    Philippians 1:27

Philippians 1:27  Above all, you must live as citizens of heavan, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the good news about Christ.  Then, whether I come and see you again or only hear about you, I will know that you are standing side by side, fighting together for the faith, which is good news.

We must conduct ourselves as citizens of heavan, worthy of the good news.  We are representatives of Christ.  When people look at us they are watching us to see how we live our lives and react to different situations.  Some people want to see us fail others want to know that there is hope in this world and we represent that hope.  The only Bible some people will every read is us.

    Psalm 71

1 In you, O Lord, I take refuge. Never let me be disappointed.

2 Deliver me in your righteousness, and rescue me. Turn your ear to me, and save me.

3 Be to me a rock of refuge to which I may always go. Give the command to save me, For you are my rock and my fortress.

4 Rescue me, my God, from the hand of the wicked, From the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.

5 For you are my hope, O Lord; My confidence from my youth.

6 I have relied on you from the womb. You are he who took me out of my mother’s womb. I will always praise you.

7 I am a marvel to many, But you are my strong refuge.

8 My mouth shall be filled with your praise, With your honor all the day.

9 Don’t reject me in my old age. Don’t forsake me when my strength fails.

10 For my enemies talk about me. Those who watch for my soul conspire together,

11 Saying, “God has forsaken him. Pursue and take him, for no one will rescue him.”

12 God, don’t be far from me. My God, hurry to help me.

13 Let my accusers be disappointed and consumed. Let them be covered with disgrace and scorn who want to harm me.

14 But I will always hope, And will add to all of your praise.

15 My mouth will tell about your righteousness, And of your salvation all day, Though I don’t know its full measure.

16 I will come with the mighty acts of the Lord. I will make mention of your righteousness, even of yours alone.

17 God, you have taught me from my youth. Until now, I have declared your wondrous works.

18 Yes, even when I am old and gray-haired, God, don’t forsake me, Until I have declared your strength to the next generation, Your might to everyone who is to come.

19 Your righteousness also, God, reaches to the heavens; You have done great things. God, who is like you?

20 You, who have shown us many and bitter troubles, You will let me live. You will bring us up again from the depths of the earth.

21 Increase my honor, And comfort me again.

22 I will also praise you with the harp for your faithfulness, my God. I sing praises to you with the lyre, Holy One of Israel.

23 My lips shall shout for joy! My soul, which you have redeemed, sings praises to you!

24 My tongue will also talk about your righteousness all day long, For they are disappointed, and they are confounded, who want to harm me.

    Ephesians 6:11,12

11: Take up God's instruments of war, so that you may be able to keep your position against all the deceits of the Evil One.

12: For our fight is not against flesh and blood, but against authorities and powers, against the world-rulers of this dark night, against the spirits of evil in the heavens.

If you are a Christian you are fighting a war.  I know war is a word that scares alot of people but we are at war against the devil and his evil in this world.  This war is being fought on several battlefronts.  The first battle is inside of us and the desire to do God's will or to do our own will.  There is a battle being fought for all of our souls between God and Satan.  And then we have to fight as Christians for the ability to worship God.  In the U.S. these is a political fight against liberal groups that would like to silence religion in the U.S. but in other parts of the world these is a very real physical fight.  It is easy to forget in some parts of the world Christians are dying for their beliefs usually at the hands of Muslim extrimists.

    Ephesians 5:1,2

Ephesians 5:1 Imitate God, therefore in everything you do, because you are his dear children.

    2. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ.  He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.

We strive to be Christ like but how much is a reality is that.  Christ lived a perfect life without sin.  We are sinful creatures saved by the grace of God.  We sin daily, evil thoughts, harsh words, sometimes more than that.  But we have a father that forgives us when we sin if we repent.  We should all strive to be Christ like but realize that we can never be truly Christ like because we are humans that will always make mistakes but it is ok because we have a father that is always willing to forgive us if we come to him for forgiveness.  So don't beat yourself up if you do slip up.  I see so many people get down on themselves when they do slip up.  It is ok, we all make mistakes, trying to live a perfect life aint easy.  Learn from your mistakes and strive to do better.

    Ephesians 4:17-19

Ephesians 4:17 With the Lord's authority I say this: Live no longer as the Gentiles do, for they are hopelessly confused.

    18. Their minds are full of darkness, they wander far from the life God gives because they have closed their hearts against him.

    19. They have no sense of shame.  They live for lustful pleasure and eargerly practice every kind of impurity.

This was written 2000 years ago but stands true today, people are hopelessly confused.  They reject Christanity but  follow such crackpot beliefs such as Scientology, Kirballa and other new age beliefs.  People's mind are full of darkness.  Horrific crimes are committed everyday so much so that they have almost become common place.  They have no sense of shame.  What is considered shameful anymore.  People will get nude on TV, say anything on TV just watch a reality show, you will see people with no shame.  They will live for lustful pleasure.  We have a city called Sin City that says it all.  But we know when we become saved we no longer live that way at least we shouldn't if you are you need to do some soul searching.

