The world is fascinated with Jesus

Who Is This Jesus of Christmas?

The world is always fascinated with Jesus. If He wasn’t such a threat to Satan, then the atheist, the agnostics, the non-christian religious groups, and the sectarian society wouldn’t worry about His presence in the affairs of human society. But He is a threat and the peoples who refuse to accept Him as real, show their fascination by continually seeking to destroy His image.

Each year at Christmas time Satan goes to battle seeking to eliminate Him from the public arena. To use a military term, they don’t want the name of Jesus anywhere in the theater of public life. Some of their admirers have recently gone on record to say that Christianity and religion should be abolished altogether.

Sorry! That will not happen. This nation still has millions of believers and they are willing to stand up and fight to keep Christ in Christmas. They are still a force to be reckoned with in the malls and storefronts across America. Christians have organizational watchdogs that alerts them to the danger spots.

Folks! Christmas is here to stay until the Prince of Peace, the King of kings, the Lord Jesus Himself returns to this earth. The political scene, say the politicians, is about to change. A new line of leadership has been sent to Washington to switch the balance of power from the Republicans to the Democrats. But, you haven’t seen anything yet! One day in the future, we do not know when, the power of Heaven will set up shop in the new world’s capital, the city of God, the new Jerusalem. You see, the world won’t end, but its government will change and that change will last forever into eternity future.

Some two thousand years ago, the birth of Jesus went totally unnoticed by the society in Bethlehem. The crowds gathered and filled the country side as they came to register as mandated by King Herod. They had their own set of problems.

But the shepherds, taking care of the sheep out on the hillside, were introduced to this awesome event. The angels flooded the heavens with their brilliance as their light startled these men. They told them about the Savior’s birth and where they could find him. So they went, they saw, and they rejoiced.

Fast forward two thousand years and this fascination of who is Jesus is refreshed. Some claim that Jesus was the illegitimate son of a Roman soldier. Others will say that Jesus was born a natural birth and that God came upon Him at His baptism by John the Baptist and then left Him at the cross. But John, in his gospel, wrote that "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God" (1:1). In verse 14 he wrote, "The Word became flesh and took up residence among us".This is were we get the doctrine of the Incarnation which refers to God becoming human without in any way ceasing to be God.

The nay sayers are still looking for the grave and the bones of Jesus. But they will never find any bones because the grave couldn’t hold Him. On the third day after the crucifixion, He arose from the tomb of death.

Who is this Jesus of Christmas? Stop your search. Look into the source book which gives the answer. God has revealed Himself to the world in physical form as He became the Son of God, born of Mary the virgin. You see, Jesus didn’t begin in Bethlehem, He simply entered our dimension so we could one day be ushered into His Heavenly dimension.

Who is this Jesus of Christmas? He is the Savior of lost sinners who repent and come to Him by faith. Don’t miss the real meaning of Christmas in 2006!

    Christmas is here again!

    Be A Proactive Christmas Supporter

The bells of Christmas have begun to ring. Homes are taking on a new appearance as Christmas lights brightly shine. Store show windows are flashing "must have" merchandise. And people of all ages are thinking about gift giving and of course, gift receiving.

When you add the pre-Thanksgiving Christmas advertising to the already 25 days of December, this is the longest promoted season of the year. From now forward the blitz will be full speed ahead. The world of greed will clash with our human desire seeking to dislodge the dollars from our pockets. Most people will swipe the plastic and go further into debt.

Christmas is a fun season and a Holy day. Xmas, and I understand how the X is the Greek symbol for "Christ", is a shortcut or initial which seeks to ease the religious symbolism from the celebration. And "Happy Holidays" isn’t even on the chart except with the folks who want to be politically correct. While seeking to be neutral and not offend people with such nonsense of a Christian holiday for everyone and everyplace, I personally become offended by the anti-Christ in Christmas individuals and groups.

The ACLU, along with their many cohorts, in recent years have sought to eliminate the Christian Christmas. It has been removed, for the most part, from the public education centers. It has been outlawed from the public city square. Some businesses have tried to delete it from their language. But Christmas, for now, is still on the calendar. It is still supported by a majority of this nation’s citizens.

The Christian Christmas started in Bethlehem some 2,000 years ago. Matthew Price of BBC News gave a recent report of Bethlehem. He wrote, "The little town of Bethlehem is perhaps more associated with Christianity than any other place in the world. But now there are fears that soon it could be a home to hardly any Christians at all". "Insecurity is deep and getting worse", according to the Franciscan Foundation for the Holy Land. The report went on to say "Christians could become extinct in the area within 60 years." It is because the so called religion of tolerance, the Muslims, won’t except Christianity. They won’t even tolerate it when Arabs turn to Christ for salvation.

