    THANKSGIVING

    Hey,

It is said that there is only one fruitcake  in this world. That it has been given to someone who then 're-gifts" it to someone else each year. Re-gifting is a useful technique. Taking something that you receive and turning it into a gift for someone else.

God doesn't give us things just so that we can have them. We must remember that this life isn't really about us. It is about giving glory to God and bringing others to a relationship with Him. He loves us and He blesses us but He doesn't give us things to stick in our pockets and be pleased with. He gives us things so that we can re-gift them.

This idea is commonly understood in things like houses, money, or cars. We know that we should share the physical things that we have been given with others. But we can see the other blessings we recieve thet same way.

I have a great family that works very well. We like each other. We make each other stronger. I only recently realized that many people don't have a family like that. This year we were very happy to be able to re-gift that family blessing by taking someone in and being a family for her. We can also share the strength that we gained from some trial, or the wisdom we learned from an event.

Think of the things that you give thanks for this holiday.
How could you re-gift them? They were given to you for a reason, and it wasn't about you.

2Corinthians 1:3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.

    Born Gay?

    Hey,

One of the youth kids said rhat she was afraid she might be gay.

It took a while but God helped me with this answer.

There is a lot of complcated psychology here but it comes down to this. I don't believe anyone is born gay. Or rather, We are born sinners in every way, Homosexuality is a sinm and we all have a sin nature. So I guess we are all born gay. And murderers. And bank robbers. And every other sin. We have every possible sin inside of us.

But you were delivered from that nature when you became a Christian. That fact that you have chosen not to act on any sexual temptations that you've had is to your credit. In the same way that you haven't robbed a bank, or murdered anyone. Way to go. That says that you are choosing to follow God instead of your temptations. Keep up the good work.

I don't know if it was brillant but she said it helped.

    Hwy,

I have preached two sermons now. Both of them have been about the church. I didn't even know that that was my passion. But we are not an audience, we are the church.

An audience comes for entertainment                      the church comes to bear witness of Jesus Christ
An audience sits next to strangers                          the church sits next to family
An audience invests only in a ticket                        the church invests in each other
An audience will get up an leave if disappointed       the church asks how to help

When an service is over WE, the church, have done a good thing. After all, didn't we support, encourage, pray for, teach and fellowship with everyone involved?

    Hey,

This is a day in the life of Peter.

15As a result, people brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter's shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by. 16Crowds gathered also from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those tormented by evil spirits, and all of them were healed.

17Then the high priest and all his associates, who were members of the party of the Sadducees, were filled with jealousy. 18They arrested the apostles and put them in the public jail. 19But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the doors of the jail and brought them out. 20"Go, stand in the temple courts," he said, "and tell the people the full message of this new life."

29Peter and the other apostles replied: "We must obey God rather than men! 30The God of our fathers raised Jesus from the dead—whom you had killed by hanging him on a tree. 31God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior that he might give repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel. 32We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him."

33When they heard this, they were furious and wanted to put them to death. 34But a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law, who was honored by all the people, stood up in the Sanhedrin and ordered that the men be put outside for a little while. 35Then he addressed them: "Men of Israel, consider carefully what you intend to do to these men.

38Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. 39But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God." 40His speech persuaded them. They called the apostles in and had them flogged. Then they ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

41The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name

He heals all the sick. He  is jailed and released by an angel. He gets to tell the Sanhedrin off. He life is spared.
Notice what he rejoices about. "Having suffered disgrace". He isn't even rejoicing over the beating, because that is kinda heroic, suffering for the cause. He rejoices over the disgrace. The not so heroic put-downs and laughter.

    How was your day?
