Remain Faithful
Just as a virus has a destructive influence on a computer, so sin
has a devastating effect in our lives. This is true of many Christians
today. Just as in Sardis they take a light view of sin, perhaps
compromising God’s standards of holiness for other things. If as
believers we remain faithful to God and continue to live holy lives,
protecting our selves from compromise . Just as a few believers in
Sardis did many years ago. We also can experience the blessings of God
not only on earth but in heaven.
Thou
hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments;
and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy. Revelation
3:4 [KJV]

God’s Word
Those who live in regions of the United States where tornadoes are
prevalent know the power of these storms. They cause major destruction
by uprooting trees, destroying homes, and throwing cars hundreds of
feet. The tornadoes can slam into the ground with such force that
nothing but large holes remain. God’s Word is more powerful than even
these great winds. It can reach deep into our lives, convicting us of
sin or assuring us of God’s unconditional love for us. When we have soul
wrenching need , God’s Word is there to immerse our lives with the
assurance of His grace. Furthermore God’s Word exposes our thoughts and
our intentions. Nothing is hidden from God’s searching eye.
For
the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged
sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both
joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the
heart. Hebrews 4:12 NASB

No Other Name
When Christians declare that Jesus is the only Savior God has
provided, we fly in the face of popular opinion. People may consider us
narrow minded, ignorant, unsophisticated, or worse to say there is only
one way to get to God. Nevertheless, let’s not be silent about our Lord.
The good news about Jesus is still good news.
Salvation
is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given
to mankind by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12 NIV

Purity of Heart
Someone said, ‘Opportunity may knock once, but temptation knocks
everyday.” Every time temptation knocks we have an opportunity to say
No! to our own desires and yes Lord! to His righteousness. Call out to
God the source of purity. Temptation is sure to come, but we don’t have
to yield. We can run from temptation and toward righteousness, faith,
love, and peace.
Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue
righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of
a pure heart. 2 Timothy 2:22 NKJV

God Lifts Us Up
Jesus taught His followers to avoid prestigious positions or public
recognition. Jesus left us with a two sided reminder; if we try to
exalt ourselves, God will humble us. If however, we discipline ourselves
to live with humility, God will lift us up. Isn’t it sad how often we
see the negative side of this principle in our culture? We shake our
heads in wonder each time a famous athlete, entertainer, politician, or
religious leader falls from public admiration to shame. But the top is a
dangerous place for anyone to be; one slip and anyone can tumble to the
bottom in disgrace. Jesus words are not for just a famous few . They
are true for any small corner of the world.
Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. Matthew 23:12 HCSB
