HAPPY RESURRECTION SUNDAY - HE IS RISEN!

CHRIST THE LORD IS RISEN TODAY

Christ the Lord is risen today, Alleluia!

Sons of men and angels say: Alleluia!

Raise your joys and triumphs high. Alleluia!

Sing, ye heav’ns, and earth, reply. Alleluia!

Lives again our glorious King: Alleluia!

Where, O death, is now thy sting? Alleluia!

Dying once, He all doth save: Alleluia!

Where thy victory, O grave? Alleluia!

Love’s redeeming work is done. Alleluia!

Fought the fight, the battle won; Alleluia!

Death in vain forbids Him rise; Alleluia!

    Christ has opened Paradise. Alleluia!

Soar we now, where Christ has led. Alleluia!

    Following our exalted Head; Alleluia!

Made like Him, like Him we rise; Alleluia!

Ours the cross, the grave, the skies. Alleluia!

                                                         Charles Wesley

Believers be comforted by the scriptural information that Jesus died and was raised to life for our justification (Rom.4:25). He will come again (Acts 3:21). Are you ready for his glorious appearing (Tit.2:13)?

If you are not a believer, you can receive Jesus as your Savior and have the hope of spending eternity with God.

Dear friend, will you receive Jesus or will you reject him?

Perhaps the following prayer or one like it will be fitting. Remember, what is important is the faith that Jesus will save you.

Almighty God, I thank you that you sent Jesus to die on the cross for my sins. I believe that you raised him from the dead as the Bible declares. Jesus, I now receive you as my Savior and Lord. I am sorry for my sins and I turn away from them. Lord Jesus, please fulfill your plan for my life. Amen.

HAPPY RESURRECTION SUNDAY. HE IS RISEN!

    QUESTIONS FOR SKEPTICS

JESUS DIED FOR OUR SINS AND WAS RAISED TO LIFE FOR OUR JUSTIFICATION

The angel said to the women, 'Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.'Now I have told you' (Matt.28:5-7).

                           QUESTIONS FOR SKEPTICS

    1) Why did the majority of Jesus' disciples suffer martyrdom if they were not certain that he rose from the dead and ascended into heaven (Acts 1: 1-8)?

    2) Why did Saul of Tarsus, a Pharisee, a Rabbi ,a scholar, an expert in the Old Testament Law, a blasphemer and a persecutor of Christians become the best known witness of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the most prolific author of New Testament books, if he was not absolutely certain that the vision he had on his way to Damascus was from the risen Christ who had ascended into heaven (Acts 22: 1-21)?

    3) If Jesus did not rise from the dead and if he did not possess a spiritual body, how was he able to appear to his disciples and to disappear from their presence (Mark 16: 9, 14; Luke 24: 36-39; John 20: 24-29; John 21: 1-14).

    4) If Jesus did not rise from the dead and if he did not receive a spiritual body, how was he able to defy the law of gravity by ascending into heaven (Luke 24: 50-53: Acts 1:9-11)?

Believers be comforted by the scriptural information that Jesus died and was raised to life. He will come again. Are you ready for his glorious appearing?

If you are not a believer, you can receive Jesus as your Savior and have the hope of spending eternity with God.

JESUS WILL COME AGAIN AT THE END OF THE AGE

JESUS WILL COME AT THE END OF THE AGE. AT THAT TIME, HE WILL JUDGE THE LIVING AND THE DEAD (2 Tim.4:1).

The apostle Paul wrote, And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins (1 Cor.15:17).

The Scriptures inform us that Jesus rose from the dead, ascended into heaven and he will come again to judge the living and the dead.

Lo, He comes with clouds descending, Once for favoured

sinners slain; Thousand thousand saints attending

Swell the triumph of His train: Alleluia,

alleluia! God appears on earth to reign.

Ev'ry eye shall now behold Him, Robed in splendour's

majesty; Those who set at naught and sold Him,

Pierced and nailed Him to the tree, Deeply wailing,

deeply wailing, Shall the true Messiah see.

Now the Saviour, long expected, See, in solemn

pomp appear; All who have not Him rejected

Now shall meet Him in the air: Alleluia,

alleluia! See the day of God appear.

Yea, amen, let all adore Thee, high on Thine e-

ternal throne; Saviour take the power and glory,

Claim the kingdom for Thine own: Oh, come quickly,

oh, come quickly! Everlasting God, come down.

