    Facing the Sanhedrin

    ~~JESUS BEFORE THE HIGH PRIEST~~

    57 And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.
    58 But Peter followed him afar off unto the high priest's palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end.
    59 Now the chief priests, and eld
    ers, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death;
    60 But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses,
    61 And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.
    62 And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?
    63 But Jesus held his peace, And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.
    64 Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
    65 Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy.
    66 What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.
    67 Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands,
    68 Saying, Prophesy unto us, thou Christ, Who is he that smote thee?

     Can you just try to imagine the cruel things they did to Jesus, an innocent man. My husband and I just finished watching the movie of "The Passion of Christ" by Mel Gibson.   and tonight we are showing it to a group from church, who have never seen it. Somehow, I believe as horrible as the movie presents it, it is only a taste of what Jesus really went through.

       Pray that many will be touched through watching "The Passion of Christ" this Easter Season.  Although many say that it does not follow the Bible exactly, still I believe it can be an outreach.

     The Sanhedrin was made up of all the chief priests, the elders.  It was the supreme court of the nation  which heard appeals form lower courts. Bible Scholars say the proceedings took place a the high priest's home rather than the courts;   It seemed they could not get true witnesses to testify of any wrong in Jesus.  This shows how corrupt the high court of Israel was.  They sought to break God's law to further their own selfish interests contrary to law.  Ex. 20: 16

     Jesus, My Loving Savior,  He was falsely accused that we might not be condemned. They spit in the face of Jesus insulting Him.  This was considered the greatest insult to a person -Num. 12: 14;  Deut. 25: 9 Job 30:10  Christ was made sin for us.

     Thank you Jesus for dying for me!

    Such pain and agony.

     I can never repay You, Dear Father above

     But I will try to tell others of Your Marvelous Love

    ~~The Battle of Calvary~~

    Enjoy the lovely words and lyrics of Battle Of Calvary,

      the traditional, classic hymn and Christian song

    Great Apollyon, grim and awful, steeped in gore and stained in blood—
    Death, with all his fearsome forces, has besieged the Son of God.
    Satan, clothed with evil armor, darkly gleaming, proud and cold—
    Merciless, he joins the battle, armed and clad with pow’r untold.
    Bowed beneath demonic onslaughts, Jesus fights His awesome duel!
    Pain devours its Holy Victim, searing, savage, raging, cruel!
    Eager waits the Mouth of Sheol, huge, insatiable, and strong!
    Maw agape, the Grave yearns after Holy Flesh—but not for long.

    Writhing under Law’s most fearsome curse, ruined, lost, polluted, wrecked;
    Languishing in Satan’s prison lie the souls of God’s elect.
    At the Cross—desire of Hell!—Christ gives up that final Breath:
    Now, at last, the choicest Captive tastes the mortal sting of Death!

    Darkness falls; the seething smoke of Hell cloaks the battlefield from view.
    Down the head of God has fallen: Law and Wrath receive their due!
    Satan smiles in seeming triumph, reaching out, his Prize to take.
    Three brief days all Hell rejoices—then the stone begins to shake!

    Now the night of wrong is ended; now the Grave has lost its Prize!
    Now the Ris’n One breaks the back of Sin: There! Behold! See how Death dies!
    Resurrection Light now scatters Satan’s armies from the field.
    Christ has drawn the fearful sting of Death: Sheol and Abaddon yield!

    At His Glance the mighty prison built by Law and Sin falls down!
    Countless in their thousand thousands, all His Ransomed praise His Crown!
    Heav’n and Hell’s astonished spirits in their joy and rage all stare
    At the Victor of the Cross Who won His greatest Battle there.

    Thank You Jesus, For Your Great Love!

    that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

    Jesus Arrested

    ~~THE BETRAYAL AND ARREST OF JESUS ~~

    47 And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.
    48 Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast.
    49 And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him.
    50 And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus and took him.
    51 And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest's, and smote off his ear.
    52 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.
    53 Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?

    54 But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?
    55 In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me.
    56 But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.
    -Matthew 26: kjv

    ~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~

     His arrest took place in the Beautiful Garden of Gethsemane during the middle of the night as a mixed mob arrived to take Jesus.  The devil always seems to do his dirty work at night. The Roman soldiers came with swords and the Jewish temple men had staves (clubs). The sign was necessary  to identify Jesus to the Romans.  Judas came up to Jesus and kissed Him, - the sign of betrayal of the One he still falsely called Master.

    On came the soldiers toward Jesus, then Peter drew his sword,  and stuck a servant of the high priest's and smote off his ear.   Jesus lovingly healed him by replacing the ear. (His last miracle before His Crucifixion.) Twelve legions of angels could have been called to His aid, Each Roman legion had six thousand soldiers.  Christ's restraint is due to His willingness to obey the will of the Father and so fulfill the scriptures and the fact that He loved you and me so much. That is how much God loved us. Enough to give up His Only Son.  What Love!

    For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,

    that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. -John 3:16

    ~~ Ballad of the Cross ~~

    (Verse 1)
    By the prophets, God foretold of the sending of His Son
    Who would give His life to set the captive free.
    Stepping down from His throne and the glory He had known,
    Jesus came to give His life for you and me. Though He knew well the cost,
    He was prepared to suffer loss and give Himself as ransom for us all.
    Into our hopeless world He came, Endured the suffering and the shame,
    Every moment staying faithful to the call.

    (Verse2)
    Yet the One who spoke of love was rejected and despised;
    He knew all too well the sinful heart of men.
    Those with eyes refused to see; hose with ears refused to hear,
    as they sought a way to bring Him to an end.
    By a friend He was betrayed, By soldiers, led away,
    Yet for this very hour He had come. They did not take - He freely gave;
    For those He came to save, the road to the cross He walked alone.

    He could have called a million angels to His side,
    Or stepped down from the cross and walked away.
    Yet His love held Him there, Through the pain and despair,
    To free us from the debt we could not pay.

    (Verse3)
    In His suffering and pain Took the guilt and the shame
    As He hung between the heavens and the ground.
    Every nail, every thorn  Every stare, every scorn
    pierced the One who so freely laid it down.
    With His face to the sky, It is finished!" was His cry
    The words that broke the gates of hell. When His final words were said,
    Breathed His last, bowed His head, Darkness o'er the land so quickly fell.

