Are You Listening?
Then the people answered, "Far be it from us to forsake the LORD to serve other gods! - Joshua 24:16 (NIV).
Most of us would readily agree that we would not forsake God to serve
other gods, but how much time do we really spend with God? I don't
mean reading our daily Bible chapters to cross them off our list. I
don't mean praying prayers when we need something or are in trouble.
How many times do we just sit in His presence? How many times do we
read the Bible and enjoy reading it? How many times do we listen to
God reveal Himself to us? God is talking, but are we listening? Or
are we doing all the talking? Or are we too busy to talk to Him at all?

Feed On Jesus
Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so
the one who feeds on me will live because of me. - John 6:57 (NIV).
In this Scripture, it says we will live if we feed on Jesus. It
doesn’t mean to literally eat Jesus. In John 1:14, we are told that
Jesus is the Word made flesh. In other words, Jesus is the Word of
God. When we feed on the Scriptures of the Bible, we will receive
everything we need because faith comes by hearing and hearing by the
Word of God (Romans 10:17).

Better Than Superman
He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in
trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. - Psalm 91:15 (NIV).
When we call upon God, He answers us. He is with us in trouble. God
is not afar off. No, He is not too busy to be concerned when we are in
trouble. He is ready, willing and able to help us. All we have to do
is call. And He is better than Superman because He is our real Hero.
He is able to move heaven and earth to save us, His children.

If You Had Been Here...
"Lord," Martha said to Jesus, "if you had been here, my brother would not have died. - John 11:21 (NIV).
When Mary reached the place where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at
his feet and said, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not
have died." - John 11:32 (NIV).
How many times have we been like Mary and Martha? How many times have we said, "Lord, if You had only been here."
But God is always on time. He comes right when we need Him, even if it seems too late by our standards.
God knows what He is doing, and if He isn't worried, why should we be?

Do You Recognize Him?
He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. - John 1:10 (NIV).
The world did not recognize Jesus. Sad to say most of the world does
not recognize Jesus even today. They don’t recognize what Jesus did
for us or how significant what He did on the Cross really is. Without
Jesus’ death on the Cross, we would still be going to Hell. I encourage
you to go to Psalm 103:1-5 and praise God for all of the benefits we
have receive because He died and rose again for us. Make it a daily

Who Are You Hanging With?
Who do you hang around? The people you hang around can make or break you.
As a teenager, I used to hang around some questionable friends. They
used to smoke cigarettes, drink alcohol and do drugs. One tried to
commit suicide by overdosing on sleeping pills. Although my friends
did these things, I didn't.
I had drifted away from God during this time. I dated a guy who wasn't
saved. I knew better, but because I had already been compromising my
beliefs, it became easier to bend to the world's way of thinking.
It took me a total of eleven years to come back to God. It didn't have
to be that difficult. I could have come back to God at any time, but I
didn't want to lose my friends.
Many times in life, we have to give up the bad things in our lives.
The friends who put us down. The friends who mooch off us. The
friends who tolerate us instead of celebrate us.
When we do, God can put the right people in our lives. The ones who
will encourage us and inspire us to go to new levels in God.

That Pleases Him
And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. - Mark 1:11
Did you know that God is well-pleased with us as well? Is it because
we are special? No, even though we are to Him. Is it because we say
or do the right thing? No. He is pleased with us because once we
have accepted Christ, we are His children in whom He is well-pleased.
When He sees us, He sees Christ's blood, and that pleases Him.

Heal Our Sight
“Lord,” they answered, “we want our sight.” - Matthew 20:33 (NIV)
These two blind men wanted their physical sight. But we should be
like these blind men in regards to our spiritual sight. We must ask
God to open our eyes and our hearts to the things of the Spirit.
Although these things mean nothing to the logical thinkers of this
world, they mean something to God. The scales need to fall off our
eyes concerning the things of God.

On His Side
There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the LORD. - Proverbs 21:30.
None of our wisdom, our knowledge, our understanding can succeed
against the Lord. We can't hide from Him. He knows where we are at
all times. He knows what we are doing, thinking, dreaming, even what
we are worried about. It is time for us to switch to His side.
Instead of fighting against Him, we must fight with Him. We need to
commit our thoughts to Him, and our ways will be established.