    -         Charles Wesley

    PART 6

    6) THE TESTIMONY OF THE SCRIPTURES (PROPHECY)

    a) He (JESUS) must remain in heaven until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets (Acts 3:21).

    b) Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, ... Don't let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness (the Antichrist) is revealed, the man doomed to destruction (2 Thess.2:1-3).

    c) When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory (Col.3:4).

    d) But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body (Phil.3:20-21).

    e) God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the Gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you (2 Thess. 1:6-10).

    f) I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. ... On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS (Rev.19: 11-13, 16).

    g) The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said: The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign for ever and ever (Rev.11:15).

Believers be comforted by the scriptural information that Jesus died and was raised to life. He will come again. Are you ready for his glorious appearing?

If you are not a believer, you can receive Jesus as your Savior and have the hope of spending eternity with God.

Did e’er such love and sorrow meet

Or thorns compose so rich a crown?

We have a number of proofs that show beyond a reasonable doubt that Jesus rose from the dead and ascended into heaven.

    PART 5

    5) THE TESTIMONY OF THE COMING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor (the Holy Spirit) will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you (John 16:7).

When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them (Acts 2:1-4).

Believers be comforted by the scriptural information that Jesus died and was raised to life. He will come again. Are you ready for his glorious appearing?

    4) THE TESTIMONY OF THE ASCENSION

When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and blessed them. While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven. Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. And they stayed continually at the temple, praising God (Luke 24:50-53).

After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. Men of Galilee, they said, why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven (Acts 1:9-11).

JESUS DIED FOR OUR SINS AND HE WAS RAISED TO LIFE FOR OUR JUSTIFICATION (Rom.4:25).

We have a number of proofs that show beyond a reasonable doubt that Jesus rose from the dead and ascended into heaven.

    PART 3

            3) THE TESTIMONY OF POSTRESURRECTION APPEARANCES

So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. Greetings, he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me (Matt. 28:8-10).

When Jesus rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had driven seven demons. ... Later Jesus appeared to the Eleven as they were eating; he rebuked them for their lack of faith and their stubborn refusal to believe those who had seen him after he had risen (Mark 16:9, 14).

While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, Peace be with you. They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. He said to them, Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have (Luke 24:36-39).

Afterwards Jesus appeared again to his disciples, by the Sea of Tiberias. ... Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus. He called out to them, Friends, haven't you any fish? No, they answered. He said, Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some. When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish. Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, It is the Lord. As soon as Simon Peter heard him say, It is the Lord, he wrapped his outer garment around him (for he had taken it off) and jumped into the water. ... When they landed, they saw a fire of burning coals there with fish on it, and some bread. Jesus said to them, Bring some of the fish you have just caught. ... Jesus said to them, Come and have breakfast. None of the disciples dared ask him, Who are you? They knew it was the Lord. Jesus came , took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish. This was now the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after he was raised from the dead (John 21:1-14).

Believers be comforted by the scriptural information that Jesus died and was raised to life. He will come again. Are you ready for his glorious appearing?

If you are not a believer, you can receive Jesus as your Savior and have the hope of spending eternity with God.

We have a number of proofs that show beyond a reasonable doubt that Jesus rose from the dead and ascended into heaven.

    PART 2

    2) THE TESTIMONY OF THE HEAVENLY VISITORS

There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. ... The angel said to the women, Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.Come and see the place where he lay (Matt.28: 2, 5-6).

When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus' body. ... But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. Don't be alarmed, he said. You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him (Mark 16: 1, 4-6).

On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood before them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again. Then they remembered his words (Luke 24:1-8).

Believers be comforted by the scriptural information that Jesus died and was raised to life. He will come again. Are you ready for his glorious appearing?

HAPPY EASTER and GOD'S RICHEST BLESSINGS

JESUS DIED FOR OUR SINS AND HE WAS RAISED TO LIFE FOR OUR JUSTIFICATION (Rom.4:25).

    __________________________

The apostle Paul wrote, And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins (1 Cor.15:17).

We have a number of proofs that show beyond a reasonable doubt that Jesus rose from the dead and ascended into heaven.

    PART 1

    1) THE TESTIMONY OF THE EMPTY TOMB AND THE GRAVECLOTHES

The four gospel writers recorded that the body of Jesus was prepared for burial. He was placed in a new tomb belonging to Joseph of Arimathea. A guard (a number of soldiers) was placed and the stone was sealed to prevent the body from being stolen (Matt.27:57-66; Mark 15:42-47; Luke 23:50-56; John 19:38-42).

The gospel of John gives an eyewitness account of what both Peter and himself saw when they went to the tomb on the first day of the week. We read: So Peter and the other disciple started for the tomb. Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in. Then Simon Peter, who was behind him, arrived and went into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there, as well as the burial cloth that had been around Jesus' head. The cloth was folded up by itself, separate from the linen. Finally the other disciple, who had reached he tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed. (They still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead) (John 20:3-9).

