    Rewards

    The word of the day is:

    Rewards

    Luke 12:42-44

    42The Lord answered, "Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the master puts in charge of his servants to give them their food allowance at the proper time? 43It will be good for that servant whom the master finds doing so when he returns. 44I tell you the truth, he will put him in charge of all his possessions.

       Jesus promises a reward to those who have been faithful to the master. While we sometimes get to experience material and immediate rewards for obeying God, it doesn’t always happen that way. If we receive rewards every single time, we would end up boastful and only do the good for what we are going to get. Jesus states that if we look for the rewards now, we will lose them later. Our heavenly rewards will be the most accurate reflection of what we did here on earth. They will be better than anything that we can imagine.

    Challenge;

       Ever find yourself playing a game with your family just to win? You sit at the table playing a board game with your family and cannot wait till the end of the game when you get that great reward of saying, “I’m the best.” or “I’m the greatest!”  How about thinking it through and playing a game with your family just to spend time with them. How often do we see rewards of pride and arrogance? How often do we look for the reward of investing in the kingdom of God by spending time with family, or helping a brother out, or even loving an enemy? Don’t look for the rewards here on earth, just obey God’s will and live by His truth and you shall be rewarded when and where it counts!

    Insults

    The word of the day is:

    Insults

    Proverbs 12:16

    [16] A fool shows his annoyance at once,
           but a prudent man overlooks an insult.

       When someone insults you, it is natural to feel you need to retaliate or insult the person back. This doesn’t solve anything and invites trouble into your life. Your answer should be slowly and quietly. A positive answer should achieve positive results.

    Challenge;

       When someone insults you, don’t fire back. Think about how you can respond to them in a way it might take them out of whatever funk they happen to be in. You never know that these people that throw insults around actually might be crying out for help in their own lives or they might be trying to get attention. Negative attention is better than no attention at all. Change that negative to the positive. Watch what happens when you don’t feed the insult.

    Singing

    The word of the day is:

    Singing

    Exodus 15:20

       [20] Then Miriam the prophetess, Aaron's sister, took a tambourine in her hand, and all the women followed her, with tambourines and dancing.

       Miriam was called a prophetess because she not only received revelations from God but also for her musical skill. Prophecy and music were often closely related in the Bible, mainly in the old testament.

    Challenge;

       While not all of us have the talent to perform musical talents, playing instruments, singing, dancing, remember that there are many ways to worship. Give yourself the joy of just letting yourself go in worship. If you want to raise your hands to the Lord, raise them! If you want to sing, sing it loud! If you want to sit quietly, sit quietly in reverence to the Lord. Just remember that it is my belief that we all have our own path with the Lord and our own walk. We all worship differently and don’t think you are wrong for the way you worship unless you’re being disruptive to everyone else’s worship time around you.

    Singing today with you,

       Brent

    Coincidence

    The word of the day is:

    Coincidence

    Ruth 2:20

       [20] "The LORD bless him!" Naomi said to her daughter-in-law. "He has not stopped showing his kindness to the living and the dead." She added, "That man is our close relative; he is one of our kinsman-redeemers."

       Though Ruth didn’t always recognize God’s guidance in her life, He was with her every step of the way. She went to glean and just by chance ended up in Boaz’s field who happened to be a relative? This was no coincidence! As we all go about our daily lives, do we not realize that He is with us every step of the way? God is working in all of our lives, even if we don’t notice. Never close the door on what God can do. Events do not occur be luck, coincidence or happenstance.  We should all have the faith that God is working in our lives for His purpose.

    Challenge;

       Remember that God is working in our lives for some reason. For His purposes, not our own, we come across certain areas, or situations, that may be because He wants to move us or wants us to move. As Christians, or children of God, we need to stop right now. Today we need to quit our worldly beliefs that there are such things as coincidence. Take that word out of our vocabulary and lives.

    Salt

    The word of the day is:

    Salt

    Mark 9:50

    [50] “Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with each other.”

       Jesus uses salt to illustrate three qualities that should be present in His people. The first is; we should remember God’s faithfulness, just as salt when used with a sacrifice recalled God’s covenant with His people. Second; we should make a difference in the flavor of the world we live in, just as salt changes meat’s flavor. Third is; we should counteract the moral decay in society, just as salt preserves food from decay. When we lose the desire to salt the earth with love and message of God, we become useless to Him.