    Yet death and darkness could not stand against His power:
    He rose, victorious o'er the grave. In His light we now may live,
    By the grace He came to give
    All who call upon His name are surely saved!
    All who call upon His name are surely saved!

    Garden of Agony

    JESUS IN THE GARDEN OF GETHSEMANE

    )/ \)/ \(/ \/ \(/ \(/ \)/ \)/)/ \)/ \(/ \/ \(/ \(/ \)/ \)/

    36 Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.
    37 And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.
    38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.
    39 And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

    40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?
    41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

    42 He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.
    43 And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.
    44 And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.
    45 Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
    46 Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me. -MATTHEW 26 Kjv

     Oh the agony of Christ, no man has ever known, as he prayed in the garden just across the Kidron valley from Jerusalem. Gethsemane means "the oil press" .Gethsemane was a favorite place where Jesus went often while in Jerusalem to pray and be with His Disciples. The disciples that he took had witnessed His transfiguration and now they are witnessing His agony in the garden.

      It seems that Satan wanted to kill Christ before He could get to the Cross, but God heard His prayer and saved Him from death. -Heb. 5:7 Luke 22: 43-44.  If Satan could have succeeded in killing Christ anytime from infancy to the Cross he could have defeated God's plan of redemption. In the awful anguish of that moment, the sin of the world was poured on Christ and He became "sin for us" 2 Cor. 5: 21.  He took man's sin and died a substitute death for guilty mankind.  Christ willingly went to the cross where He put an end to satanic powers and triumphed over them. Col. 2: 14-17 Thank you Lord!

    Enjoy the following article from John Lawrence

     This place was called "Gethsemane or "the oil press."
    Originally among the olive trees there must have been an oil press to press out the oil from the olive berries. The name remained even though the press may have no longer been there. The name remained because under the providence of God it is going to have spiritual significance.
    Here in this garden the Lord will labor in prayer and spiritually press out the oil from the olive which will become for many a wounded lamb and sheep.
    Adam was placed in a Garden and he learned about disobedience and its consequences.
    The Second Adam voluntarily went to a Garden and He learned obedience by the things that He suffered. The victory was won in the Garden for Christ departs victorious. The actual defeat of Satan was not accomplished, of course, until Calvary.
    Adam hid himself from God in the Garden; Christ agonized before the Lord in another Garden.
    It was in the Garden when man lost his right to live, and it is in a garden when Christ gained His right to resurrection: "Who in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto Him that was able to save Him from death, and was heard in that He feared" (Heb. 5:7)."

    ~~IN THE GARDEN ~~

    In the Garden of Gethsemane I ponder,
    With a sorrow unto death, to You I cry.
    Though my calling leads me onward
    To the suff'ring of the cross,
    I pray this cup would pass me by.

    (Verse 2)
    I'm alone for all my friends have grown too weary,
    In the darkness of the hour, I am undone.
    Yet again, I plead and pray,
    Dear Father, take this cup away,
    And spare the suff'ring of Your Son.

    (Chorus 1)
    Must I lay down my life in agony,
    Must I bear all the sin and shame?
    Must You soon turn Your face away from me,
    As the people mock my Name?
    There is nothing that You cannot do,
    So once again, I cry:
    My Father, let this cup now pass me by,
    My Father, let this cup now pass me by!

    The Last Supper

    THE LAST SUPPER IN THE UPPER ROOM

    17 Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the pass-over?
    18 And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples.
    19 And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the passover.
    20 Now when the even was come, he sat down with the twelve.
    21 And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.
    22 And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I?
    23 And he answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me.
    24 The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born.
    25 Then Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said.
    26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.
    27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;
    28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
    29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.
    30 And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.

    -Matthew 26: 17-30 -Kjv

    The night before Jesus death He ate with His disciples in the Upper room. It was also known as the Passover Meal. It was to be a Memorial Supper to be kept in loving remembrance until Jesus comes again.  The bread represents His body, while the wine represents His Blood.  Christ's own blood atoned for sin and it alone can redeem us. I am thankful for the Blood of Jesus

    There that night He tenderly washes the disciples feet showing His love for them.  It is also here that Jesus announces his betrayer. He lets them know that one of His closest friends will betray Him. How sad that Judas would forsake Him. Jesus tells us that one day we can  partake of eating and drinking with all the resurrected saints. What a day that will be!

    Nothing But The  Blood of Jesus

    What can wash away our sins? Nothing but the blood
    What can make us whole again? Nothing but the blood
    Oh Precious is the flow, that makes me white as snow

    No other fount I know, Nothing but the Blood of Jesus

    Day Star

    ~~Day Star~~

    We have also a more sure word of prophecy; hereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:-2 Peter 1: 19 Kjv

    *

    Do you like to stargaze? Our boys always did and still do. I like to gaze on the " Bright and Morning Star" Jesus

    It gives me much joy and peace to gaze on the Bright and Morning Star- Jesus.

      When we gaze into His loving face, we always come away refreshed. Even in our darkest hours we have the Star shining brightly.  There is no darkness where the Star is.

    We obtain light for our journey. We need the light, so others can see Jesus the Star that far outshines all the sun, moon, or other galaxies.

    Rise and Shine!  Shine for Jesus!

    *

    DayStar Shine Down On Me

    Lily of the Valley, let your sweet aroma fill my life
    Rose of Sharon show me how to grow in beauty in God's sight
    Fairest of ten thousand make me a reflection of your light
    Daystar shine down on me let your love shine through me in the night

    Lead me Lord, I'll follow. Anywhere you open up the door
    Let your word speak to me, show me what I've never seen before
    Lord I want to be your witness, you can take what's wrong and make it right
    Daystar shine down on me, let your love shine through me in the night

    Lord I've seen a world that's dying wounded by the master of deceit
    Groping in the darkness, haunted by the years of past defeat
    But when I see you standing near me shining with compassion in your eyes
    I pray Jesus shine down on me let your love shine through me in the night

    Lead me Lord, I'll follow anywhere you open up the door
    Let your word speak to me, show me what I've never seen before
    Lord I want to be your witness, you can take what's wrong and make it right
    Daystar shine down on me, let your love shine through me in the night

    At the Feet of Jesus

    ~~ Sitting at the Feet of Jesus ~~

    38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.
    39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word.
    40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
    41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
    42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her

    - Luke 10 -KJV

     ~~ Sitting at the feet of Jesus  ~~

    Sung with the tune of "Where the Roses Never Fade

    1- Sitting at the feet of Jesus,
    Oh, what words I hear Him say!
    Happy place! so near, so precious!
    May it find me there each day;
    Sitting at the feet of Jesus,
    I would look upon the past;
    For His love has been so gracious,
    It has won my heart at last.

