How can we maintain that unity?

          - I want to do more than diagnose the problem, I want to talk about what we can do to make sure it doesn’t happen to us.

          - I got to thinking about the unity that the early church enjoyed and how we can have that.

          - There is a Greek word - “homothumadon” - that pretty much only shows up in the book of Acts (11 of 12 NT uses). It means “with one mind, unanimous, in one accord.” I want to briefly look at what the early church was doing that kept their unity. (We’re just going to handle it briefly; I may come back and unpack this some other time.)

Maintaining The Unity Of The Church:

          1. Acts 1:14 - It all starts with PRAYER.

          2. Acts 2:46 - Stay focused on the PURPOSES.

          3. Acts 4:24 - Be quick to lift up PRAISE.

          4. Acts 5:12 - Be channels of God’s POWER.

          5. Acts 8:4-6 - Boldly PREACH the Word.

          6. Acts 15:25 - Maintain biblical PEACE.

          7. Acts 19:29 (and 7:57 and 18:12) - Don’t be surprised by PERSECUTION. ...

"Ican do all things through Christ which strengtheth me" phil.4:13

Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends that read my blogs& are members, God bless you

As I think on all that it means this week to be thankful -- truly thankful for everything -- I have thought a lot about specific blessings the Lord has given to myself and to my family. We are healthy, happy we have food to eat, a roof over our heads, clothes to keep us warm, and we know we belong to the family of God, members of His church , we are so blessed having friend who love us, and are prayer warriors, keeps us in prayer.
I am thankful God carries our burdens
"Praise is to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens." Psalm 68:3
I am thankful God hears me when I pray
"In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice. In the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation." Psalm 5:3
This is the confidence we have in approaching God, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us - whatever we ask - we know that we have what we ask." 1 John 5:14-15
we are thankful for God's great love and faithfulness
"Because of the Lord's great love, we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning, great is your faithfulness." Lamentations 3:23, 24
I am thankful that, as a believer, I will dwell in God's house for eternity
"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." Psalm 23:6
I am thankful that, with God, there is no need to be anxious or to worry
"But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious for tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:33-34
I am thankful that God gives me the strength I need
"I can do all things through Him who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13
I am thankful tonight for prayer. I am thankful to be a part of a community of believers that all feel prayer is real and that it is mighty. I am so thankful to be one of many to know and act on the fact that so much is found when we collectively take it ALL to the Lord in prayer.

    Happy Thanksgiving!
