What Is Failing In Your Life?

Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. - Habakkuk 3:17-18 (KJV).

Even when things are going bad in our lives, like the person in these Scriptures with the fig tree not blossoming and the vines not budding, we still need to rejoice in our Lord.

Trouble is not from God.  We live in this world, so we will have trouble.  However Jesus tells us to be of good cheer because He overcame the world (John 16:33).

And where does Christ live now?  In us (Colossians 1:27).

When we rejoice in the Lord in the midst of our trouble, we are trusting God to be faithful and bring us through the difficulty.

God doesn't bring the trouble, but if we let Him, He can use it as an opportunity to springboard us to bigger and better things.

He can use what the devil meant for evil and turn it around for our good (Romans 8:28).

    Do You Know God?

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. - Proverbs 22:6 (KJV).

Raised in a Christian home, I attended church every Sunday until I turned fifteen or sixteen.  At that point, I wanted no more of church or God.

I periodically checked in with God when I encountered trouble, but I kept telling myself I would worry about God later.

At twenty-three, I went through a rough patch.  The people I thought would always be in my life weren't.  My health finally showed signs of wear from all my years of worry (I joke that I was born worrying).  And the job I thought I could always count on failed me.

I realized that I needed God.  I turned back to Him after a near-death experience.  For me, I knew I had been spared for a reason.  So I turned to Him for good.

My mother trained me in the way of God, and later on, I returned to Him.

I left Him because I had been taught that He was a mean, judgmental God.  Now I know Him as Daddy, as Saviour, as love, peace and joy.

And knowing He loves me makes all the difference.  It makes any situation or trial I face that much more bearable.

    Listening To God’s Instruction?

He who obeys instructions guards his life, but he who is contemptuous of his ways will die. - Proverbs 19:16 (NIV).

Many times we are so busy, trying to fulfill the laws in the Bible, trying to work out our own salvation.

We tend to neglect the instructions from God through our spirit.  These instructions are the instructions that will bring life if we follow them.

It is when we listen to God speak to us that He will tell us how to avoid danger or how to land that big account.

God's instructions bring us life, and we need God to lead us and guide us during our day.

Listen and obey what God is speaking to your spirit.

Taking the time to ask God to guide you and lead you every morning will help you avoid some dangerous situations.

Isn't that worth the two seconds out of your morning to pray for His guidance?

Do You Have A Rope Of Hope?

And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. - Romans 5:5

The word hope here in Romans 5:5 is the Greek transliterated word elpis, which is used for the word hope as well as rope.

I have been learning to turn things over to God.  When I let Him help me with those things that concern me,  I notice I have more of that Bible hope, which is a confident expectation of good happening, that doesn't disappoint.

All of us can use a lot more of that kind of hope.  God’s hope is just the rope we need to pull us out of our pools of despair.

    Who Loves You?

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.  - Romans 8: 37-39 (KJV).

We are more than conquerors through Christ.  Not on our own but through Christ.

Nothing can separate us from the love of God.  Absolutely nothing.

I believe that it is the belief that God loves us that causes us to be more than conquerors.  It is when we get the revelation deep on the inside of us that we become all that God created us to be...or at least start on the journey toward it.

God loves you.  Believe it.  Speak it.  Know it.

    Who Are You Afraid Of?

I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass; - Isaiah 51:12 (KJV).

God comforts us in times of trouble.  He is with us and loves us so much that He wants to share in every area of our lives.  He wants to share in our ups, downs, joys, sorrows.  He wants to help us every step of the way.  He is a very hands-on God.

If God is for us, why should we be afraid of what mortal humans can do to us?

Far too many times, our focus is on humans and what they are doing to upset us--coming over too often, not mowing their yards, not training their kids and so forth.

We instead need to focus our attention on God.  Whatever we focus on is the direction our lives will take.

Go toward God.  Focus on Him and the finished work of Jesus at the Cross.  Remember God is the Best Friend we can have.  With Him on our side, who needs anybody else?