    2- Sitting at the feet of Jesus,
    Where can mortal be more blest?
    There I lay my sins and sorrows,
    And, when weary, find sweet rest;
    Sitting at the feet of Jesus,
    There I love to weep and pray;
    While I from His fullness gather
    Grace and comfort every day.

    3- Bless me, O my Savior, bless me,
    As I sit low at Thy feet;
    Oh, look down in love upon me,
    Let me see Thy face so sweet;
    Give me, Lord, the mind of Jesus,
    Keep me holy as He is;
    May I prove I’ve been with Jesus,
    Who is all my righteousness

    House of God

      For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand.

    I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God,

    than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

    -Psalm 84: 10

    David loved his Master, and loved his work so well, that he desired to be in this service forever,  Even being a doorkeeper was a privilege for him. He compared just one day with God to a thousand ordinary days.

    The tents are wicked are usually considered to be rich, powerful, glorious, and splendid. but the pleasures of sin are but for a season.  The world passes away, and the lust thereof.

    There is nothing like being in the presence of God. It is good to draw near to God  when we come into His House. There is nothing to compare with the sweet communion with God.  God's children should delight to be in His presence and close to the Master.

    Enjoy the following poem, I came upon.

    ~~Don't wait until the hearse hauls you to church ~~

    Don't wait until the hearse hauls you to church. If you do -
    You will go, regardless of the weather.
    You will go, regardless of the condition of your body.
    There will be beautiful flowers there, but you won't enjoy them.
    You will go, regardless of how your family feels.
    The minister may say many good things, but they will do you no good.
    There will be beautiful music, but you won't hear it.
    There will be heartfelt prayers, but they will not touch your heart.
    There will be friends and relatives there, but you won't worship with them.
    You will go, no matter how many hypocrites are there.
    You will go, no matter how much you are needed at home or at work.
    You will receive no blessing from the service.
    You won't feel concerned about your clothes.
    You will never have to decide about attending church again.
    Well, aren't you glad to be alive and well and full of zest

    and able " to choose" to go to church? -Author unknown

    For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,

     that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life

    The Call to Repentance

    ~The  Church Of Laodicea ~

    **************************************

    Continuation of Rev. 3 and  highlights about the Church of Laodicea.

    14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
    15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
    16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
    17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
    18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eye-salve, that thou mayest see.
    19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
    20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
    21 To him that over-cometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
    22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

    -Revelation 3 KJV

    The Faithful and True one is the One who created all things in the very beginning.  He is the eternal God. "Faithful," that is, trustworthy.   The "Amen" expresses the unchangeable truth of His promises.

    There are four things about the Laodicea Church that wasn't pleasing to God.

    1. Their Works - Neither hot or cold

    2. Lukewarm and nauseating

    3. Proud and self-satisfied

    4. Ignorant of true state

    The church itself thought highly of themselves.  They said, we are rich, increased with goods and have need of nothing.  Lukewarm and self-sufficient. It is so sad, but it appears that some of the churches today are like that.  They seem to have no need of God or His Spirit. God hate lukewarm!

    Christ counseled them to "buy of Me, gold tried in the fire- White Raiment and anoint their eyes with eye-salve, be zealous and repent".  He urged the church to repent as He is doing today.  He paid the ultimate price and now man is obligated to meet Gods terms of faith, repentance, and service if he wants to be redeemed.

    God's dealings, so altogether unlike man's, in the case of all whom I love, rebuke, "(the Holy Ghost) will convince (rebuke unto conviction) the world of sin." God doesn't want anyone to perish. Oh why will not people renounce Satan, repent of sins and consecrate themselves to God?  True, we will face  suffering  and persecution, for God's Word says so, -- Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. 2 Timothy 3: 12. But it will be worth it at the end of the way.

     God doesn't want anyone to be lost in the end. Today He stands at the door and knocks.  He is inviting man to come hear His voice and open the door.  He so wants to come in!  He will be your dearest and closest fiend.

    THE BIBLE SAYS ---

     "All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23),

     The "wages [earnings] of sin is death" (Romans 6:23),

     But the "[free] gift of God is Eternal Life through Jesus Christ our LORD" (Romans 6:23),

     ---"if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the LORD Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved" (Romans 10:9)

     ---"for whosoever shall call upon the Name of the LORD shall be saved" (Romans 10:13).

    SUCH A BEAUTIFUL, SIMPLE PLAN FOR OUR LIVES

    Behold I stand at the door and knock

    He loves all people. Come unto Him.
    Do not ignore God anymore.
    He is knocking.
    He is knocking louder!
    He is waiting at the door.
    Receive Him. Welcome Him.
    Do not reject Him. Please let Him in!

    For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

    Alabaster Box

    ~Lord Let Your Fragrance Fill Our Lives~

    The Alabaster Box

    “There came to Jesus a woman having an alabaster box of very costly fragrant oil, and she poured it on his head . . .

    7 There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat.
    8 But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste?
    9 For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.
    10 When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me.
    11 For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.
    12 For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial.
    13 Verily I say unto you, Where so ever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.

    -Matthew 26:7-13

    What an Honor!