    Challenge;

       For those who are involved within your church, if you see or feel you have lost your flavor, get into another ministry.  God may be moving you in a different direction. Try different things, such as just reading the Bible. The point is, if something isn’t working, find a different way to flavor the earth.

       For those who aren’t to active yet, I challenge you to step out and get involved in some way. Bible study, small group, ministries at church, sharing your faith with others, committing to God to live out the life He wants you to live. Salt that earth!

    Burdens

    The word of the day is:

    Burdens

    Exodus 1:12

    12 But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and spread; so the Egyptians came to dread the Israelites

       The Egyptians tried to wear out the Hebrew people by making them slaves and mistreating them. The Hebrews grew stronger and multiplied. When we feel the weight of our burdens or are mistreated, we just might feel defeated. If we let it, our burdens can make us stronger and develop qualities in us to prepare us for the future. We cannot be overcomers unless there are troubles and trials to overcome. Being true to God, even in the very worst of times, can make us better people in life.

    Challenge;

       Anybody going through rough times right now? Imagine what the Hebrews went through and think about this; what are we going through right now that can make our lives as bad as being a Hebrew in Egypt around 1450 BC? Do we have masters that come up and knock us around or physically beat us because we looked at them the wrong way? We need to remember the blessings God bestows on all of us if we choose to give our burdens to Him. He makes them so much lighter! Our burdens can be in many forms including; addictions, bad behaviors, unforgiveness, pride, greed, gluttony, and lust. This list could include many things. Fill in the blank and give it to the one whose shoulders are big enough to bear it.

    Visions

    The word of the day is:

    Visions

    Matthew 2:13

    13When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. "Get up," he said, "take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him."

       This was the second dream or vision that Joseph had received from God. Joseph’s first dream told him that Mary would bring the Messiah into the world. Now he is shown how to save the child’s life. Although Joseph was not the boy’s natural father, he was responsible for his well being and safety. It was his legal right. Devine guidance comes only to prepared hearts. Joseph remained receptive to God’s guidance.

    Challenge;

       Are you ready for God to give you a vision? More than visions, I think what we are being told is to be obedient to God and then we will see the blessings He bestows upon us. How many of us are ready?

    Temptation

    The word of the day is:

    Temptation

    Jeremiah 2:2

    2 "Go and proclaim in the hearing of Jerusalem:
           " 'I remember the devotion of your youth,
           how as a bride you loved me
           and followed me through the desert,
           through a land not sown.

       We all appreciate a friend who remains true to his or her commitment, and we are disappointed when someone fails to keep a promise. God was pleased when his people obeyed at first, but then they refused to keep their commitment to Him and He became angry with them. Temptations distract us from God.

    Challenge;

       Remember your original commitment to obey God and get rid of temptation in your life. Are you truly devoted to God? Is there something else bigger in your life tempting you away from God? Take time today and see where you stand in your commitment with God and get rid of the stuff that makes your relationship with Him seem superficial.

    Discredit

    The word of the day is:

    Discredit

    Acts 21:28-29

    28shouting, "Men of Israel, help us! This is the man who teaches all men everywhere against our people and our law and this place. And besides, he has brought Greeks into the temple area and defiled this holy place." 29(They had previously seen Trophimus the Ephesian in the city with Paul and assumed that Paul had brought him into the temple area.)

       The Jews knew how effective Paul’s work had been in Asia. Their strategy was to discredit Paul so that his work would be weakened. Be alert when you hear of accusations to discredit God’s workers. Someone may be trying to discredit them or to hinder their work, to destroy whatever good they have done. Keep an open mind and pray for their support, they will be strengthened by your support.

    Challenge;

       This is also a tough one. I can actually give you an account of where I struggled once. How many know about creation versus evolutionism? I was not totally aware of this subject until about two years ago. Creation Science Evangelism is a ministry brought about by Dr. Kent Hovind. This person fought the theory of evolution in the schools. He was a teacher and knew a lot about the teachings of the dinosaurs. His 8 disc seminar that I had the privilege to see scared me at first. Everything I was taught in the schools was a lie? This shook my foundation and I was on the verge of calling this ministry a whacked out crazy, is it really Christian or not, type of deal.

       Needless to say, the underworld powers that be, got together and conspired (speculation) to get rid of this guy telling museums that they were all wrong about evolution and that the world is only about 6,000 years old not billions and billions. They got him for tax evasion and he is still jailed to this day. His ministry lives on but whomever it was tried to discredit his work and the teachings of the Bible. Interesting huh, sound familiar? Contact me for the website on his ministry which is still running strong.