Teach Me, O Lord
Teach me your way, O LORD; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors. - Psalm 27:11 (NIV).
This is such a sweet prayer because here we see a humble person. He
is saying that he doesn’t know it all. He is saying that he needs God
to teach him. He needs God to lead him in a straight path no matter
what comes against him.
We have to adapt this attitude in our every day lives. We don’t
know everything. We can’t understand everything in our past, our
present or our future. Most of the time, we cannot see further than
our own circumstances. This is why we need God to teach us and guide
us along the path He has for our lives.

But God hath

a long time. I am not successful in their terms of success. Most of
my friends have left, thinking that what I am doing is crazy. I know

"Have I Loved"
As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. - Romans 9:13 (KJV).
I find it interesting that God used the name Jacob here. God could
have said, “Israel have I loved.” After all, God had renamed Jacob.
He gave him the name Israel.
I believe He chose to call him Jacob here because God wanted to
emphasize the fact that He loved Jacob when he was a schemer, a
manipulator. God loved Jacob when Jacob was still in sin, still trying
to live his own way.
God loved us too when we were still drowning in our sea of lies,
excessive drinking, smoking, our unwillingness to change. He loved us
when we thought we didn’t need Him.
And He still loves us when we make mistakes today.

What Are You Holding On To?
My pastor taught
on meditating on the Word of God (Joshua 1:8). He recalled that on
several occasions, he muttered a Scripture to himself while he took a
walk. As he did, God gave him revelation about that particular
Scripture.
While I washed my hair a couple of weeks ago, I muttered III John 2
to myself. God stopped me and started speaking to my spirit about
prosperity. Total life prosperity.
He told me that it breaks His heart to see His people living in
poverty and sickness and thinking that He wants them to be that way.
Like any father, He hates to see His children suffer. Yet many of
His children think that they are pleasing Him by staying sick, by
staying poor, by accepting the problems that come in their lives.
He cries when we cry, when we suffer, when we are in pain,
especially when we have been taught that He wants us to stay that way.
God didn’t create sickness or poverty, so He doesn’t have any of
those things to give us. He has healing for us (Isaiah 53:4-5, I Peter
2:24, Romans 8:11). He has prosperity for us (III John 2, Deuteronomy
8:18, Psalm 35:27). He has only good gifts for us (James 1:17).
But as long as we are holding onto the sickness, the poverty, our
negative thinking about these subjects, we won’t receive what God has
for us.
We cannot receive when our fists are closed. Let’s open our hands and receive all that God has in store for us.

Stay In Peace
The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. - Exodus 14:14-15 (KJV).
In order for God to fight for you, you have to hold your peace.
He told me recently that as long as I worried about things, I kept
my hands on those things I wanted Him to handle. Instead every time I
am anxious, I am training myself to say, “I will not let my heart be
troubled, neither will I let it be afraid.”
When I stay in peace, God fights for me. And He will do the same for you…if you remain in peace.

Hang On God
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread
alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. -
Matthew 4:4 (KJV).
We cannot live by bread alone. However, we can live on every word that
proceeds out of the mouth of God. The words that are written in the
Bible, yes, but also the words that God speaks to our spirits.
Have you ever been in love with someone so much that you hung on every
word they said? That's how we need to be with God. We should hang on
His every word. We have to get to the point where pleasing God is the
only thing that is important to us.

Condemnation?
You forgave the guilt of your people—yes, you covered all their sins. - Psalm 85:2 (NLT).
Isn't that a wonderful promise? God has forgiven our guilt and covered all our sins.
Sometimes, as Believers, we live with a lot of guilt from our past.
Things we have done that weren't God-like. Things we have said that
weren't too nice.
God has forgiven us of those sins. He took our guilt as well. We are not to live under
condemnation because it keeps us in the past. Instead God wants us to
look forward to those things which He is about to do in our lives.