    Are You Being Protected?

He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under is wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;   Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. - Psalm 91:4-6 (KJV).

God does not want us to be afraid of anything.  He covers and protects us when we trust Him.

I have heard wonderful stories about people who have prayed the 91st Psalm over their lives, their families and their towns every day and how they escaped trouble.

One, in particular, prayed the 91st Psalm over his town at God's Word.  His town was spared in the 2004 Tsunami.

I've also heard countless stories of soldiers who prayed it over themselves and their units in Iraq and not one of them was harmed.

I pray the 91st Psalm every day over my family and I.  I've seen us avoid near collisions, be safe in storms and come through situations that other people wouldn't have.  And those are only the things I have seen.  God only knows how many other things we have been diverted from

If this chapter, which is under the Old Covenant, works this well, imagine how much more God will protect us and keep us under the New Covenant.  The key is to take God at His Word.

    Are You Using Your Keys?

And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. - Matthew 16:19 (KJV).

The keys to the Kingdom are left in our hands.  The hands of people who don't know how to use them or don't know what they are for.

Instead of worrying about what to bind in heaven, let's think about it this way: whatever is not acceptable in Heaven should not be acceptable on Earth, such as sickness, disease, poverty, condemnation and all the other things that Jesus died to give us.

Remember what is prayed in the prayer that Jesus taught His disciples?  On Earth as it is in Heaven (Luke 11:2).

So whatever is not acceptable in Heaven is not acceptable here on Earth.  These are the things we are to bind here on Earth because Jesus has give us the authority to do so.

Is Anything Too Hard For Him?

Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me? - Jeremiah 32:27 (KJV).

Yesterday, I listened to God speak to my spirit as I do every day.  I have been going through some challenges within the last few weeks, which He began to address.

He asked me, “Is anything too hard for Me?”

Nothing is too hard for Him.  Nothing.

He can meet all my needs and all the needs of the entire galaxy and still not be depleted of resources.  Isn’t that wonderful to know?

The key is to think big.  Ask big and expect the God of more-than-enough to do more-than-enough for you.  He is just waiting for you to ask Him.

Is He At Work In You?

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: - Philippians 1:6 (KJV).

When it seems as if all is going wrong and that your dream will never come to pass, remember that God has begun a good work in you, and He will continue to work on it until the day of Christ.

That is good news because if we know that God began the good work in us, then we know it cannot be left unfinished, uncompleted.  Unlike us, God always finishes what He starts.

    Are You Manifesting Grace?

When he arrived and saw what grace (favor) God was bestowing upon them, he was full of joy; and he continuously exhorted (warned, urged, and encouraged) them all to cleave unto and remain faithful to and devoted to the Lord with [resolute and steady] purpose of heart. - Acts 11: 23 (AMP)

When Barnabas arrived in Antioch, he saw the evidence of God's grace on the people.  Can you say the same about your life?

Can people see the evidence of God's grace in everything you do?  Is His undeserved, unmerited favor all over you?  Are you doing things that are too big for you to accomplish on your own in the natural?

Remember if it's hard and a lot of work, then you are not tapping into God's grace.  His grace, just like His yoke, is easy and light, and it points people who see it in manifested in your life to your God.

    Do You Feel Peace?

And the world passes away and disappears, and with it the forbidden cravings (the passionate desires, the lust) of it; but he who does the will of God and carries out His purposes in his life abides (remains) forever. - 1 John 2:17 (AMP).

Have you ever heard of the desire test?

That's where you think something is from God, so you pray about it.  If your desire to do that thing becomes stronger, or you feel peace about it, then the desire is from God.  If the desire wanes, it isn’t.

God's desires, His Will, for us will never pass away, but ours will.

We have to follow the advice in the book of Colossians (3:15 AMP) and let peace be our umpire.

If we pray and feel peace, that is God leading us to do that thing.  If we feel an absence of peace, that is God leading us against it.