    Dignity

    The word of the day is:

    Dignity

    Leviticus 26:13

       [13] I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt so that you would no longer be slaves to the Egyptians; I broke the bars of your yoke and enabled you to walk with heads held high.

       Try to imagine being a slave and being set free. Can you feel the joy they must feel? God took His people out of slavery and gave them freedom and dignity. We are also set free when we accept Christ’s payment that redeems us from sin and slavery. We do not need to be weighed down by our past sins; we can walk with dignity because God has forgiven us and forgotten them. Just as the Israelites were in danger of returning to a slave mentality, we also must be aware of the temptation to return to our sinful ways.

    Challenge;

       Today, look in the mirror and see a person that has been forgiven. Not by your parent, spouse, child or neighbor, but by God himself! Do you see a person that can hold their head high, or a person still wallowing in the muck and mire? Remember your dignity of whose you are and have a blessed day!

    Blame

    The word of the day is:

    Blame

    Job 5:8

       [8] “But if it were I, I would appeal to God;

                 I would lay my cause before him.”

       Job had suffered greatly and all three of his friends made the mistake of assuming that Job had committed some great sin to deserve the suffering he was enduring. None of Job’s friends or even he himself knew the conversation that was going on between God and Satan. It is built into us the nature to blame others for their downfall or troubles, but this story of Job illustrates that we cannot always blame the person for their own troubles.

    Challenge;

       Have you ever blamed someone for their own troubles? We need to understand that there could have been other circumstances that could have gotten them there. It is not fair to automatically assume that someone’s problem was brought on because of something they did or didn’t do. What if we crashed a new car that we bought? Did we do some horrific sin to be punished by God by Him wrecking our new car? It could be but the magic question is; who are we to judge?

    Crowds

    The word of the day is:

    Crowds

    Matthew 27:21

       [21] “Which of the two do you want me to release to you?” asked the governor.

    “Barabbas,” they answered.

       Crowds are fickle. They can turn on you in a moment’s notice. They loved Jesus Sunday because they thought he was going to inaugurate his kingdom. Then they hated him on Friday because his power had appeared to be broken. In the midst of the uprising crowd, Jesus’ friends were frightened to speak up on his behalf.

    Challenge;

       When was the last time you were the only believer in a group of people that were bashing the Bible, Jesus, or the Lord God Almighty? How did you react to the “crowd?” Did you go along with them or did you stand in your faith at the expense of being ridiculed? We need to let those know around us that we have the integrity to withstand the pressure of a fickle crowd.  Maybe someone will stand up and take note to not be so fickle anymore.

    Lust

    The word of the day is:

    Lust

    Judges 16:15

    15 Then she said to him, "How can you say, 'I love you,' when you won't confide in me? This is the third time you have made a fool of me and haven't told me the secret of your great strength."

       Samson was deceived by Delilah’s lies because he wanted to believe her. Even though he could kill a lion with his bare hands, he could not extinguish his burning lust or even see through the lies of Delilah. How can you keep your desires for love and sexual pleasures from deceiving you?

    1.    You must make a decision on what kind of person you will love before the passion takes over. Determine to make their inward appearance just as important, if not more as the outward appearance.

    2.     Because the most of your time spent with your spouse is not involving sex, your partner’s personality, temperament and commitment to solve problems must be just as good as their kisses.

    3.     Be patient. the second look often reveals the inward beauty beneath all the pleasantries and attentive touch.

    Challenge;

       Try to combat lust because there are several places in the Bible that state that even looking at a woman with lust in your eyes is just like committing adultery and that it would be better to gouge out your eyes than live in hell for the rest of your days. Try to see where you’re at with this and if you need help, seek out that help before it is too late.

    Lamb

    The word of the day is:

    Lamb

    Revelations 5:5-6

    5Then one of the elders said to me, "Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals."

     6Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing in the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. He had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth.

       Jesus Christ is pictured as a Lion and a Lamb. The Lion part is symbolizing His authority and power, while the Lamb symbolizes His submission to God’s will. One of the elders calls John to look at the Lion but all he sees is a Lamb. Christ the Lamb was the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all mankind; therefore He can only save us from the terrible events revealed by the scroll. Christ the Lamb also won the greatest battle of all. He defeated all the evil forces when He died on that cross. The role of Christ the Lion will be to lead the battle when Satan is finally defeated. Christ the Lion is victorious because of what Christ the Lamb has already done.

