MY SHORT STORY
Jim and Judy lived in the same town, which everyone called the buckeye state, Ohio. They met got married and had twin girls, their names were Betty and Bonnie. Jim and Judy had a good job and a great savings account. So they decided to buy a small farm just a few miles from their job. They knew the twins would just love it. A big brick house with a lot of land. The girls could have all kind of animals. So they purchased the farm. The girls were so happy, now they could ride the bus to school. Everyone knew them as the B. B. Twins. They are a Christian family, and attend Church often. Now, a new beginning for the family. When Betty awoke, she said to herself, this is Saturday and I've been thinking about visiting our neighbors. So Betty runs into Bonnie room and wakes her. Oh, Bonnie get up and get dressed, then we'll eat our breakfast, because we are going visiting. After breakfast was over, they told their Mom, so off they went down the road. They visited and visited. Betty said, well we have met some good neighbors. Don't you just love living here on the farm, I sure do, said Bonnie. Betty said, lets sit down and rest for a few minutes we have walked a long way. Bonnie said ok, don't think Mom will be worried about us. They were pondering on what they would major in after graduation. Betty said, I would like to be a nurse then I could help those that are sick. I feel so sorry for Mrs. Hanes, the lady we just left. She has no one to care for her. Bonnie said, how could you be of any help, if you worked in the Dr. office and hospital. Betty spoke softely and said, you know I would love to be a home health nurse, then I could go to the homes and take care of their needs. Bright eyed Bonnie spoke up and said, Gee! that would be the perfect job for you, as you are a very caring person. Well, said Betty what would you like to major in. Bonnie paused for a moment, and glanced out over the field, as she loved the outdoors, working in the field. Bonnie looked Betty straight in the eye, and was smiling and said I always wanted to get married, be a Mother and live on a farm, as I so enjoy the beauty of God's creation. Betty looked at Bonnie in amazement, a twinkle in her eye and a shy grin. She said, I knew you were going to say that, I always felt you would never leave this farm. Bonnie said, we'd better get started home, as Mom may be worried about us. Betty smiled, and with a flash they jumped to their feet and off they went. They knew there wasn't much time to waste, as this was Church night. They just made it in time for supper and to get dressed. Betty said, Mom we had a great time visiting some of our neighbors, all were very nice. They all asked about you and Dad, where you both worked and what City we were from. Bonnie said, some of them said if we needed any help on the farm, just give them a call. Judy said, girls that was very nice of them, wasn't it. They said, sure was. THE BOYDS TAKING A WALK ON THE FARM
Jim said to Judy, lets take a short walk across the field, she said great, we can stroll down to the lake while we are here. Judy, was in awe what she saw, so many beautiful wild flowers and all kind of birds flying free. Gee, Jim said, look at the pretty rocks, so many different shapes, we will come back when we have more time and gather some of those and make a pretty flower bed, would you like that dear, sure would said Judy, We had better get back and fix something to eat, the girsl will be home soon, I know they will be hungry. Also have to get ready for church. The family arrived at church a few minutes before the service started. Betty asked Bonnie what are we singing, she said don't worry, the Holy Spirit will place a song on our heart before the singing starts. When they entered the door, what a surprise they got, a group of new singers were there, which they had never seen before. The family kept looking for a pew closer to the front, finally they found one four rows from the front, on the left side, but usually they sat on the right. Betty kept whispering to Bonnie, we can't sing tonight, with those new singers here, they may be professionals. Bonnie said, we are not to please people, we are singing unto the Lord. So after the service began and the choir had finished, we were called up to sing. Betty told Ann, the piano player, they would sing, " I Came On Business For The King." After the first verse, almost every one began to praise the Lord. The Holy Spirit was flowing from breast to breast. We only sang one song, wanted to give the new singer more time. So our Pastor called the James family, "Don, Dottie, Bob and Billy their two sons" to sing. They really could play music and sing, you could feel the Spirit moving through the crowd. What a rejoicing time everyone was having Praising the Lord. Betty asked someone where they were from, said they had bought the Davis farm, and the