I MET GOD IN A LAUNDRY MAT
God used a 15 year old girl to witness to me at a laundry mat. Praise God for her boldness, courage and love. Her name was Darlene Sweezie from Detroit, that was in 1972. Bless her Lord!

    WALKING ALONE

If today you feel you're walking alone

there's one thing I want you do know...

I see your tears, I hear your cry

I'm with you where ever you go.

The road isn't easy, I grant you

I've walked in your steps, you see

while the disciples were sleeping for sorrow

I sweat great drops of blood, for thee.

So, if today you feel you're walking alone

in all that you say and do

remember, the cross I carried was heavy

but I would do it again, just for you.

    gs  3-29-89

So many times during my walk with the Lord, I have felt like I was walking alone.  I thought of how the Lord must have felt when he came to the disciples and found them sleeping.  He felt lonely at times, especially when he was on the cross.  No one will ever love me like God has, can or will.   Praise you Jesus!

    WHY  WASTE  WITH  WORRY?

Why waste with worry, when I know God's in control

why waste with worry, when I know He loves me so.

Why waste with worry, when I don't seem to understand

why waste with worry, when I know I'm part of his plan.

Why waste with worry, when he sometimes answers no

why waste with worry, when he wants me to just let go.

Why waste with worry, when I know he'll see me thru

why waste with worry, when I know what God can do.

    gs  1-20-2000

I wanted to change a difficult situation I was in, but God reminded me I didn't need to worry about it.  If I let go of the problem he would diffinately work it out and I was just wasting my time worrying about it.  When I decided to let go, God gave me a peace in my heart and worked it out.

    OVER THE SUNSET HILL

I wonder if I uttered, all the words that could be said

while I knelt beside my grandma laying quietly on her death bed.

Her voice too weak to speak, her eyes to faint to see

but praise God for the assurance, she acknowledged it was me.

There wasn't much that I could do, for the end was drawing near

I just held her hand so gently, and whispered these words in her ear.

Beyond the sunset grandma, you'll have real joy and peace

and all your cares and sorrows, will in a short time cease.

She was too weak to speak a word, but grasped my hand just then

and in my heart I felt assured, she was ready to meet Him

As hard as it was to say goodbye, my heart rejoices still

for I know that I will see her again, just over the Sunset Hill.

God gave me this poem about my dear Grandma Nelson.  I went to see her in the nursing home and the nurse she died ten minutes after I left.  I was so thankful that God gave me this poem, and I could share it at her funeral.

    ONE small SIN

I once had a heavy burden, that was deep within my heart

and I begged for God's mercy, that by his grace it might depart.

It seemed unreal that one small sin, could cause so much unrest

but until it was taken care of, I would surely not be blessed.

I tried so hard to witness, do the work he bid me do

for a while I fooled my friends, but no Lord, not you.

Then the time came for me to repent, a decision had to be made

so I gave God this small hidden sin, and my cares on him, I laid.

If you too have a heavy burden, put to practice the things you know

just give your cares to Jesus, don't hold on to your sin, let go.

    gs 9-2-85

So many times when people would ask me how I was doing, I would just smile and say, fine. We can fool people many times, but we can't fool the Lord.  He knows even our deepest thoughts. Man looks on the outward appearance, but God looks on the heart. I Samuel 16:7  Praise God for the precious Holy Spirit that convicts, convinces and converts.

    PRESS ON

When going through a trial, it's so easy to complain

but we need this in our life, like sunshine and the rain.

Too many times we interfere, with God's most perfect plan

trying hard to run the show, without even holding his hand.

It's foolish when we walk our way, and think we know what's best

when God tells us plainly in his word, come unto me, I will give you rest.

This trial will surely come to pass, when the time is exactly right

it's important that we walk by faith, and never by our sight.

For God can see what lies ahead, it's vital that we move slow

pray without ceasing (in your heart) give the problem to him, let go.

When you call unto Jesus, he'll answer..when you come unto him, he will give

it may not be what you expected, but press on, rejoice and live.

    gs  Philippians 3:13,14

God gave me this poem, when I realized that I was doing just too much complaining.  He told me that I couldn't change the situation I was in, but I did have the power to change my "attitude" about it.  He wanted me to press on in the faith, pray without ceasing and change my attitude!  He does give us rest, when we trust and obey. ~~ Press On ~~

    PRAISE THE LORD ANYHOW

When things seem to look dark, and just don't go your way

praise the Lord anyhow, this is the only way.

We can't look into the future, so we don't know what tomorrow holds

we do know the Saviour guides us, that's just one promise we are told.

Since accidents don't "just happen", to a child of the King

we can rejoice and say Hallelujah, what a blessed song to sing.

So, praise the Lord anyhow, when things don't go your way

just let the Saviour guide you, as you live for him each day.

    gs 10-14-77

The women from my church wanted me to attend a ladies weekend retreat, but my husband didn't want me to go.  While my family was still asleep, I sat at the table feeling sorry for myself.  I looked at the clock and knew they were probably putting their luggage in the car about now. It was then that God said Gloria, praise the Lord anyhow.  I remember saying, what? They get to go and I have to stay home, and you want me to praise you anyhow?  Ok then, that's what I will do.  I don't like it and I don't understand it, but I want to walk in obedience to your will.  Just then I began to write and God gave me this poem.

I could see later how God wanted me to stay home.  We received a phone call from a loved one asking us to come over.  They had to share some sad news that my husband's brother had cancer. We wept and talked and I could see how I was needed at home and not at the ladies retreat.   ~~  Praise The Lord Anyhow

    Oh, How I love Jesus

God is so wonderful.  Today he led me to a friendly church, where I know I can be encouraged in the faith and continue to grow as a christian.  I visited four other churches recently and believe this particular one, is where God wants me.  I must share with you that one church I visited had about 150 people.  I was so surprised that not even one person, said hi to me.  Friends, it's so important to reach out to others, in love.  Even a simple smile or hello can mean so much. God so loved us, we ought to love others.  When you have a visitor come to your church, you don't need to carry on a long conversation, just acknowledge their presence with a warm smile and hello.