    Challenge;

       When will we realize that all the macho, rough, tough, strong men are not always the best cure for anything? When evil is to be defeated, don’t think that matching the violence and mayhem is going to help the cause. We need to realize who it is that fights for us and who is fighting against us. We need to submit to Christ and follow His ways, rather than our own. “Only the strong survive.” That saying is so utterly ridiculous because we know that the Lamb is stronger than anything in this world. Reflect on what exactly that says to you and ask God to reveal it.

    Underdog

    The word of the day is:

    Underdog

    Judges 7:13

       {13} Gideon arrived just as a man was telling a friend his dream. “I had a dream,” he was saying. “A round loaf of barley bread came tumbling into the Midianite camp. It struck the tent with such force that the tent overturned and collapsed.”

        An enemy soldier dreamed of a loaf of bread tumbling into camp? It was barley bread and barley was only half the value of wheat, so the bread was considered inferior. In the same way, Israel’s small band of men was considered inferior to vast amount of troops from Midian and Amalek.  But God had a plan, He would see that the underdogs would look invincible.

    Challenge;

       How many believers work at your work place? How many in the store you frequent? Do you ever find yourself feeling like you were an underdog and out manned? Remember that while you may be the underdog in several areas of life, God has His perfect plan for His “underdog” believers. He is always victorious. It’s up to us, through making the right choices, to be those underdogs that will rise with God’s victory.

    Frustration (2)

    The word of the day is:

    Frustration (2)

    Ezra 5:3-5

       3 At that time Tattenai, governor of Trans-Euphrates, and Shethar-Bozenai and their associates went to them and asked, "Who authorized you to rebuild this temple and restore this structure?" 4 They also asked, "What are the names of the men constructing this building?" 5 But the eye of their God was watching over the elders of the Jews, and they were not stopped until a report could go to Darius and his written reply be received.

       The non-Jews that lived in the vicinity tried to delay the building of the temple. But while all the legal issues were in debate, the Jews continued to rebuild. When we are doing God’s work or other tasks for God, others may try to delay, confuse or frustrate us, but we can carry on confidently. God will accomplish His purposes in our world, no matter who attempts to block them. Just as He watched over the Jews in the rebuilding process, He watches over you. Concentrate on God’s task for you and don’t let yourself be frustrated or sidetracked by slander, or intrigue.

    Challenge;

       Sometimes in our times of frustration, we forget that there is God standing behind us watching. Remember that He is there to see His purposes through. Whether He uses you or someone else, His task will be accomplished. When we get frustrated for doing God’s work, remember it will be done in His time and in His way. Are you going to be that person to shine through the frustration, or the one who gives in and quits.

    Giving

    The word of the day is:

    Giving

    Matthew 19:29

       29And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life.

       Jesus assured the disciples that anyone who gives up something valuable for his sake will be repaid many times over in this life, although maybe not in the same way. For example we may end up being rejected from our own families for being a Christ follower but we in turn end up with a bigger family in the church of Christ.

    Challenge;

       Whenever feeling persecuted by people way into the world and worldly things, remember that you, as a Christ follower, have a huge family that will support you and lift you up. Don’t let the creep put crazy ideas, or lies, into your head. You are somebody, you do matter, you have a bigger family, and your Father is bigger than anyone’s! Keep the faith no matter what and keep giving the Lord your best to expand on His kingdom.

    Goals

    The word of the day is:

    Goals

    Psalm 97:10

       [10] Let those who love the Lord hate evil,

          for he guards the lives of his faithful ones

          and delivers them from the hand of the wicked

       A sincere desire to please God will align your desires with His. You will love what He loves and hate what He hates. If you love God you will hate evil. If you don’t despise the actions of someone taking advantage of others or if you admire who look out only for themselves or if you envy those you get ahead in life using any means necessary, than you are only pleasing your own desires and not God’s. Learn to love God’s ways and hate evil in every form including the “acceptable” ones.

    Challenge;

       I guess it’s that time to align God’s desires with our own. Where do we stand with God? Do we hate evil sinful desires of man or do we let some of it slip by?

       It was just a little lust.

       I wasn’t that greedy.

       I didn’t yell at them that loud.

       With the exception of a little vulgarity I thought the movie was great!