Father was a preacher. They sang four songs, and our Pastor asked Don to preach, His sermon was on John 3:16, what a wonderful message said Betty and her family. He has sowed the seed, someone else will water, but God will give the increase. Bonnie said, I hope our Pastor will invite them back. On the way home, all the family were talking about the service how spiritual it was and how everyone enjoyed it. Before going to bed, Betty said to Bonnie, did you notice the James boys, how handsome, I sure did and I hope the family will keep coming back. We must get some sleep, tomorrow is Sunday, have to get up early for Sunday School. Jim and Judy still worked at their job in the city, and also did the farming. The twins were a great help, when they wasn't in school and not busy with other activities. There was a lot of things to do on the farm. Hay to cut, corn to be gathered, to feed the cattle and horses they had purchased. The farm work was hard, but very enjoyable, after living a city life. But they would soon retire, from their jobs, as they had been there for many years, both are looking forward to that. They said, what a blessing that will be. Betty and Bonnie had been out viewing the beauty of God creation. The high hill and the low valley. It was awesome to look at the pretty flowers all around. Bonnie said to Betty, don't you just love the farm, she replied, I think it's great. Betty and Bonnie was near the house, they could hear their Mother calling them. So Bonnie said Mother, we will be there in a minute, she said ok, they could see her standing in the window, watching for them. Judy watchd her lovely twin girls, now grown, walking toward the house. She thought to herself, where has the time gone, my little ones have grown up. How I will miss them when they go to college and get married. Well, she thought that is how life is, time changes everything. She was thinking I hope they will not go to far away to college. So I can see them often. "THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD"
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still water. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine eneminies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. THE B. B. TWINS ARE MEDITATING ON SOME OF THE SCRIPTURES Betty and Bonnie are thinking about Psalm 23. Bonnie said, just think, the Lord is our Shepherd. He is always with us, and supplies our every need. When we are tired and weary He gives us rest. Betty said, I know, just trust and lean on Him and not our own understanding. We love Him because He first love us. God's amazing Grace, so wonderful. THE FAMILY ENJOYS HEARING BONNIE PLAY ON HER PIANO, ESPCIALLY " AMAZING GRACE." EPHESIANS 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith: and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. BETTY AND BONNIE IS READY TO GO SHOPPING FOR NEW CLOTHES. Betty told their Mother, they were going to town to shop for some new clothes. Bonnie said, we need a lot of things, as we enter college. Gee, won't be very long, just about a few days now. We sure will miss our Dad and Mom, and our lovely home here. But we need our education, if we are going to work. Bonnie said, I'm so glad Mom bought me a piano, as music is one of my subjects. I will decide later what I will major in. Betty said, I still think I would like to be a nurse, but will decide later, as you say. Bonnie said, we'd better hurry, so we can take our time trying on clothers, which takes a while, as we want to get back home before dark. So off they went to the big stores. Betty said, Bonnie I think we have bought enough to do for a while, I think so, Bonnie replied. Betty said, we are leaving next week, I know how we will miss our Mom and Dad and they will miss us. Bonnie said to Betty, we will keep in touch with our parents and hopefully we will get to come home every two weeks. Jim said, Judy lets have a dinner our twins will never forget, before they leave. All the family gathered around the table and Jim asked the blessing, what a wonderful time we had said Betty. Thank you so much Mother, and keep us in your prayers. Bonnie said, how we will miss going to church with you both and singing the special songs. Betty said, Bonnie it's time to go, so they all gathered together prayed and hugged each other, and said their good byes, with tears falling from each one. Judy said, girls keep your faith and trust in the Lord. He will guide and lead you in the correct way. They all said their good byes as the twins left. Was sad....... The Lord attends to your hurts, empowers you in your labors, and is preparing a heavenly home for you to enjoy. Although you may not notice, there's never a moment that the Father isn't caring for your life. God is in absolute control of all your hopes, dreams, and concerns--not just for today, but for all eternity. Copyright (c) Lois Jernigan ~ 10-6-07
