the political leaders. That is their choice, and I respect
that.
However, it is not my choice. I will only conform to the thoughts,
feelings and purposes of my God. In the end, it is God I will stand
before on Judgment Day not the media, not the political leaders, not
even the celebrity of the week.
In light of that, to me, the opinions of everyone one else seem trivial.
Let me leave you will this thought: Who are you trying to impress? God or people?

The Work Belongs To The Lord
And the Lord make
you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all
men, even as we do toward you: To the end he may stablish your hearts
unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of
our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints. - 1 Thessalonians 3:12-13.
The Lord makes us to increase and abound in love one toward
another. The Lord does it! The Lord establishes our hearts
unblameable in holiness before God. Again these Scriptures say that
the Lord does the work.
Most of us are trying to change ourselves in our own strength, but
the truth is that it is the Lord that does the work. All we must be is
yielded vessels. We must cooperate with Him and trust that He knows
what He is doing. God isn’t worried, so why should we be?

Increasing Our Increase
“I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase” (1 Corinthians 3:6).
God gives us increase. It isn’t our jobs because they can fail us.
It isn’t our bank account because it can dwindle. Only God can
increase us. Only God gives us promotion. He is the only One who can
truly move us from our present level to the next level and then the one
after that. It is our job to allow Him to.
Many times, we try to make the puzzle pieces of our lives fit
together. We mess things up in our own lives. Then we want God to
straighten out our messes. Wouldn’t it be better for us to just let
God increase us in His way in His time?

Connect Every Day
“My voice shalt
thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my
prayer unto thee, and will look up” - Psalm 5:3. To start our
days, we need to connect with our God. That’s the only way to make it
through our days victoriously. It’s imperative that we pray every
morning, that we keep our eyes focused on our Lord. When we take our
eyes off of Jesus, like Peter, we start to sink. If we keep our eyes
on our Lord, we will never sink. He will never allow us to fall.

Our God, Our Guide
But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and

Every day, whether we realize it or not, we are being guided
carefully by our God. He is guiding us along the path that we should
go. He is instructing our spirits and ordering our steps. The same
cannot be said for the children of darkness. We should be grateful

Point To The Cross
Jesus
straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one
condemned you?” “No one, sir,” she said. “Then neither do I condemn
you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.” - John
8:10-11 (NIV).
This woman, who had been caught in the very act of adultery, didn’t
receive condemnation from Jesus. And this was before Jesus died.
Jesus has been judged for all our sins–past, present and future.
Our sins have been paid for. Therefore there is no need for us to live
under condemnation. Now, we can live, just like the adulteress woman,
without condemnation.
Next time the devil tries to bring up your past sins, you point him to the Cross where Jesus paid for all your sins.
Jesus shed His blood so that you might be in right-standing with God
through Him (II Corinthians 5:21). When we continue to live under
condemnation, we are not accepting Jesus’ free gift in full.

What Would Happen?
“Let each of you
esteem and look upon and be concerned for not [merely] his own
interests, but also each for the interests of others” (Philippians 2:4,

Today on the news, I heard about a set of parents who taught their

receiving toys on Christmas. In response to this, the child started
raising money for toys for underprivileged children.
Can you imagine what would happen if we, as adults, would take this child’s lead and think of others rather than ourselves?

Picture It...
Do you remember Sophia on the Golden Girls? When she wanted to tell a story, she would say "Picture it..."
Picture it. Imagine Jesus nailed to the cross. He has been beaten to
the point where his skin hung on the whip. His hands and feet were
nailed with big stake nails. A crown of thorns dug into His head.
Now imagine Him with the weight of all our sins on Him. Not just yours
and mine, but those of every person in history, in the past and yet to
be born.
In addition to that, He had shingles, migraines, cancer, chicken pox,
stretch marks, hives. Every sickness and disease that could every come
upon you.
He also had bi-polar and mental illness on Him as He hung there.
Imagine all that Jesus went through on that cross for you. All He went through to save you, heal you and delivered you.
And yet Jesus, while under all that distress, said, "It is finished."
It is finished. Everything that we require in this live has been
provided for you when Jesus died for you. He even overcame death for
you by raising from the dead.
Now, imagine how many days you go without remembering what Jesus did
for you? I challenge you to take the time to thank Jesus every day for
what He did for you.

God, Our Rewarder
But I said, “I
have labored to no purpose; I have spent my strength in vain and for
nothing. Yet what is due me is in the LORD’s hand, and my reward is
with my God.” - Isaiah 49:4 (NIV).
How many times have you felt that you have labored to no purpose?
That you have spent your strength in vain? For nothing? Yet God sees
everything we have done for Him. He sees every time we have been kind
to someone, encouraged someone, gave to someone unselfishly, shared the
Gospel and so forth. God is our Rewarder. Not man. Thank God, He is
because man is not as generous as our God.

Light To The World
When Jesus spoke
again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever
follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of
life.” - John 8:12.
Jesus is the light of the world. And because we have accepted
Christ, we are in Christ. We are to be as Christ is in this earth. If
Jesus is the light of the world, then we are to be a light to the
people on this earth. We are to show them the love of God through our
words and actions. When people see us, do people want what we have?
If the answer is no, then we need to work with God concerning this.

Never In Lack
Jesus replied, I am the Bread of Life. He
who comes to Me will never be hungry, and he who believes in and
cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me will never thirst any more
(at any time). - John 6:35 (AMP).
Jesus is the Bread of Life. When we believe in, cleave to, trust in
and rely on Him, we will not hunger or thirst any more at any time.
This doesn’t just mean spiritual. When Jesus is your Supplier for all
your needs, spiritual and physical, you will not be in lack.

In The Den Of Lions
…for he is the
living God, and steadfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall
not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end. He
delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in the heaven
and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions -
Daniel 6: 25-2.
Even when we are in the pit, surrounded by so many lions that we
feel their breath hot on our necks, God still sees us. He still knows
where we are. And if we stay close to Him, if we believe in Him and
His promises, He will deliver us. He will rescue us. He will even
work signs and wonders on our behalf in order to deliver us from the
mouths of those hungry, angry lions.

Why Doubt?
"And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and
said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?"
(Matthew 14:31).
When God promises us something in His Word, or He speaks it to our
spirit, how many times do we doubt that it will come to pass? How many
times do we laugh at the promise of God like Sarah?
Instead we need to put our trust, our faith, in God's Word. We must
believe (To have confidence in the truth or value of something) that
God will do what He said He would.

We Are Equipped
I am the Lord; there is no other God. I have equipped you for battle, though you don’t even know me, - Isaiah 45:5 (NLT).
God equipped us for battle when we didn't even know Him. He equipped
us when we were lost in our way and our own thinking. God saw us in
the future. He equipped us for the battle we would endure now. He
loved us that much because He knew that one day we would be His.
