    SALVATION AND COMMUNION

On the question of communion, only born again believers (John 3: 3; Eph. 1: 13-14) are supposed to have communion because only born again believers could identify with the broken body and shed blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.

But as born again believers it is necessary to confess all sins (because we displease God in our daily lives) and repent of them ( 1 John 1: 8-9) before we partake of communion. If we don't we will be taking communion unworthily ( 1 Corinthians 11: 27-31).

When we are saved we are sealed with the Holy Spirit
(Eph. 1: 13-14). Faithfulness to God is essential (Heb. 3:14). The apostle Paul tells us that some believers will be saved as people escaping through the flames. Please read 1 Corinthians 3: 10-17.

Why did Jesus preach to the spirits of those people who were disobedient in the days of Noah?

The Bible records concerning Jesus, He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit, through whom also he went and preached to the spirits in prison who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. … But they will have to give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead, so that they might be judged according to men in regard to the body, but live according to God in regard to the spirit (1 Peter 3: 18-20; 4: 5-6).

WHAT MUST A PERSON DO TO BECOME A CITIZEN OF THE NEW JERUSALEM?

What must one do to become a citizen of the new Jerusalem ? What happens to an individual when he/she becomes a citizen? What are the responsibilities of citizenship?

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). (Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins (Matt. 1:20-21).

TO BECOME A CITIZEN OF THE NEW JERUSALEM WE MUST BE BORN AGAIN

The following phrases are synonymous with the term to be born again:  to receive Jesus,  to believe in the name of Jesus, believe in the Lord Jesus, confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord  and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead and to believe that Jesus is the Christ.

The apostle John penned these words: Yet to all who received him (JESUS -  italic mine), to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God – children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision, or a husband’s will, but born of God (John 1:12-13).

Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved(Acts 16:31).

That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved (Rom. 10:9).

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well (1 John 5:1).

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).

Jesus said to Nicodemus : I tell you the truth, unless a man is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God (John 3:3).  Jesus answered : I tell you the truth, unless a man is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit (John 3: 5-6

    RESPONSIBILITIES OF CITIZENSHIP

We are called to love the Lord, our God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength and to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. In order to do this we must manifest the fruit of the Spirit in our lives (Gal. 5: 22-23).

Before the new Jerusalem comes down from heaven, when a believer dies his spirit goes to heaven (Phil. 1: 21-24).

The apostle Paul wrote: But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him, to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body (Phil. 3:20-21).

When God creates a new heaven and a new earth, believers will take up residence in the new Jerusalem ( Rev. 21: 1-4).

    Where are the dead?

A number of denominations teach that the soul (spirit) of the dead remains in the grave until the resurrection. Among them are the Seventh Day Adventist Church and Jehovah Witnesses. Their teaching is false.

    Please read Luke 16: 19-31; Ecclesiastes 12: 6-7; Philippians 1: 21-24; 1 Thessalonians 4: 13-14.
