Christians and the Internet
The Internet can be a dangeous place for many people. I will just list a few examples; The Internet can be a place where a person can have his identity stolen. For example, I belong to Ebay where I do a majority of my shopping and use paypal to pay for my purchases. Once in a while I will get an email that my EBay or PayPal account is to be shut down unless I update my information. These emails are fraud where a person is trying to get my password and/or banking information. Luckily I was wise and contacted these companies when I first started receiving these emails. Almost everyday I receive emails stating that I have won the Lottery or somebody needs help and will pay me a huge amount of money to help. These are different varieties of the Nigerian Scam where I get nothing in return for providing personal information. Predator lurk within websites such as myspace trying to lure children away from the safety of their homes. How would Christians survive when more and more people become Internet subscribers? What if the Internet did not exist? Well, there would ne no christiansunite.com. Without the Internet Christians from around the world would not meet each other. We would not be able to share our joy, faith and communion as effectively. My daughter watches utube once in a while. Even though what she watches in acceptable I have noticed several videos that are downright offensive. As I looked in utube more closely, I did receive a nice surprise. There are many Christian related videos. I spent the day browsing the videos but there were just to many to pick one. Finally, I found one with T D Jakes and did enjoy it. I plan to go back and watch more of his videos. While the Internet can be dangerous, it can be safe if people use wisdom on which sites to use.