Pay attention to peace, or lack of it, every time you pray.

    Why Are You Here?

[The purpose is] that through the church the complicated, many-sided wisdom of God in all its infinite variety and innumerable aspects might now be made known to the angelic rulers and authorities (principalities and powers) in the heavenly sphere. This is in accordance with the terms of the eternal and timeless purpose which He has realized and carried into effect in [the person of] Christ Jesus our Lord. - Ephesians 3: 10-11 (AMP).

God had an eternal purpose when He sent Jesus to this Earth to die for us.  We are going to Heaven when we die because we have accepted Christ.

However, most of us don't understand the correlation between our earthly purpose and our eternal one.

We are not here to bide time.  We are here to fulfill God's plan to reconcile others to Himself through our individual God-given purposes.

Until we fulfill them, God's plan will be delayed, including the coming of our Lord.  We cannot go to Heaven until our work on Earth is through.

Are You Living The King’s Kid Life?

For He foreordained us (destined us, planned in love for us) to be adopted (revealed) as His own children through Jesus Christ, in accordance with the purpose of His will  [because it pleased Him and was His kind intent]. - Ephesians 1: 5 (AMP).

God predestined us to be His children.  Isn't it wonderful to think that God thought of you before the foundation of the world?  That He chose you to be His child?  He didn't have to, but He did.  He didn't have to send His Son to die for you, but He did.  God loves you so much that He destined you to be His child, entitled to the rights and privileges that come from being a King's kid.

    Are Your Thoughts Established?

Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established. - Proverbs 16:3

When we commit our works to the Lord, He will establish our thoughts.

Frankly, when I have a problem, my mind can dwell on it. My mind can reason it out until I am sick to my stomach.

Our works, in essence, are anything we can do about the problem.

When we commit these works to God, He causes our thoughts to become agreeable with His thoughts.  Then our plans succeed.

We, myself included, need to spend less time worrying about the bills, our purpose and the problems in our lives.  Instead we should commit them to God, and let Him handle them.  He is better at it than we are anyway.

    Do You Believe?

Accordingly God also, in His desire to show more convincingly and beyond doubt to those who were to inherit the promise the unchangeableness of His purpose and plan, intervened (mediated) with an oath. - Hebrews 6: 17 (AMP).

God confirmed his unchanging purpose to His heirs with an oath.

Who are His heirs?  If you have accepted Christ, then you are an heir of God.

What is an oath?  An oath is where you take a pledge in front of witnesses.

God made a covenant with Jesus that is stronger than a vow or pledge.  His covenant is with Jesus.  Neither of them will ever break the covenant.

Now that we are in Christ, nothing can stop us from receiving the benefits of that covenant...except our unbelief.

Do You Have The Mind Of Christ?

For who has known or understood the mind (the counsels and purposes) of the Lord so as to guide and instruct Him and give Him knowledge? But we have the mind of Christ (the Messiah) and do hold the thoughts (feelings and purposes) of His heart. - 1 Corinthians 2: 16 (AMP).

We have the mind of Christ.  If we try to do everything in our own strength, figuring everything out in our own mind, we are going to be solely disappointed.

We, humans, only use ten percent of our brains whereas God uses one-hundred percent of His.  Imagine having access to His brain twenty-four/seven.

We actually do have that access because as the righteous, as those who are in Christ, we have the mind of Christ.

Declare it today and every day: "I have the mind of Christ."  Don't doubt it.  Just believe it.

    Are You Wasting Your Time?

Declaring the end and the result from the beginning, and from ancient times the things  that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure and  purpose.- Isaiah 46: 10 (AMP).

God knows the beginning from the end.  The times that have come, that are here and that are yet to be.

He knew my Great Great Aunt Minnie, my Great Grandmother Bessie, my Grandfather Ray and my Dad before He knew me.

He had a purpose for us all.  Our plans won't stand, but His plans will.