Who would have ever believed that the place of Jesus’ birth would see such an exodus of believers from the area? And who would have ever dreamed that Christmas could become an endangered holiday here in the land of America? That danger is no longer a distant fear, it is becoming more and more a modern day reality.

What can we do in this critical moment of history? We can make sure that the Christian Christmas is a vital part of our celebrations. Make sure that your cards carry a Christian theme. Resist purchasing Happy Holiday cards for your family and friends. Force the merchants to either eat them or return them as items which can’t be moved.

Then, put a smile of joy on your faces as you go about your shopping. Greet people with a merry heart and always wish them a "Merry Christmas". When Christians live with a happy Christian Christmas attitude, that will go a long way in disarming the enemies of the season. Be a positive force in your support of Christmas. If you have the ability to do so, write letters to the editors.

When shopping in stores that won’t allow their employees to wish folk a Merry Christmas, either don’t shop there or make sure you wish them a Merry Christmas. They can’t arrest you, they can’t do anything to you. They might not like it, but at this point, step out of the political correct boundaries and give a positive witness for Christ and His birthday.

Remember, "He is the Reason for the Season".

Christian living is a personal responsibility

Building Our Rose Garden For Heaven

The Christian life is like a rose garden. From a distance one admires its beauty, enjoys its fragrant smell, and views the beauty they add to the landscape. The bed of roses appears to be a spot where one can lie down and relax.

But anyone who knows anything about roses is aware of the pain which they can inflect. Within all that beauty and sweet fragrance are hidden sharp thorns.

The Christian life has the beauty of a promised future paradise and the fragrance of God’s abiding love. But there are also thorns which pricks the tender emotions of God’s people. Disease attacks the physical body, loved ones die, jobs are lost, children don’t respond to parental guidance, along with a number of other thorns brings heartache and tears. So, along with the joy of salvation Christians also face difficult experiences.

Even though the rose garden includes thorns, it’s the rose’s beauty and fragrance which draws all the attention. The rose simply continues to display its beauty in spite of the thorns. So it is with the child of God. The Christian’s responsibility is to keep on, in spite of their difficult days, displaying the beauty of salvation to a world in need of future hope.

Paul’s warning to the Christians in Rome is serious alert. Believers are ever walking toward the Judgement Seat of Christ. John in Revelation 20:12 informs us that the lost people at the Great White Throne Judgement will be "judged according to their works". And Paul reminds Christians that "each of us will give an account of himself to God" (Ro. 14:12). That is a serious alert because each person is responsible for their own conduct as believers.

It’s human nature to blame other people for bad habits, crimes against the innocent, sinful lifestyles, and a host of other sinful habits. It is true that individuals are influenced by the environment in which one is raised but no one can blame their life of alcohol, drugs, crime, sexual perversion, nor any other evil lifestyle upon their environment. Ultimately all humanity stands on their own two feet before God.

The things which makes the spiritual rose garden a sweet smelling fragrance and a spiritually beautiful landscape are the works which the life produces. That’s why Paul’s alert is so serious. We are moving from this moment toward the time which our works will be tested by our Lord. Paul the apostle describes this journey in as a race. He wrote in 1st Corinthians 9:25, "Now everyone who competes exercises self-control in everything". He was comparing the runner’s preparation to that of a believer on the road of life.

Every believer must live their life with the goal of gaining the victor’s crown. The focus must remain upon the Word of God as one’s guidebook for life. Attitudes must be changed to correspond with that guidebook. And we should be intent on sending on ahead into the deposit coffers of Heaven materials which shall stand the test of God’s judgement.

We are accountable to God for the works in the flesh. Perhaps you’ve never understood just how serious is this matter. We’ll give account for every word spoken, every deed done, for every deed not done, for ever act of unkindness and for all the actions of our lives as Christians.

Here is our proposition! At this wonderful Thanksgiving Season, let’s refocus our attention upon the God of creation and His Holy Book the Bible. Let’s thank Him for all His goodness in our nation and in our individual lives. Let’s lay aside all those excuses as to why we aren’t faithful to Him and His House of Worship. Let’s joyfully focus upon the Bible to help us prepare the rest of our lives in sending up ahead some good material to determine our reward. There is no better time to start than now!