    Do we compromise our positions to fit in with the world or do we stand for what God says is right?

    Trinity

    The word of the day is:

       Trinity

    Acts 1:4-5

    4On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. 5For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit."

       The trinity is the description of the unique relationship of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. If Jesus was to remain on earth with us, he would not be able to be in more than one place at a time. This would have limited the spread of the gospel. As it is, when Jesus was taken up into heaven, He was able to be everywhere through the Holy Spirit. Likewise the Holy Spirit allows God to be able to be with and within His followers after Jesus ascended. The Spirit reminds us of Jesus’ words and teachings and gives us the right words to say and fill us with His power.

    Challenge;

       Try to wrap our feeble minds around this concept of the trinity. It will be revealed to us in increments that He will allow. Are you aware, as Christ followers that the Holy Spirit is inside you? Have you ever thought to yourself, “Where did I come up with that?” Well it wasn’t you was it?

    Maturity

    The word of the day is:

    Maturity

    Hebrews 6:1-2

       1Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God, 2instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment.

       Basic elementary teachings are essential for all believers to understand and those basics include the importance of faith, of thinking you can be saved by good deeds, the meaning of baptism and spiritual gifts, and the facts of the resurrection and eternal life. To mature in our understanding, we need to expand, or move beyond these elemental teachings without leaving them. Mature Christians should be teaching new Christians these elemental teachings. As we go through our maturity and act on what we know, we will learn even more from God’s Word.

    Challenge;

       Once you know the basics, it is your honor, privilege, and duty to raise someone up in their maturity. We must be grateful for the knowledge that God gives us and pass it on. It is not ours to keep but ours to share. Share your knowledge with a “baby” Christian and help them grow and God will give you the wisdom if you will let Him.

    Meals

    The word of the day is:

    Meals

    Genesis 43:32

       [32] They served him by himself, the brothers by themselves, and the Egyptians who ate with him by themselves, because Egyptians could not eat with Hebrews, for that was detestable to Egyptians.

       Joseph ate by himself because he followed the laws of the Egyptians. The Egyptians considered themselves highly intelligent and totally sophisticated. They believed that the shepherds and nomads were uncultured and this made them seem even vulgar. As a Hebrew, Joseph could not eat with the Egyptians even though he outranked them. As foreigners and shepherds, his brothers were to eat by themselves also. This was their culture and Joseph honored it.

    Challenge;

       When have you segregated yourselves from other people?  Do you sit by the same people at church? What about the newcomers into any group, are they welcomed with open arms? Let’s all take a good look at how we react to one another. It doesn’t have to be just meals does it? Make the meal a feast for everyone. Isn’t that what Jesus teaches us? Again, this isn’t just about meals but a metaphor. I know there are people that can even be annoying and everyone tries to avoid them, but give them a chance, God gives each and every one of us chances each and every day.

    Dissatisfaction

    The word of the day is:

    Dissatisfaction

    Numbers 11:4-6

    4 The rabble with them began to crave other food, and again the Israelites started wailing and said, "If only we had meat to eat! 5 We remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no cost—also the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions and garlic. 6 But now we have lost our appetite; we never see anything but this manna!"

       Our dissatisfaction comes when our attention focuses on what we don’t have then on what we do. The Israelites were not realizing what God had done for them. He made them a nation and set them free, He gave them new land and even food at times. These ungrateful children could only think of the delicious food they left behind in Egypt. They wanted food and shelter so bad that they wanted to go back into slavery to get it, all because of their dissatisfaction.

       Before we judge the Israelites too harshly on this subject, think about what occupies our attention most of the time. Are we grateful for what God has given us, or do we find ourselves wanting? Wanting what others have, wanting what we don’t have. We should not allow our desires and wants to cause us to forget the things God has given us. The gifts of life, family, friends, work, health, and food.

    Challenge;

       Do we recognize what God has given us? Do we wish we had something someone else possesses? Today, look at everything in your life God has given to you. Praise Him for the things that He gives you to steward. Turn your dissatisfaction over to appreciation.

    Skills

    The word of the day is:

    Skills

    Exodus 28:3

       Tell all the skilled men to whom I have given wisdom in such matters that they are to make garments for Aaron, for his consecration, so he may serve me as priest.

       The tailors were given wisdom by God to make Aaron’s garments, their special task at hand. We are all given special skills. God wants to fill us with the Holy Spirit so that we will use our special skills for His glory. A talent, skill or gift must be used to further God’s kingdom, otherwise it will diminish.