    The Conditions Of The Covenant

I the Lord have called You [the Messiah] for a righteous purpose and in righteousness; I will take You by the hand and will keep You; I will give You for a covenant to the people [Israel], for a light to the nations [Gentiles]. - Isaiah 42: 6 (AMP).

The Lord has called us into righteousness.  He took our hands and has made a covenant that is no longer between Him and His people.

Instead now He has cut the covenant with His Son, who shed His blood for the forgiveness of our sins.  When we accept Christ, we are now engrafted into that covenant.

Why?  Because while on Earth and at the Cross, Jesus fulfilled the requirements of the covenant for us.  He shed His blood for us.

Not only did God fulfill His part of the covenant, but He send Jesus to fulfill the other part as well.

Based on this, there is absolutely no reason why you cannot inherit all the promises of God.  None.

Except the deception that you are not good enough, that you have not fulfilled your part.  All of that is deception perpetrated by the enemy.

Jesus fulfilled all the conditions so all the promises are yeah and amen (II Corinthians 1:20).

Are You Choosing The Wise Things?

Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people). - Ephesians 5: 15 (AMP).

Choose to be wise  Choose the wise things of God over those things which are temporal and will not matter in the afterlife.

Focus on those things that have eternal consequences, such as what God has called you to do.  The rest of your concerns--how to pay the bills, deal with your kids or work-related issues--leave them in God's hands.

Focus on what God called you to do...and let Him focus on everything else that concerns you.

    Are You Worrying Or Declaring?

Grace and spiritual blessing be to you and [soul] peace from God the Father and our  Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah), who gave (yielded) Himself up [to atone] for our sins  [and to save and sanctify us], in order to rescue and deliver us from this present wicked  ge and world order, in accordance with the will and purpose and plan of our God and Father. - Galatians 1: 3-4 (AMP).

Jesus gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age.

We are in an evil age.  There is no doubt about it.  The courts are holding up what is wrong and calling it right.  We are in this world, but we are not of this world.

We are seated in Heavenly places because we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.  We are kings and priests, but instead of taking our rightful places and living out our purpose, we act like the world, worrying and toiling to make ends meet when we are supposed to be speaking what God says about our situations.

We are supposed to be declaring that we are rich (2 Corinthians 8:9) and that our needs are supplied (Philippians 4:19).  Not in Heaven but here on earth (Matthew 6:10)...as God promised.

Are Your Plans Honest And Reliable?

The thoughts and purposes of the [consistently] righteous are honest and reliable, but the counsels and designs of the wicked are treacherous. - Proverbs 12: 5

The plans of the righteous are honest and reliable.  Who are the righteous?  We who have accepted Christ.

Why would our plans be honest and reliable?  Because the more time we spend with God--letting Him love on us, just being in His presence, being conscious of what Jesus did for us--His desires become our desires.

The Bible says in Psalm 37:4 to delight ourselves in the Lord and He will give us the desires of our hearts.

Why?  Because the more we spend time with God, the more His desires become our desires.  Then our will and His are the same, and He can give us whatever we desire.

This is why when we are righteous, in right standing with God, and know what that truly means, our plans are indeed honest and reliable.

    Where Are You Focused?

Let your eyes look right on [with fixed purpose], and let your gaze be straight before you. - Proverbs 4: 25

We are to keep our eyes focused in front of us on our future, our purpose.  Many times we will become distracted by money issues, people problems and what is going on in the media.

These are all distractions to keep your eyes focused on the storms of life instead of on the One who stops the storms.

Keep your eyes on Jesus.  Focus on what He has done for you on the cross and what your purpose is on the Earth.  Then you will move in that direction.

Though the storms rage, focus on the One who can help because as much as you try, you cannot stop the storms yourself.  Only Jesus can.

    Are You Being Judged?

I said in my heart, God will judge the righteous and the wicked, for there is a time [appointed] for every matter and purpose and for every work. - Ecclesiastes 3: 17 (AMP).

God will bring to judgment both the righteous and the wicked.