Living The Curse
Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. - John 15:13 (NIV).
Jesus laid down His life for us. He was nailed to a cross. He was beaten and bruised. He took stripes for us.
Yet most people say He didn’t overcome the world because they see
evidence of the curse. They see the curse all around them, yet Christ
has redeemed them from it.
According to Galatians 3:13, Christ has redeemed us from the curse
of the law. He has redeemed us from sickness and disease. He has
redeemed us from spiritual death. He has redeemed us from poverty.
The problem doesn’t lie with what Jesus did for us, giving us
salvation, healing, abundance, peace. The problem lies with us. We
don’t believe that we have what God says we have.
So, when problems come our way, we don’t remember what Christ did
for us, what God promised us. We don’t believe that God will come
through for us no matter what we see around us.
Instead we live under the curse. We accept the sickness, the
poverty, the pain. We don’t take the promises and fight for what is
ours.
Why? Because although we are redeemed from the curse, it is still
on the inside of us. It is in our thinking. It is in our mouths. As
long as we think we are cursed, we will live under the curse. Even
though Christ has paid the price for us to have His blessings.

Qarah Moments
...but time and chance happen to them all. - Ecclesiastes 9:11 (NIV).
The Hebrew word used in this Scripture for the word happen is qarah,
which means right happening. This means that God will put us in the
right place at the right time.
Abraham sent his servant out to find a wife for Isaac. The servant
prayed, "O LORD, God of my master Abraham, give me success today, and
show kindness to my master Abraham" (Genesis 24:12 NIV).
Give me success here is actually the word qarah. He was asking for God
to give him right happening in order to find Isaac a wife. And God
granted his request.
It is only God who can put us in the right place at the right time, so
why don't you ask for God to give you qarah today? Ask Him for right
happenings every day!

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
If you have accepted Christ, you are a new creation. That doesn’t
mean that you have changed your hair color or eye color. It doesn’t
mean you are tall if you were short. It doesn’t necessarily mean that
your attitude or your thinking have changed. Your spirit has changed,

The Good Pursuit
Surely goodness
and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in
the house of the LORD for ever” - Psalm 23:6.
The word follow in this Scripture is the Hebrew transliterated word,
Radaph, which means to be behind, follow after, pursue, persecute, run
after.
In other words, goodness and mercy shall follow after you, pursue
you, run after you. Imagine having two people named goodness and mercy
running behind you day after day, night after night. Wherever you go,
they go.

Total Dependence
To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down
on everybody else, Jesus told this parable: "Two men went up to the
temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The
Pharisee stood up and prayed about himself: 'God, I thank you that I am
not like other men--robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this
tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.' "But
the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to
heaven, but beat his breast and said, 'God, have mercy on me, a
sinner.' - Luke 18:9-13 (NIV).
In Luke 18, we read about a Pharisee. He stood up and prayed out loud
in the temple, "God, I thank you that I am not like other men--robbers,
evildoers, adulterers--or even like this tax collector."
He boasted about how he saved himself. How obeying the law had saved him.
On the other hand, in verse 13, we see a different man. This tax
collector beat his chest and cried out, "God, have mercy on me, a
sinner."
This man recognized that only God Himself could save him.
Which one are you?
We must depend upon our Saviour for everything we need. Not only the
saving of our spirits but for all our physical and spiritual needs as
well. Jobs come and go. So do loved ones. The only one we can count
on is God. He will never leave us nor forsake us.
Just as the tax collector did, we need to recognize our total dependence on our Lord. He alone is our Source.

The Blood Saves
Get rid of the
old yeast that you may be a new batch without yeast—as you really are.
For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. - 1 Corinthians 5:7
(NIV).
Christ became our Passover lamb. In the Exodus 12, before the last
plague hit the Egyptians, God told the Israelites to kill a lamb and
put its blood on the door posts of their houses. That night the Lord
passed over the houses that had the blood on their door posts. He
spared their firstborn.
Now if the blood of a lamb worked that well, imagine how well the
shed blood of our Passover lamb, Christ, works when we apply it to our
door posts, our minds, our bodies, our lives.

The Grace Effect
“If, while we
seek to be justified in Christ, it becomes evident that we ourselves
are sinners, does that mean that Christ promotes sin? Absolutely not! -
Galatians 2:17 (NIV).
When we speak of not being under the law but being under grace,
people think that means that we permit people to sin. We are not under
the law.
Christ fulfilled the requirements of the law because we could not.
The problem is, though, that people are so focused on sin and being
conscious of their sins that they sin all the more. Wherever the mind
goes, whatever it is focused on, the body moves in that direction.
If we change our focus to what Jesus did for us, the stripes He took
on His back, how He took our sins–past, present and future, then we
find ourselves doing good things. Why? Because our mind is focused on
how Jesus made us righteous through His shed blood.
We live under grace, but as we focus on Jesus and what He did for us, we find ourselves doing what is right.

