GOD'S WORD IS TRUTH (Rev. Joseph E. Mahabir)
The Glorious Appearing is a book on prophecy that points out unscriptural teaching of many authors and Bible teachers on the Second Coming of Jesus, the resurrection, the Rapture, the Tribulation (Daniel's prophecy, chapter 9), the Day of Judgment, the Day of the Lord, Israel and the Church, "the chosen people", the Sabbath, Ezekiel's temple, the lights of Isaiah (chapter 30), the Millennium, the end of this present heaven and earth and the commencement of eternity.

    GOD'S WORD IS TRUTH

Dispensational Premillennialism is one of the four eschatological theories.

Is Dispensational Premillennialism faithful to the Scriptures?

    DISCUSSION

A large number of born again believers are confident that they will be taken to heaven (raptured) before the Tribulation begins.

This false hope is taught by The Left Behind Series and numerous Bible Colleges, churches and ministries around the world.

      DISPENSATIONAL PREMILLENNIALISM

This theory was formulated in the nineteenth century A.D. It sees the history of the world, from its creation to the end of this present heaven and earth, as divided into eight dispensations or periods of time. The last two dispensations being the Church Age and the Kingdom Age (millennial kingdom).

The theory teaches two future comings of Jesus, one at the time of the rapture and the other at the end of the Tribulation.

Different groups of dispensational premillennialists teach a different time for the rapture. There is the pretribulation rapture group, the midtribulation rapture  group and the prewrath rapture group.

The theory also teaches three future bodily resurrections, three days of judgment and a millennial kingdom after the judgment at the Second Coming.

The theory sees people going into a millennial kingdom in physical bodies with the capability of having children.

    THE AUTHORITY OF SCRIPTURE

The Scriptures reject the teaching of Dispensational Premillennialism. According to the Scriptures, there will be only one Second Coming (Acts 3:21; Hebrews 9:27-28; 1 Thess. 4:16-5:3; 2 Thess. 1:6-10; 2 Tim. 4:1; Matt. 13:36-43; Matt. 25:31-46), one resurrection of all the dead, righteous and unrighteous (Dan. 12:2; John 5:28-29; Acts 24:15; Rev. 11:15-18), one day of judgment for all humanity (Rev. 19: 11-21; Rev. 20: 11-15; Acts 17:31; 2 Pet. 3:3-13) and all believers will be housed in spiritual bodies after the judgment at the Second Coming (Matt. 25: 46; 1 Cor. 15: 50-54; Phil. 3: 20-21; Luke 20: 34-36).

PLEASE HEED WHAT JESUS TAUGHT.  The people of this age marry and are given in marriage. But those who are considered worthy of taking part in that age and in the resurrection from the dead will neither marry nor be given in marriage, and they can no longer die; for they are like the angels. They are God’s children, since they are children of the resurrection (Luke -36).

    SCRIPTURAL CONCLUSION

The preceding Scriptures rule out a rapture before the end of the age. They also show that eternity will commence when Jesus judges all nations at his coming, thus ruling out a millennial kingdom after the judgment.

Dispensational Premillennialism is not faithful to the Scriptures.

If all believers, dead and living, put on immortality at the appearing of Jesus, at the last day, at the last trumpet, at the end of the age (John 6: 39 – 40; 1 Cor. 15: 50-54; Luke 20: 34 – 36; Phil. 3: 20 – 21; 1 Thess. 4: 16 - 17) and all unbelievers are punished with everlasting destruction (2 Thess. 1: 6-10), from where will people come in natural (physical) bodies to go into a millennium and have children?

Historic Premillennialism is one of the four eschatological theories.

Is Historic Premillennialism faithful to the Scriptures?

                                       DISCUSSION

A number of churches and Bible Colleges teach Historic Premillennialism. This theory was formulated by the Church Fathers in the first century A.D. The theory sees the history of the age unfolding in chronological order as recorded in the Book of Revelation.

    The theory teaches that:

    1) The Second Coming of Jesus will occur at the end of the Tribulation. At his coming, the first resurrection, that of the righteous, will occur and living believers will be transformed. The judgment will take place. At the judgment the rapture and descent will happen, the righteous will be caught up and living unbelievers will be punished in the eternal fire.

    2) The theory teaches that some people will go into a millennial kingdom (a kingdom lasting for a thousand years) in physical bodies. Those people will carry out the routines of life that we are engaged in at the present time.

    3) The resurrection and judgment of the unrighteous will take place at the end of the thousand years (Rev. 20: 11-15).

The theory does not tell us where people in physical bodies will come from after the judgment.

But the Scriptures inform us that at the judgment some will go into eternal life and some will go into eternal punishment (Matt. 25: 46). That means that there will be no people in physical bodies.

In summary, the theory teaches two future bodily resurrections separated by a literal thousand years. People will have physical (natural) bodies with the capability of procreating during the thousand years. The theory also teaches two days of judgment, one at the end of the Tribulation and the other at the end of the thousand years.

    THE AUTHORITY OF SCRIPTURE

According to the Scriptures, there will be one resurrection of all the dead, righteous and unrighteous (Daniel 12:2; John 5:28-29; Acts 24:15), one day of judgment for all mankind (Acts 17: 30-31; 2 Tim. 4: 1) and there will be no believers in natural (physical) bodies after the judgment (1 Corinthians 15:50-54; Philippians 3:20-21; Matthew 13:36-43; Matthew 25:31-46; Luke 20: 34-36; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-5:3; Revelation 11:15-18).

The above Scriptures reject the theory of Historic Premillennialism.

Some teach that after the Day of Judgment the earth will be desolate for a thousand years. But the Scripture teaches that this present heaven and earth will be burned up on the Day of Judgment and God will create a new heaven and a new earth (2 Peter 3: 7-13).

The doctrine of a millennium after the judgment at the Second Coming is not supported by Scripture.

    GOD'S WORD IS TRUTH

    What is eschatology?

Eschatology is the study of theology dealing with the four last things – death, judgment, heaven and hell. Eschatology is derived from the Greek word, eschatos, meaning last or final.

Eschatological theories are named using Latin and English words.

    There are four theories.

    1)        HISTORIC PREMILLENNIALISM

    2)        DISPENSATIONAL PREMILLENNIALISM

    3)        POSTMILLENNIALISM

    4)      AMILLENNIALISM

Millennium, meaning a thousand years, is made up of two Latin words mille (a thousand) and annus (year). Millennium is used for the thousand years recorded in Revelation 20:1-7.

Historic Premillennialism teaches that the Second Coming of Jesus will occur at the end of the Tribulation before the commencement of the thousand years recorded in Revelation 20:1-7. The thousand years are literal.

Dispensational Premillennialism teaches two future comings of Jesus, one at the time of the rapture and one at the end of the Tribulation. The Tribulation will be followed by a thousand years as recorded in Revelation 20: 1-7. The thousand years are literal. There are three groups of dispensational premillennialists. The pretribulation rapture group, the midtribulation rapture group and the prewrath rapture group.

Postmillennialism teaches that the Second Coming of Jesus will take place after the thousand years. The thousand years are literal. Postmillennialism teaches that the world will be Christianized.

Amillennialism teaches that the Second Coming of Jesus will take place at the close of the Tribulation. The thousand years of Revelation 20: 1-7 are not literal and future. They are symbolic and cover an extended period of time. They are in progress now.