    What this woman did was done in love and Christ received it as such. She didn't seem to mind how much it cost or what those nearby thought of her  She only felt Love for her Lord.  Jesus knew her heart and gave her great honor. This woman has a memorial to her, but think about her eternal reward.  We can never love our Lord too much or do too much for Him

     ~Alabaster Box Song~

    The room grew still
    As she made her way to Jesus
    She stumbles through the tears
    That made her blind
    She felt such pain
    Some spoke in anger
    Heard folks whisper
    There's no place here for her kind.
    Still on she came
    Through the shame that flushed her face
    Until at last she knelt before HIS feet
    And though she spoke no words
    Everything she said was heard
    As she poured her love for the MASTER
    From her box of Alabaster

    And I've to come to pour
    My praise on HIM like oil
    From Mary's Alabaster Box
    Don't be angry if I wash HIS feet with my tears
    And I dry them with my hair
    You weren't there the night HE found me
    You did not feel what I felt
    When HE wrapped HIS love all around me
    And you don't know the cost
    Of the oil in my Alabaster Box

    I can't forget the way life used to be
    I was a prisoner to the sin that had me bound
    And I spent my days
    Poured my life without measure
    Into a little treasure box I thought I found
    Until the day when JESUS came to me
    And healed my soul with the wonder
    Of HIS touch

    So now I'm giving back to Him all the praise He's worthy of
    I've been forgiven and that's why I love Him so much

    Handfuls on Purpose

    ~~ Handfuls  on  Purpose ~~

    Then she (Ruth) said, Let me find favor in thy sight, my lord;

      for that thou hast comforted me, and for that thou hast spoken friendly unto thine handmaid,

      though I be not like unto one of thine handmaidens.
    And Boaz said unto her, At mealtime come thou hither, and eat of the bread, and dip thy morsel in the vinegar.

      And she sat beside the reapers: and he reached her parched corn, and she did eat, and was sufficed, and left.
    And when she was risen up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying,
    Let her glean even among the sheaves, and reproach her not:
    And let fall also some of the handfuls of purpose for her,

      and leave them, that she may glean them, and rebuke her not.
      So she gleaned in the field until even, and beat out that she had gleaned:

    and it was about an ephah of barley.   -Ruth 2: 13-17

    This is one of the most beautiful Bible stories.

     This weekend Rowan, our grand daughter wanted me to tell her a story.

    I decided to tell her the "Story of Ruth." since my husband and I had just finished reading it,

     and  I could not seem to get it out of  my mind.  I told Rowan the whole story as it came to mind.  Here is a small part of it, but you can read the rest of the story in Ruth

    Ruth showed marks of good training and how much she really cared for Naomi,  and now there was the opportunity to glean in Boaz field.

    Boaz was a rich and influential landowner.  He was also a kind and considerate employer and was in the direct line of the Messiah.  He showed respect and courtesy to Ruth and others.  He chose to be a channel for happiness and a man of high moral character.

    This was a rare privilege for Ruth to be able to glean among the sheaves.  Ordinarily, no person was allowed to glean until  the sheaves until all were bound and the shocks set.  Boaz had his blessings were upon her and she was not to be reproached or rebuked and his young men were instructed to drop

    HANDFULS ON PURPOSE FOR HER!

    This shows the interest Boaz had in the Moabite Ruth.  She gleaned an ephod and that was heavy load for a young woman to carry into the city about 60 pounds .....

    Perhaps Boaz carried it for her!

    He did seem to take notice of her.

     Naomi had instructed Ruth to seek out Boaz,  as it was a custom to marry someone next of kin.   Ruth requested that Boaz spread his skirt over the  handmaid.  It is a symbolic pledge of marriage and reflects a well-known custom in the ancient Near East that is still practiced in some quarters. The Lord made it easy as He so moved in the lives of Boaz and Ruth that the duties of family institutions were reinforced by a genuine love for one another

    The story ends with the gift of a child to an empty womb.  The Lord  gave her conception, and she bare a son.  Ruth 4: 13

    From the union of Boaz and Ruth was to come the line of descendants that gave birth to King David, through whom came Jesus Christ.

    God provides for us always and sometimes even leaves ---

    HANDFULS ON PURPOSE

     For God so loved the world,

      that he gave his only begotten Son,

    that whosoever believeth in him should not perish,

      but have everlasting life.

    My friend Lois Jernigan gave me the words to this song.  Thank you so much Lois

    Enjoy!

    ~~Handful of Purpose~~
     As sung the McKamey's
      Verse 1
    Looking o'er, His field He saw her,
    as she gathered scattered grain,
    Just a Moabitish woman,
    seeking solace in her pain,
    Seeing more, than just a widow,
    Boaz gave, command so kind,
    Let fall handful on purpose,
    Till I make this stranger mine.

    Cho.
    Handful on purpose, plotted efforts of grace,
    Handful, on purpose, brought me to His sweet embrace,
    When I could not, find fulfillment, doomed forever, to be lost,
    Handful, on purpose, brought this seeker to the cross.

    verse 2
    Just a poor, starving sinner,
    I gleaned all, the world could hold,
    Grasping here, and there a morsel,
    I sought in vain, to fill my soul,
    But my kinsman redeemer,
    loved this stranger, in the field,
    He dropped handful of gospel glory,
    Till His purpose was revealed

    Cho...again...

    Hammer of Love

       ~The Anvil of Love~

    So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that smote the anvil, saying, It is ready for the sodering: and he fastened it with nails, that it should not be moved. But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.
    Thou whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away.
      - Isaiah 41, 4-9

    They were warned not be afraid of the invasion of Cyrus.  The encouragement here was to make new images for the temples and thus obtain the favor of the gods whom the people trusted to rescue them from Cyrus;  so they fashioned idols and set them in their places that they should not be moved (V 6,7). Read the whole story in Isaiah 41

     The various countries feared Cyrus  and united against him The isles (maritime countries) and the far off parts of Egypt, Palestine, and Asia Minor saw this coming struggle and, in fear, they came together in a federation to fight Cyrus.

    They were hammering in fear against the oncoming slough of foreign countries.

    Are we hammering in fear against daily pressures of life? Let Jesus hammer His anvil of love into our hearts so we can live a victorious life. It may hurt when he knocks against our hearts of bitterness, unforgivenss and more hidden things, but will be worth it because --He Hammers in Love.

      An anvil is a manufacturing tool, made of a hard and massive block of stone or metal used as a support for chiseling and hammering other objects, such as in forging iron and steel items.

    THE ANVIL

    Last eve I paused beside the blacksmith's door,
    And heard the anvil ring the vesper chime;
    Then looking in, I saw upon the floor,
    Old hammers, worn with beating years of time.

    How many anvils have you had,' said I,
    To wear and batter all these hammers so?
    Just one,' said he, and then with twinkling eye,
    The anvil wears the hammers out, you know.