Isn't it wonderful to know that we, as Believers, will never be judged by God again.

Why?  God punished Jesus on the Cross for all our sins.  God judged Jesus for them, so He wouldn't have to judge us for them.  That's the benefit of the new covenant!

Jesus' shed blood forgives us, heals us, delivers us, protects us, redeems us and so much more.

Now we don't have to focus on being judged by God.  Instead we are free to focus on the assignment God has for our lives.

    Isn't God so wonderful?

    Are A Great Beauty?

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He also has planted eternity in men's hearts and minds [a divinely implanted sense of a purpose working through the ages which nothing under the sun but God alone can satisfy], yet so that men cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. - Ecclesiastes 3: 11 (AMP).

God makes everything beautiful in its time.  I don't count myself a great beauty or as the smartest person in the world, but just like all of you, I am beautiful to God.

In His time, He will bring His purpose for me to fruition as He will with you.  Then we will be beautiful in our time by meeting the needs of those God called us to help.  Not only will we be beautiful to God but those we help as well.

    Is Everything A “Go”?

To everything there is a season, and a time for every matter or purpose under heaven. - Ecclesiastes 3: 1

There is a time for everything. Even a time for us to marry, have children, be born and start our purpose.

Some of us are what they use to term late bloomers. We marry later, have kids later, and yes, even start our purpose later.

But God has everything under control. He is executing His plan at just the right moment when conditions are all a "go." What is late to us is right on time to God.

Whether you are a late bloomer or an early one, we are all called for such a time as this.

    Are You And God Partners?

I cry out to God Most High, to God, who fulfills {his purpose} for me. - Psalm 57:2 (NIV).

When we cry out to God, when we seek Him, He will fulfill His purpose in us.  Only His plans will stand.  Not ours.  Only with His help can we accomplish anything in our lives because we can do nothing on our own (John 15:5).  When we partner with God and let Him work through us, we can accomplish anything (Luke 1:37).

Will You Do It For Me?

You have proved my heart; You have visited me in the night; You have tried me and find nothing [no evil purpose in me]; I have purposed that my mouth shall not transgress. -
    Psalm 17: 3 (AMP).

It is a nice thought to think that we can just purpose our mouths not to sin.  However, I find it impossible.

The more I tried to control my mouth and thoughts, the more I sinned in my words and thinking.

We try, we sin, we feel condemned.  We try, we sin, we feel condemned.  We are in a vicious cycle that we cannot undo on our own.

This pattern is destructive to our purpose.  So what do we do?  We call on God to help us.

Recently, I have learned to say something like, "God, I can't control my thoughts or words, but I know You can.  Lord, control my thoughts and words for me."

Then I trust that He heard me and will.  That's grace.  God doing for us what we cannot do for ourselves.

My pastor did this a few years ago with his temper.  Within weeks, his temper no longer control him.

I do this with whatever worries me...and I have seen a real improvement in those situations.  Hallelujah!

Do You Take Him At His Word?

Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes. - Romans 10: 4 (NIV).

This Scripture says, “Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.”

Do you believe that Jesus died for all your sins?  That God raised Him from the dead?  Do you take Him at His Word about salvation?

Then why not when He says you are righteous through the shed blood of Jesus?  Why are you still trying to earn salvation and righteousness? We are righteous through Jesus' shed blood.

God has a wonderful purpose in store for us who believe Him and take Him at His Word.  One tailored for each of us individually.  We just need to believe Him.

    Who Needs Jesus?

For this is My Father's will and His purpose, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in and cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up [from the dead] at the last day. - John 6: 40 (AMP).

If we believe in what Jesus did for us on the cross, we have eternal life.  We know that our eternal salvation is secure.  It is our mission to make sure others have the opportunity to make Jesus their Saviour as well.

Can you think of people in your life that need God?  Can you think of creative ways to spread the Gospel to people you haven’t met yet?

People need Jesus, and you may be the only glimpse of Him that they ever see on this Earth.
