    Invitation from God

God invites you to participate in the greatest, largest, most diverse, and most significant cause in history -- His Kingdom.  History is His Story.  He's building His family for eternity.  Nothing matters more, and nothing will last as long.  From the book of Revelation we know that God's global mission will be accomplished.  Someday the Great Commission withll be the Great Completion.

When Jesus told His followers to "go everywhere in the world, and tell the Good News to everyone" (Mark 16:15).  That small band of poor, Middle Eastern disciples were overwhelmed.  Were they supposed to walk or ride slow animals?  That's all they had .... Today we have airplanes, ships, trains, buses, and automobiles ... Now, with the Internet, the world has gotten even smaller.

You can be either a world-class Christian or a worldly Christian.  Worldly Christians look to God primarily for personal fulfillment .... They love to attend concerts and enrichment seminars, but you would never find them at a mission conference ....  In contrast, world-class Christians know we were saved to serve and made for a mission.  We are eager to receive a personal assignment.

    THANKSGIVING IS .....

Thanksgiving is a time for gratitude to God,
our Creator and Provider, whose guidance and care go before us ...
and whose love is with us forever.

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on the changes, to remember that we, too, grow old and change from one season of life to another.

Thanksgiving is a time of changing seasons, when leaves turn golden in Autumn's wake, and apples are crisp in
the first chill breeze of fall.

Let us remember the true meaning of Thanksgiving.
As we see the beauty of Autumn, let us acknowledge the many blessings which are ours
... let us think of our families and friends ...
and let us give thanks from our hearts.

William James said, "The best use of life is to spend it for something that outlasts it."  The truth is, only the Kingdom of God is going to last.  Everything else will [eventually] vanish .....

But my life is worth nothing unless I use it for .. telling others the Good News about God's wonderful kindness and love (Acts 20:24)

Jesus didn't know the day or hour of His return so why should we try to figure it out?  What we do know for sure is this: Jesus will not return until everyone God wants to hear the Good News has heard it.  Jesus said, "This gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world ... and then the end will come" (Matthew 24:14)

    WHAT'S ON YOUR AGENDA?

When you became a Believer, you also became God's messenger. God wants to speak to the world through you. Paul said, "We speak the truth before God, as Messengers of God" (2 Corinthians 2:17). You may feel you don't have anything to share, but that's the devil trying to keep you silent. You have a storehouse of experiences that God wants to use to bring others into his family.

To fulfill your mission will require that you abandon your agenda and accept God's agenda for your life...... You must say, like Jesus, "Father.... I want your will, not mine" (Luke 22:42).  You hand God a blank sheet with your name signed at the bottom and ask Him to fill in the details.

    The Great Commission

Our mission is so significant that Jesus repeated it five times, in five different ways, in five different books of the Bible.  It's as if He was saying, "I really want you to get this!" ...

"The Great Commission" was given to every follower of Jesus, not to pastors and missionaries alone ... and it's not optional.  It is not the Great Suggestion!

..."Go and make disciples of all nations"...
    Matthew 18:19

It's a big responsibility and an incredible honor to be used by God.  Paul said, "God has given us the privilege of urging everyone to come into His favor and be reconciled to Him"
    (2 Corinthians 5:18)

    Our mission involves two great
privileges: working with God and representing Him.

We're partners in the building of His kingdom!

    Humble am I?

God will use your weaknesses, not just your strengths. If all people ever see is your strength, they might get discouraged and think, "Well, good for her, but I'll never be able to do that." But when they see God using you in spite of your weaknesses, it encourages them to think "Maybe God can use me!"

Humility does not mean putting yourself down or denying your strengths; rather, it is being honest about your weaknesses. The more honest you are, the more of God's grace you get. You will also receive grace from others. Vulnerability is an endearing quality; we are naturally drawn to humble people.... just as Jesus Himself was a humble man.

"-God gave me a special work to do ... to tell fully the message of God" Colossians 1:21

God is at work in the world, and He wants us to join Him. This assignment is called our mission. God wants us to have both a mininstry in the Body of Christ and a mission in the world. Our ministry is our service to believers, and our mission is our service to non-believers. Jesus said, "As the Father has sent Me, I am sending you" John 20:21.  He wants to redeem human beings from Satan and reconcile them to Himself so we can fulfill the purposes He created us for: to love Him, to be a part of His family, to become like Him, to serve Him, and to tell others about Him. Once we are His, God uses us to reach others.