    And so, I thought, the Anvil of God's Word
    For ages skeptic blows have beat upon;
    Yet, though the noise of falling blows was heard,
    The Anvil is unharmed, the hammers gone.

    Battlefield of Life

       ~The Battle Field of Life~

    “Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

    And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

    Ephesians 6: 14 – 17

    "But thanks be unto God, which giveth us the

    victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

    " 1 Cor. 15:57

    Martin Luther wrote the following poem below about the battlefield.

      Battlefield of Life
    Everyday life is our front line in the war against the devil. God Himself must decide where each of us is to fight. We cannot choose the battlefield we prefer. If you conquered a problem today in the strength of Jesus Christ, that was a victory. You are now stronger for the end battle.

    And though this world, with devils filled,
    Should threaten to undo us,
    We will not fear, for God hath willed,
    His truth to triumph through us.
    The Prince of Darkness grim,
    We tremble not for him;
    His rage we can endure,
    For lo! his doom is sure;
    One little word shall fell him.

     For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

    God Really Cares

    He Really Cares About You!

    Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 1 Peter 5: 7--

    This Psalm below is a great reminder for us to know how much He cares for all of us

      As for God, his way is perfect:

    the word of the LORD is tried:

    he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.

      For who is God save the LORD?

      or who is a rock save our God?

      It is God that girdeth me with strength,

      and maketh my way perfect.

      He maketh my feet like hinds' feet,

    and setteth me upon my high places.

      He teacheth my hands to war,

    so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.

      Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation:

    and thy right hand hath holden me up,

    and thy gentleness hath made me great.

    --Psalm 18

      God does care for us.  His mercies are great.

     He continually inspires us in the Word.

    It boggles my mind sometimes to think of people who look

    everywhere for help -- except to God.

    Oh!  He so longs to share and bear our burdens

    that we encounter along the path of life.

    Bring all your needs to Him today and  see, just how much

     He Really Does  Care.

    ~~Overheard in an Orchard~~

    Said the robin to the sparrow,
    "I would really like to know
    Why those anxious human beings
    rush around and worry so."

    Said the sparrow to the robin,
    "Friend, I think that it must be
    That they have no Heavenly Father
    such as cares for you and me."

    The Master Gardener

    ~~God's Beautiful Garden ~~

     Photo of Art's Stargazer Lily of last year

    )/ \)/ \(/ \/ \(/ \(/ \)/ \)/)/ \)/ \(/ \/ \(/ \(/ \)/ \)/

    Art just put out some new flowers in our yard.  He is the green thumb in our family. When I plant something it doesn't seem to grow right.

    Spring is a beautiful time as it burst forth to portray God's blessings.  I like to look out my bedroom window each Spring and notice our dogwood tree budding and the new ground cover vines raising their heads for another season of beauty. The snow crocus and yellow daffodils which are  usually about the first in bloom.  The fragrance of a flower in Spring is refreshing and reminds us of new life.  Flowers have a way of saying, "There's new Life" The most beautiful flowers will be in Heaven, but while we're here on earth we have to continue to attend to them by digging weeds etc.  We only have a small garden, but---

    There was once another Garden of Beauty and it was God's Garden of Eden

    God took care of the watering it with a cool mist.
    One can almost hear the entire firmament echoing with the sound of the Great One's order:

    "And from the ground the Lord God caused to grow every tree that was pleasing to the sight and good for food,In the beginning, the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters." (Gen. 1:2),

    Everything seemed to be perfect and proper and just the right place to fellowship with God,
    in Eden:

     with the tree of life in the middle of the garden and the tree of knowledge of good and bad" (Gen. 2:9).

    Was Adam and Eve content?

      It seem that they were not.

      They listened to the serpent instead of God, who so much wanted fellowship with man.

    So we find they had to leave the beautiful garden of Eden.

    23 Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
    24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life. Genesis 3:

    You can read the whole story in Genesis 1-3.

    ~In the Garden~

    I come to the garden alone,
    While the dew is still on the roses;
    And the voice I hear,
    Falling on my ear;
    The Son of God discloses.

    He speaks,  And the sound of His voice
    Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
    And the melody  That he gave to me,
    With in my  heart is ringing.

    I'd stay in the garden with Him,
    Tho' the night a-round me be falling,
    But he bids me go; Thru the voice of woe,
    His voice to me is calling.

    (chorus)
    And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
    And He tells me I am His own,
    And the joy we share as we tarry there,
    None other has ever known.

    Awesome God

    The Works of Our Awesome God

    “When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers,

    the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

    What is man, that thou art mindful of him?

    and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

    --Psalm 8: 3, 4KJV

    GOD'S BEAUTIFUL CLOUDS

    No wonder they're so beautiful.  They were made by the fingers of God.

    We as a family have always liked to observe the sky, moon and stars.  Many a night after dark our children has laid out and looked up into the sky trying to find the stars by name and location.   Isn't it wonderful to know that God our Maker, put them all there and knows them all by their names.  A mighty God is He!

     David considered the heavens and seemed to think that man looked small in comparison and he asked the question, "What is man that thou art mindful of him?" But God is concerned about us! Oh yes He is.  He loves us so much, that even the hairs of our head are numbered.  I love Him so.

      Are we really hungry for God.  Michael W. Smith wrote a beautiful worship song called --

    ~Awesome God~

    When He rolls up His sleeves
    He ain't just puttin' on the Ritz
    (our God is an Awesome God)
    There is thunder in His footsteps
    And lightning in His fists
    (our God is an Awesome God)
    Well the Lord He wasn't jokin'
    when He kicked 'em out of Eden
    It wasn't for no reason that He shed His blood
    His return is very close and so you better be believin'
    That our God is an Awesome God

    He spoke into the darkness and created the light

    Songs in the Night

     Songs in the Night

    Thou hast proved mine heart;

      thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me,

    and shalt find nothing;

    I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.

     Psalm 17: 3

    Yet the LORD will command his lovingkindness in the day time,

    and in the night his song shall be with me,

      and my prayer unto the God of my life. Psalm 42: 8 KJV

    NIGHT WATCH

    A nurse took the tired, anxious serviceman to the bedside. "Your son is here," she said to the old man. She had to repeat the words several times before the patient's eyes opened. Heavily sedated because of the pain of his heart attack, he dimly saw the young uniformed Marine standing outside the oxygen tent. He reached out his hand. The Marine wrapped his toughened fingers around the old man's limp ones, squeezing a message of love and encouragement.