What did the other disciple (John) see? He saw the strips of linen and the headcloth. What did he believe?  The apostle John believed that Jesus was risen from the dead.  The Holy Spirit had injected divine life into the lifeless body of our Lord and spontaneously disrobed the body of its graveclothes and clothed it with a royal garment woven by the very hands of God.

When some of the guards went to the chief priests and reportd what had happened, the chief priests went to the elders and contrived a plan. They paid a large sum of money to the soldiers and told them what to say. You are to say, His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep. If this report gets to the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble. So the soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story has been widely circulated among the Jews to this very day (Matt. 28:13-15).

The eyewitness account of the apostle John concerning the left behind graveclothes shattered the fabrication  of the chief priests and the elders that the body of Jesus was stolen by his disciples.

If the body of Jesus was stolen by his disciples, then Peter and John, two of the inner circle disciples, would have known and they would not have gone to the tomb on the first day of the week.

Peter and John were fully convinced that Jesus was risen from the dead by the evidence in the tomb.

Believers be comforted by the scriptural information that Jesus died and was raised to life. He will come again. Are you ready for his glorious appearing?

If you are not a believer, you can receive Jesus as your Savior and have the hope of spending eternity with God.

Dear friend, will you receive Jesus or will you reject him?

Perhaps the following prayer or one like it will be fitting. Remember, what is important is the faith that Jesus will save you.

BIBLE STUDY - KNOW YOUR BIBLE

WHO IS JESUS? HAVE YOU RECEIVED HIM?

Born again believers acknowlege that Jesus is God (a distinct person of the Trinity).

Jehovah Witnesses teach that Jesus is the son of God but they reject the scriptural truth that Jesus is God. They teach that Jesus was created. (They use Chapter 8 of the Book of Proverbs Wisdom's Appeal to do so). They claim that Jesus is a god.

Those who practice Islam teach that JESUS was born of a virgin, he was a prophet but they do not see Jesus as God (see Heb. 1:1-13).

Those who practice Judaism do not accept Jesus as their Messiah. They are still waiting for their Messiah (see Isa. 9:6).

    _________________

    1) Jesus is called the Son of God (Luke 1:31,35). Jesus is called God the One and Only in the following Scripture. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father's side, has made him known (John 1:17-18).

    2) The Word is God and Jesus is the Word. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ... The Word became flesh and lived for a while among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth (John 1:1,14).

    3) The son is called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace (Isa. 9:6).

    4) God the Father calls the Son - God. Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom (Heb. 1:8).

    5) God the Father calls the Son - Lord. In the beginning, O Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands (Heb. 1:10).

    6) The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel (Isa. 7:14). Immanuel means God with us (Matt. 1:23).

    7) For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him (Jesus) (Col. 1:19).

    8) God is called the first and the last in the Old Testament. This is what the Lord says - ... I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God (Isa. 44:6). Jesus is called the First and the Last in the New Testament. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End (Rev. 22:13).

    9) God is eternal. Your throne was established long ago; you are from all eternity (Psalm 93:2). Jesus is eternal. But you Bethlehem ... out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times (from days of eternity) (Micah 5:2).

    10) God laid the earth's foundation in the Old Testament. Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation? Tell me if you understand (Job 38:4). Jesus laid the earth's foundation in the New Testament. But about the Son he says ... In the beginning, O Lord, you laid the foundation of the earth and the heavens are the work of your hands (Heb. 1: 8-10).

    11) God is called Savior in the Old Testament. But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me (Micah 7:7). Jesus will bring salvation in the New Testament. Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him (Heb. 9:27-28).

    12) God will be the judge in the Old Testament. O God comes and will not be silent; a fire devours before him, and around him a tempest rages. He summons the heavens above, and the earth, that he may judge his people (Psalm 50:3-4). Jesus will be the judge in the New Testament. In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom (2 Tim. 4:1). ... 1:7-10).

    13) The Lord brings his rewards in the Old Testament. The Lord has made proclamation to the ends of the earth: Say to the Daughter of Zion, See, your Savior comes! See, his reward is with him, and his recompense accompanies him (Isa. 62:11). Jesus brings his reward with him in the New Testament. Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done (Rev. 22:12).

    14) Jesus will raise the dead at the last day. Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and come out - those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned (John 5:28-29).

    15) Jesus will transform the bodies of living believers when he appears. But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body (Phil. 3:20-21).