    Challenge;

       Think about your God given skills and abilities and commit yourselves to use them to do God’s work in the world. Don’t let your skills diminish. Take a break to recharge your batteries once in a while but remember to use these skills to further God’s kingdom.

    Plan

    The word of the day is:

    Plans

    Romans 1:26-27

       26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

       God’s plan for natural sexual relationships is His ideal for His creation. Unfortunately, sin distorts the natural use of God’s gifts. Sin often means not only denying God, but also denying the way God has made us. When people think that any act of sex is acceptable as long as nobody gets hurt, they are only fooling themselves. In other words, sin hurts people; individuals, families, and whole societies. It’s pretty sad that people worship the things God made instead of the Creator which is God himself! So often do we distort and destroy the very things God has made for us, especially the gifts.

    Challenge;

       This is a tough subject! The whole point is we as humans have a tendency to water down or change altogether the way God has made us. He has made us in His image to have a relationship with Him. The challenge is that we need to look at ourselves and the things we do and ask a series of questions:

    ·         Are we worshiping the God our Creator, or worshiping what He has made?

    ·         Do we completely know what God’s plans are for us?

    ·         Have we earnestly searched for help in areas we need to change to get right with God?

    ·         How much secret sin do we live with on a daily basis and how do we work towards getting rid of it?

       There could be much more questions we could include here but the point I think is to really search yourselves for immorality in your life, or any sin, and seek to get rid of it. It won’t happen overnight and you should have a manual that will tell you what to do. It’s called the Bible, and today would be a great day to start reading it. Even if you study the Bible, read Scripture, or even daily devotionals, it’s time to just read it.

    Birthright

    The word of the day is:

    Birthright

    Genesis 27:33-37

    33 Isaac trembled violently and said, "Who was it, then, that hunted game and brought it to me? I ate it just before you came and I blessed him—and indeed he will be blessed!"

     34 When Esau heard his father's words, he burst out with a loud and bitter cry and said to his father, "Bless me—me too, my father!"

     35 But he said, "Your brother came deceitfully and took your blessing."

     36 Esau said, "Isn't he rightly named Jacob? He has deceived me these two times: He took my birthright, and now he's taken my blessing!" Then he asked, "Haven't you reserved any blessing for me?"

     37 Isaac answered Esau, "I have made him lord over you and have made all his relatives his servants, and I have sustained him with grain and new wine. So what can I possibly do for you, my son?"

       Isaac had performed the ceremony of blessing which was the birthright of the rightful heir to whom he thought was his eldest son. This birthright could not be officially his until his father performed the blessing upon him and pronounced him rightful heir. Before the blessing was given, the father could take away the birthright and give it to a more deserving son. Once the blessing was given the birthright could no longer be taken away. This is why the fathers waited until later in life to give the blessing. Although Jacob had been given the birthright by his older brother years before, he still needed his father’s blessing to make it binding.

    Challenge;

        We now are all blessed by the Father. He gives all His believers His blessings. This means that we are all rightful heirs and in God’s family. Jesus saw to that. With that said, never doubt that you are a blessed child of the all mighty God. He saw to it that we all receive His blessing which makes it a binding contract. Now let’s all go out there and prove that we deserve our Father’s blessing from now until we meet with Him.

    Victory

    The word of the day is:

    Victory

    Joshua 11:18

       [18] Joshua waged war against all these kings for a long time.

       Even though the conquest of Canaan seems to happen quickly, as far as reading about it in the Bible, it actually took about seven years. Our human nature seems to make us think that when we change our lives, it will happen overnight, that our victories over sin will be quick and never TRY to come back. Remembering that our journey with God is not an overnight thing and that we should stop believing because we already know the victory has been won is not the right mind frame. It’s very easy to grow impatient with God to answer prayers or help us our in our time of need but we need to remember that it’s God’s perfect timing that won the ultimate victory. Don’t give up hope because things are happening to slowly. When we are too close to situations in our lives sometimes we do not see the progress God is making.

    Challenge;

       Look back today on a situation in your life that God seemed to take His time to show up. You will eventually see that God never gave up on any situation in your life that you asked for His help. You will see that He was by your side every step of the way, but maybe sometimes you were the one that got in His way. Every step toward Him is a victory and should be celebrated as such.