    The nurse brought a chair so that the Marine could sit beside the bed. All through the night the young Marine sat there in the poorly lighted ward, holding the old man's hand and offering him words of love and strength. Occasionally, the nurse suggested that the Marine move away and rest awhile. He refused. Whenever the nurse came into the ward, the Marine was oblivious of her and of the night noises of the hospital - the clanking of the oxygen tank, the laughter of the night staff members exchanging greetings, the cries and moans of the other patients. Now and then she heard him say a few gentle words. The dying man said nothing, only held tightly to his son all through the night. Along towards dawn, the old man died. The Marine released the now lifeless hand he had been holding and went to tell the nurse. While she did what she had to do, he waited.

    Finally, she returned. She started to offer words of sympathy, but the Marine interrupted her.
    "Who was that man?" he asked.
    The nurse was startled, "He was your father," she answered. "No, he wasn't," the Marine replied. "I never saw him before in my life." "Then why didn't you say something when I took you to him?"
    "I knew right away there had been a mistake, but I also knew he needed his son, and his son just wasn't here. When I realized that he was too sick to tell whether or not I was his son, knowing how much he needed me, I stayed ."

    Prayer

    Praying always with all prayer

     and supplication in the Spirit,

     and watching thereunto with all perseverance

     and supplication for all saints;

    We are commanded to pray and pray always.  It is contact with our Heavenly Father that lets us enjoy His nearness and blessings.

    There are many ways to pray.  It is an important part of the armor of God. Supplication means entreating continued strong and incessant pleading until the prayer is answered.

    Without watching with all perseverance, our prayers and Christian armor will be ineffectual.  Mk. 13: 33 Heb. 13: 17

    Enjoy the simple prayer outline below that someone had put together.

    The Finger Prayer

    Your thumb is nearest you. So begin your prayers by praying for those closest to you. They are the easiest to remember. To pray for our loved ones is, as C. S. Lewis once said, a "sweet duty."

    next finger is the pointing finger. Pray for those who teach, instruct and heal. This includes teachers, doctors, and ministers. They need support and wisdom in pointing others in the right direction. Keep them in your prayers.

    3 The
    next finger is the tallest finger. It reminds us of our leaders. Pray for the president, leaders in business and industry, and administrators These people shape our N a tion and guide public opinion. They need God's guidance.

    4. The
    fourth finger is our ring finger. Surprising to many is the fact that this is our weakest finger, as any piano teacher will testify. It should remind us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble or in pain. They need your prayers day and night. You cannot pray too much for them.

    5. And lastly comes our
    little finger - the smallest finger of all which is where we should place ourselves in relation to God and others. As the Bible says, "The least shall be the greatest among you." Your pinkie should remind you to pray for yourself. By the time you have prayed for the other four groups, your own needs will be put into proper perspective and you will be able to pray for yourself more effectively.

    Reading God's Word

    For the word of God is quick,

     and powerful,

    and sharper than any two-edged sword,

     piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit,

     and of the joints and marrow,

     and is a discerner of the thoughts

    and intents of the heart.

     -Hebrews 12: 4

    This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth;

    but thou shalt meditate therein day and night,

    that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein:

    for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous,

     and then thou shalt have good success.

    -Joshua 1: 8

    In  Bible Reading it is good to read the Bible

    CHURCH AT THYATIRA

     THE CHURCH AT THYATIRA  - The Commended Church

    A FEW HIGH LIGHTS OF REV. CHAPTER 2: VERSE 18-29

    18 And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass;
    19 I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.
    20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.
    21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.
    22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.
    23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.
    24 But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden.
    25 But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.
    26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:
    27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.
    28 And I will give him the morning star.
    29 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

    The church was commended for six things

    1. Works
    2. Charity
    3. Service
    4. Faith
    5. Patience
    6. Increased works

    How great it must be to be commended by God.  Their works had increased until they were more than the first works. Yet there were four things working against Thyatira

    1. Permitting Jezebel to teach
    2. Permitting her to seduce My servants (Christians) to commit fornication
    3. Permitting her to seduce Christians to eat things sacrificed to idols.
    4. Tolerating her in spite of impenitence

    This is not the Jezebel of 1 Kings 18-19 but a woman in the local church at Thyatira. Many of the ancients have delivered, that this was the wife of the pastor himself. Jezebel of old led the people of God to open idolatry. This Jezebel, fitly called by her name, from the resemblance between their works, led them to partake in the idolatry of the heathens. This she seems to have done by first enticing them to fornication, just as Balaam did: whereas at Pergamos they were first enticed to idolatry, and afterwards to fornication. This local woman had been given time to repent, but did not. verse 21.  There was a 3-fold judgment threatened:  Cast her into a bed of sickness verse 22 - Bring tribulation upon all that commit adultery with her. verse 22 and to kill her children with death verse 23.  They called their doctrine the depths of God, but here Christ called it the depths of Satan Rev. 12: 9

    There are 3 things all Christians must do.

    1. Hold fast till He comes - verse 25
    2. Overcome
    3. Keep His works unto the end

    Then the four things are promised for overcoming

    1. Power over the nations verse 26
    2. Ruling nations with a rod of iron verse 27
    3. Crushing all resistance of nations,  vere27
    4. The promise of the  morning star in verse 28

    Jesus,  the morning star! O give thyself to me! Then will I desire no sun, only thee, who art the sun also. He whom this star enlightens has always morning and no evening.  And he that, after having conquered his enemies, keeps the works of Christ to the end, shall have the morning star, - an unspeakable brightness and peaceable dominion in him.

    What a day that will be when the saints will be kings or priests under Christ and will rule the earth forever -verses 26-27: 1: 6; 5: 10; 20: 4-6 and Rev 22: 4-5.

    We really have much to look forward to in the future!

    Letter to Pergamos

     THE CHURCH AT PERGAMOS

     A FEW HIGHLIGHTS OF REVELATION CHAPTER 2: VERSE 12-18

    12 And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges;
    13 I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.
    14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.
    15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitanes, which thing I hate.
    16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
    17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

    There  were 3 commands given to the church  at Pergamos

    1. Works - verse 13
    2. Holding fast to Christ's name verse 13
    3. Not denying the faith - verse 13

    In the book called The acts of Antipasto which makes him bishop of Pergamos and states that he was put to death by being enclosed in a burning brazen bull.