    16)  Jesus will reign for ever and ever. The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign for ever and ever (Rev. 11:15).

    17) Jesus is the giver of eternal life. My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand (John 10:27-28).

We read in the Gospel of John, Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God – children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God (John 1:12-13). Please read John 3:3.

Only those whose sins are forgiven through the shed blood of Jesus Christ will spend eternity with God. Will you receive HIM?

BIBLE STUDY - KNOW YOUR BIBLE

How did God demonstrate his power in the lives of Abraham and Sarah? Has God demonstrated his power in your life?

God promised Abraham that he would make him into a great nation (Gen. 12: 1). God made that promise when Abraham was seventy-five years old. Sarah his wife was barren (Gen. 16: 1). When Abraham was ninety-nine years old, God said that he would give him a son by his wife, Sarah (Gen. 17: 16).

When Abraham was one hundred years old and Sarah was ninety years old their son, Isaac, was born (Gen. 21: 1-3).

Let us read what the author of the Book of Hebrews wrote about Abraham and Sarah. By faith Abraham, even though he was past age - and Sarah herself was barren - was enabled to become a father because he considered him faithful who had made the promise. And so from this one man, and he as good as dead, came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore (Heb.11: 11).

Please remember that God loves you. If you have a need, God can meet that need. Please seek him with all your heart, perhaps a miracle is waiting to take place in your life.

What is the origin of languages?

We are informed in Genesis, chapter 11, that the whole world had one language and a common speech (v.1). As people migrated to the east, they settled in Shinar. Shinar was in Babylonia. There were a number of cities, one being Babel.

They planned to build a city with a tower of great height. In the words of the Bible, the tower would reach the heavens (v.4). Their purpose was to make a name for themselves so that they would not be scattered over the entire earth.

But God intervened. We read, But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower that the men were building (v.5). The Lord reasoned that if he allowed them to complete their project then nothing that they planned would be impossible for them to accomplish. As a result, God confused their language and the people were scattered over the whole earth speaking different languages (v.8).

What is the significance of the rainbow?

The rainbow is the sign of a covenant that God made with Noah and all the living creatures that came out of the ark after the flood (Genesis 9).

God was grieved that he had made man because of his wickedness.  As a result, God destroyed all living things, man and beast, (Genesis 6) except Noah and his family and the animals that God had directed into the ark (Genesis 7).

When the flood waters receded, God established a covenant with Noah, his descendants and with all living creatures.

We read: And God said, ‘This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth’ (Gen.9:12-16, NIV).

Why is Abram called the Hebrew in Genesis 14: 13?

We read: One who had escaped came and reported this to Abram the Hebrew  (Genesis 14:13).

Abram whose name was later changed by God to Abraham was born in Ur of the Chaldees. Ur of the Chaldees was located in southern Mesopotamia, about 140 miles SE of the site of old Babylon.

From Ur of the Chaldees, Abram migrated with his father and other relatives to Haran. From Haran Abram traveled to the land of Canaan. Abram went from Canaan to Egypt because of a famine. Abram left Egypt and went to the Negev. From the Negev, Abram went from place to place until he arrived at Bethel. When he and Lot parted company, Abram settled in Hebron, located  19 miles SW of Jerusalem.

Abram was the father of the Hebrew people. Hebrew is the language of the Old Testament with the following exceptions that were written in Aramaic: Ezra 4: 8 – 6: 18; 7: 12 –26; Daniel 2: 4 - 7: 28 and Jeremiah 10: 11.

Why was he called a Hebrew? There are two possible answers. It could be because he crossed over the Euphrates (Hebrew comes from a Hebrew root (word) meaning “ to cross over” or it could mean that he crossed from place to place (a wanderer).

ARE YOU A FRIEND OF GOD?

Abraham was called a friend of God (2 Chron.20:7). Why? Because when God called him he believed God (Gal.3:6). We read: By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God (Heb.11:8-10).

It must be borne in mind that Abram (Abraham) grew up in a household in which idols were worshiped. His foreparents were idol worshippers. God’s call must have impacted him greatly.

Do you know that as born again believers we could be called friends of God,  friends of Jesus?  He said to his disciples, You are my friends if you do what I command (John 15:14).

Jesus is the best friend anyone could have (John 3:16; Rom.4:25). He is now interceding for us at the right hand of God (Rom.8:34). Jesus said that we should love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength and our neighbors as we love ourselves.

    We read about JESUS.

    I’ve found a Friend, O such a Friend!

    He loved me ere I knew Him;

He drew me with the cords of love,

And thus He bound me to Him.