Free From Confusion
I am astonished
that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace
of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—which is really no
gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion
and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ - Galatians 1:6-7 (NIV).
We have to be careful not to be like the people of Galatia, who
deserted the One who called us by the grace of Christ. Every thing
that sounds right is not necessarily right.
When we are presented with a gospel that sounds right but does not
feature Christ as the center of it, we must reject it. The true Gospel
centers around what Jesus did for us. It doesn’t hinge on what we do
for ourselves.
In order to be free of confusion, we need to compare every thing we
read, hear and see with the Word of God. When we do that, we will
never be led astray.

Occupy Until He Comes
How many of us
are using our talents? How many of us are using them for the Kingdom
of God? This is one of the things we will be asked about on Judgment
Day. What are we going to say?
If we are fortunate, some of us use are talents at work. Others of
us work at jobs just to pay the bills. Jobs that we don’t enjoy. When
we do use our talents, it is as a hobby. It is something that we
putter around with on the weekends.
However God created us with those exact talents, those exact
abilities, because He has something extraordinary for us to do with our
lives.
Most people have been taught that God has a plan for their lives, but they assume that it isn’t anything that spectacular.
We are afraid that He will call us to Africa or some faraway land
like that. We are afraid that He will call us to something we don’t
like to do.
God designed us for our assignment. He put the desire to accomplish
it in our hearts. He can take whatever we ask, think or dream and do
far above and beyond it with our lives.
What if we think that we aren’t called? Or that we will just let
someone else accomplish great things for the Lord? And we’ll just wait
to go to Heaven?
We were not put on this Earth to just take up space until Jesus comes back or until we die.
No, after we give our lives to Christ, God expects us to let Him
work with us to fulfill our purpose in life. He expects us to use our
talents, our skills, our abilities, to help win others to Christ.
And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.” (Luke 19:13).
The word occupy here is the Greek transliterated word, pragmateuomai
(prag-mat-yoo’-om-ahee), which means to be occupied in anything, to
carry on a business, to carry on the business of a banker or a trader.
In our case, it means to carry on business in Jesus’ stead. Because
Jesus is seated at the right-hand of the Father, it is necessary for us
to carry on His work as His children.
If we do not carry on His work by fulfilling our assignment on this
Earth, then we have not been faithful to what God called us to from the
foundation of the Earth. And there are countless people who are going
to Hell because we did not do what we were put on Earth to do.
We must ask God to lead us and guide us every day so that we will be
at the right place at the right time to fulfill our destinies.

Miracles Beyond Measure
“But if it were
I, I would appeal to God; I would lay my cause before him. He performs
wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted. - Job
5:8-9 (NIV).
When we lay our cause before God, He performs wonders that cannot be
fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted. God is still in the
miracle-working business. Do you need healing? A financial
breakthrough? Your loved ones to be saved? God can do a miracle for
you in all these areas…and so much more. Believe that God wants to do
miracles in every area of your life. He wants to do things for you,
just as He did for Abraham, for Paul, for David. Once you know that
you know that you know God wants to fulfill His promises for you, then
you can receive your miracle.

Abandon Human Effort Alone
I would like to
learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by observing
the law, or by believing what you heard? Are you so foolish? After
beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by
human effort? - Galatians 3:2-3 (NIV).
How did you receive the Spirit? Did you receive Him by observe the
law? Did you receive Him by what you have heard? Don’t be foolish
like the Galatians. When we begin in the Spirit, we must continue
receive through the Spirit. We can’t try to earn the things of God
through human effort because without God’s power behind us, we can do
nothing. We cannot earn anything from God of our own efforts. In
fact, the more we try to do things through human effort, the less we
receive. We cannot give to others what we have not received.

Access To Wisdom
…and the Lord give thee understanding in all things… - 2 Timothy 2:7.
The Lord will give us understanding in all things, if we expect Him
to. This is one of our rights as children of the Most High God. We
have the Holy Spirit in us, and He knows all things. We have access to
His wisdom 24/7. Only most of us don’t ask Him how to handle our
problems, our adversities. The Holy Spirit’s wisdom is not just for
Heaven. We don’t need it there. It is to give us all things that
pertain to life and godliness. And wisdom definitely pertains to life
and godliness.