    In verse 14-15 there are 4 things condemned

    1. Holding the doctrine of Balaam
    2. Eating things sacrificed to idols
    3. Committing fornication
    4. Holding the doctrine of Nicola tans

    The Nicolaitans was a heretic or a sect of Gnostic who practiced and taught impure and immoral doctrines, such as the community of wives, that committing adultery and fornication was not sinful, and that eating meats offered to idols was lawful.  This was similar to the doctrines of Balaam and Jezebel.

    Verse 16 says to repent .  Sounds as if they were backslid. They were urged to repent  or be judged.  According to this, if backsliders today do not repent what happens?

    In verse 17 we see that the over-comer is promised heaven. The white stone was also  known as victory stones to the ancients. They meant pardon and the evidence of it..  Judges had white and black stones.  If a black one was given the criminal he was condemned;  if a white stone he would be pardoned.  Conquerors in the public games were also given white stones with their names in them, which entitled them to be supported the rest of their lives at public expense.  Perhaps all three things are meant by the white stone to the over-comer.

    THE CHURCH ON THE AVENUE

    God bless the church on the avenue.

    That hears the city's cry:

    The church that sows the seed of the Word

    Where the masses of men go by.

    A church that makes, in the traffic's roar,

    A place for an altar of prayer.

    With a heart for the rich and a heart for the poor.

    And looks for the burden to share

    A church that is true to the call of Christ.

    Who wept for the city's need:

    Who sent His Disciple's to labor for Him.

    Where the forces of evil breed.

    A church that gives and a church that lives.

    As seen by the Master's eye;

    God bless the church on the avenue

    That answers the city's cry.

    THE OLD PATHS

    SEARCH OUT THE OLD PATHS

    Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein. Jeremiah 6: 16

    Because my people hath forgotten me, they have burned incense to vanity, and they have caused them to stumble in their ways from the ancient paths, to walk in paths, in a way not cast up; Jeremiah 18: 15

    And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them. - Isaiah 42: 16

    The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace.

     The following poem is long, but worth the read. I received it in an email from a  church friend.  Enjoy

    THE OLD PATHS

    I liked the old paths, when

    Moms were at home.

    Dads were at work.

    Brothers went into the army.

    And sisters got married BEFORE having children!

    Crime did not pay;

    Hard work did;

    And people knew the difference.

    Moms could cook;

    Dads would work;

    Children would behave.

    Husbands were loving;

    Wives were supportive;

    And children were polite.

    Women wore the jewelry;

    And Men wore the pants.

    Women looked like ladies;

    Men looked like gentlemen;

    And children looked decent.

    People loved the truth,

    And hated a lie;

    They came to church to get IN,

    Not to get OUT!

    Hymns sounded Godly;

    Sermons sounded helpful;

    Rejoicing sounded normal;

    And crying sounded sincere.

    Cursing was wicked;

    Drinking was evil;

    and divorce was unthinkable.

    The flag was honored;

    America was beautiful;

    And God was welcome!

    We read the Bible in public;

    Prayed in school;

    And preached from house to house

    To be called an American was worth dying for;

    To be called a Christian was worth living for;

    To be called a traitor was a shame!

    Sex was a personal word.

    Homosexual was an unheard of word,

    And abortion was an illegal word.

    Preachers preached because they had a message;

    And Christians rejoiced because they had the VICTORY!

    Preachers preached from the Bible;

    Singers sang from the heart;

    And sinners turned to the Lord to be SAVED!

    A new birth meant a new life;

    Salvation meant a changed life;

    Following Christ led to eternal life.

    Being a preacher meant you proclaimed the word of God;

    Being a deacon meant you would serve the Lord;

    Being a Christian meant you would live for Jesus;

    And being a sinner meant someone was praying for you!

    Laws were based on the Bible;

    Homes read the Bible;

    And churches taught the Bible.

    Preachers were more interested in new converts,

    Than new clothes and new cars.

    God was worshiped;

    Christ was exalted;

    and the Holy Spirit was respected.

    Church was where you found Christians

    on the Lord's day, rather than in the garden,

    on the creek bank, on the golf course,

    or being entertained somewhere else.

    I still like the old paths the best!

    "The Old Paths" was written by a retired minister who lives
    in Tennessee.

    And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. Micah 4: 2

    THE REAL MESSIAH

    Jesus is His Name

    1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,
    2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
    3 When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
    4 And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.
    5 And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet,
    6 And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.
    7 Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.
    8 And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.

    • Jesus warned us about these people whom would come proclaiming to be the Messiah.
    • Jesus  was anointed to be our  Messiah .  He will  come in the future to bring ultimate peace on earth;
    • Jesus is the one who is  to be a Savior or liberator.
    • Jesus is the one who will bring peace to this earth and reign for ever more.
    • Look not for another one.  He is the only True Messiah
    • Jesus is His Name. Jesus is our only hope.

    DELIVERANCE WILL BE FROM THE LORD

    20 And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD.
    21 As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed, saith the LORD, from henceforth and for ever. - Isaiah 59: 20-21

    He is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and he came to earth as a human. He is our Lord and there is no other. John 1:1-2,14:

    1. In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. 2. He was with God in the beginning. 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.

    HIS NAME IS JESUS.

    Growing In Grace

     Grace - God's Riches At Christ's Expence

    5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
    6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
    7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
    8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: 1 Peter 1: 5-8

    But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen 2 Peter 3" 18

    2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
    3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. 1 Peter 2: 2-3

    I know that we are kept by the Power of God.  He is our only help in time of need.

     So many stand in need of a touch from God including us.

     Our son Chris has been hospitalized in India with a case of food poisoning.  Now the big earthquake over there near

    where he is stationed, but we serve a big God, whom is able to help us in our difficulties.

    Please remember him in your prayers for his saftey until he returns back to Atlanta this weekend.

    Go Fly A Kite

    Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward. Job 5:7

    He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found: yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night. Job 20:8

    And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind. Psalm 18:10

    Enjoy the poem below that John Newton wrote.

    The Kite and it's String

    Once on a time a paper kite
    Was mounted to a wondrous height,
    Where, giddy with its elevation,
    It thus expressed self-admiration:

    "See how yon crowds of gazing people
    Admire my flight above the steeple;
    How would they wonder if they knew
    All that a kite like me can do!

    Were I but free, I'd take a flight,
    And pierce the clouds beyond their sight,
    But, ah! like a poor pris'ner bound,
    My string confines me near the ground;

    I'd brave the eagle's towering wing,
    Might I but fly without a string."
    It tugged and pull, while thus it spoke,
    To break the string--at last it broke.

    Deprived at once of all its stay,
    In vain it tried to soar away;
    Unable its own weight to bear,
    It fluttered downward through the air;

    Unable its own course to guide,
    The winds soon plunged it in the tide.
    Ah! foolish kite, thou hadst no wing,
    How could'st thou fly without a string!

    My heart replied, "O Lord, I see
    How much this kite resembles me!
    Forgetful that by thee I stand,
    Impatient of thy ruling hand;
    How oft I've wished to break the lines
    Thy wisdom for my lot assigns?

    How oft indulged a vain desire
    For something more, or something higher?
    And, but for grace and love divine,
    A fall thus dreadful had been mine."

    --John Newton

    DID YOU KNOW - Kites date back to as far as 3000 years ago, where they were made from bambou and silk in China. In the 19th Century, kites were used for scientific experiments. And in the 20th and 21st centuries, kites were used for military purposes...

    A kite is a flying tethered man-made object. The necessary lift that makes the kite fly is generated when airflow over and under the kite creates low pressure above the kite and high pressure below it. In addition to the lift, this deflection generates horizontal drag along the direction of the wind. This drag is opposed with the tension of one or more lines held by the operator of the kite. Kites held with more than one line can be steered by pulling the different lines with different strength.

    Safety when flying kites:

    Most importantly, don't fly your kite near any overhead cables, even if they look 'safe'.
    Try to prevent children from looking up at the sun inadvertently.
    Keep an eye on children in case they try to run after the kite into a road or other danger.

    Kites during War

    In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, kites were used for lifting military observers to heights from which they could observe the disposition of enemy forces.

    During World War II (1939-1945), kites were also used as gunnery targets.

    French Military kites have long been popular with kitefliers. Their lifting power and stability make them ideal for high altitude flying.

    http://www.howtomakeandflykites.com/   Complete Guide to Kite Making and Flying

    The history of kites can be traced back thousands of years. The initial usage of kites was purely military: they were a communication tool. Different messages were communicated mainly via different colored kites during the day. At night, the message communicated was very limited in comparison to those during the day because the lanterns carried by the kite could not produce different lights. In extremely rare occasions, giant kites carrying aerial observers were also deployed in reconnaissance roles. Gradually, kites became a popular form of recreation as well as art. With the advent of gunpowder, kites were occasionally flown for bombing missions after the Yuan Dynasty, delivering explosives to targets that were out of reach of cannons and arrows, such as those on the opposite slope of a mountain.

    Today, in addition to kites that are mainly flown for recreation, art or practical use, there are power kites or traction kites. These are steerable kites designed to generate substantial excess lift and a pull that can be applied in related activities such as kite surfing, kite land-boarding or kite buggying

    Never let a kite fly in the neighbor-hood of power-lines and radio stations, especially those using mast radiators.

    TIME FOR EVERYTHING

    Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

    -Eph 5: 16

    God has given me this day to use it as I will. I can waste it - or use it for good, but what I do today is important, because I am exchanging a day of my life for it.! --Heartsill Wilson

    TO EVERYTHING there is a season, and a time for every matter or purpose under heaven:
    A time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to pluck up what is planted,
    A time to kill and a time to heal, a time to break down and a time to build up,

    A time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,
    A time to cast away stones and a time to gather stones together, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
    A time to get and a time to lose, a time to keep and a time to cast away,
    A time to rend and a time to sew, a time to keep silence and a time to speak,
    A time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.
     -
    Ecclesiastes 3

    Waste neither time nor money, but make the best use of both. --Benjamin Franklin

    We master our minutes or we become slaves to them; we use time, or time uses us. --William A. Ward

    Our days are identical suitcases - all the same size - but some people can pack more into them than others.

    Be Strong
    "Keep On Praying"
    Ephesians 6 10-11

    Finally, be strong in the Lord,
    and in the strength of His might.
    Put on the full armor of God,
    that you may be able to stand firm
    against the schemes of the devil.

    The LORD is nigh unto them  that are of a broken heart;

    and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
     Many are the afflictions
    of the righteous:

    but the LORD delivereth him  out of them all.

    -Psalm 34;18-19

    The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And they that know thy name  will put their trust in thee:

     for thou, LORD,  hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

    -Psalm 9:9-10

    Our heart goes out to the ones killed in Tornadoes in Enterprise Ala. and Americus, Ga.  The storms have killed at least 18 people and injured more than 50 in the US state of Alabama with  nine in Americus, Ga.

    My prayers and thoughts are with the families

    God is in every tomorrow,
    Therefore I live for today,
    Certain of finding at sunrise,
    Guidance and strength for my way;
    Power for each moment of weakness,
    Hope for each moment of pain,
    Comfort for every sorrow,
    Sunshine and joy after rain.
    F. B. Meyer

     The following verse help me in times of need

     What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.
    In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust;

     I will not fear Psalm 56: 3-4

    Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you:

    not as the world giveth, give I unto you.

    Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. -John 14: 27

    For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have  everlasting life

    Why I Love Him

    The Reason I Love Him -- He gave His life for me

    My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.

    The LORD hath done great things for us;

    whereof we are glad. -Psalm 126: 3

    You are the one who saved me
    you are the one who will carry me home
    you are the one who loved me
    You are the one I Love

    "In Him we have redemption through His blood,
    the forgiveness of sins, . . ."
    Ephesians 1:7

    One thing I ask of you
    is to live in your love
    sweet Jesus my Savior
    my God and faithful friend

    nothing in this world
    could ever take your place
    always in your arms

    just to live in your love
    sweet Jesus

    May God who understands each need,
    who listens to every prayer,
    bless you and keep you
    in His tender loving care.

     For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