    Psalm 68:1-6

1 Let God arise! Let his enemies be scattered! Let them who hate him also flee before him.

2 As smoke is driven away, So drive them away.

As wax melts before the fire, So let the wicked perish at the presence of God.

3 But let the righteous be glad. Let them rejoice before God. Yes, let them rejoice with gladness.

4 Sing to God! Sing praises to his name! Extol him who rides on the clouds:

To Yah, his name! Rejoice before him!

5 A father of the fatherless, and a defender of the widows, Is God in his holy habitation.

6 God sets the lonely in families.

He brings out the prisoners with singing, But the rebellious dwell in a sun-scorched land.

    Proverbs 23:29-33

29 Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has strife? Who has complaints? Who has needless bruises? Who has bloodshot eyes?

30 Those who stay long at the wine; Those who go to seek out mixed wine.

31 Don’t look at the wine when it is red,

When it sparkles in the cup, When it goes down smoothly:

32 In the end, it bites like a snake, And poisons like a viper.

33 Your eyes will see strange things, And your mind will imagine confusing things.

    Galatians 6:7,8

Galatians 6:7 Don't be mislead you cannot mock the justice of God.  You will always harvest what you plant.

    8.  Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature.  But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.

You will harvest what you plant or reap what you sow.  I heard it put another way " garbage in, garbage out" in other words if all you are putting into your spirit is garbage such as porn, lust, greed than that is what you will reap but if you are putting good things into your spirit than that is what you will reap.  Take a hard life at your life is it filled with the things of God or the things of the world?

    Galatians 5:16,17

Galatians 5:16 So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives.  Then you won't be doing what your sinful nature craves.

    17.  The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants.  And the Spirit gives us desire that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires.  These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.

People don't like the terms war or battle but the truth is there is a war between good and evil all around us.  There is war within our own souls between a desire to do God's will or follow our own will.  There is a war between God and Satan over all of our souls.  We battle those forces in the world that are trying to destroy religion and take away our religious rights.  And wake up to the fact that radical Muslims want to destroy Christanity.  I know people don't like wars but if you are a Christian you are involved in several of them right now.

    Psalm 63:1-8

1 God, you are my God. I will earnestly seek you.

My soul thirsts for you, My flesh longs for you, In a dry and weary land, where there is no water.

2 So I have seen you in the sanctuary, Watching your power and your glory.

3 Because your loving kindness is better than life, My lips shall praise you.

4 So I will bless you while I live. I will lift up my hands in your name.

5 My soul shall be satisfied as with the richest food. My mouth shall praise you with joyful lips,

6 When I remember you on my bed, And think about you in the night watches.

7 For you have been my help. I will rejoice in the shadow of your wings.

8 My soul stays close to you. Your right hand holds me up.

    Psalm 62:12

12 Also to you, Lord, belongs loving kindness, For you reward every man according to his work.

I believe ever person gets what is coming to them.  We know in the end we will all be judged by God but I also believe we get what is coming to us in life also.  If you are a angry, rude, awful person that is your life you want have very much happiness in your life but if you are kind, loving person I believe that you will find happiness and find love in other people.  Some people call it fate, karma, or "what comes around goes around" but if you show love to other people I believe good things will happen but if show hatred and disdain to other people I believe you get the same in return.  Look at O.J. he got away with murder in the courts but his life has been miserable ever since.  People often cheat, lie and steal to get ahead and become rich just to find it brings nothing but heartbreak.  To summarize I belief we all get all we deserve in life it might just take awhile for it to come around but it will come around.

    Galatians 3:22

Galatians 3:22  But the scriptures declare that we are all prisoners of sin, so we recieve God's promises of freedom only by believing in Jesus Christ.

There is only one way to recieve freedom from sin and that is thru salvation in Christ.  People try all kinds of things to break free from their chains.  Self help books, therapy, rehab but they only find temporary relief because the only person that can break the chains of captivity is Christ.

    Galatians 2:20

20 I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I that live, but Christ living in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me.

IT IS NO LONGER I THAT LIVE but Christ living in me.  I have been crucified with Christ.  Our old lives are dead when we become Christians.  Christ has freed us from the slavery of sin.  When we become Christians we begin a new life, a new life in Christ.  So many people are trying to escape drug and alcohol abuse and other sins that keep them in captivity.  I tell you rehab is just temporary unless they have a complete lifestyle change, in others become saved, it will keep pulling the down.  Christ has freed us from our old sins, don't let them pull you back in.  Sin is describe as captivity, slavery, death throughout the Bible.  We become a servant to what controls our live, is it going to be Christ or sin?

    Galatians 1:10-13

10 For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? For if I were still pleasing men, I wouldn’t be a servant of Christ. 11 But I make known to you, brothers, concerning the gospel which was preached by me, that it is not according to man. 12 For neither did I receive it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came to me through revelation of Jesus Christ.

The Bible says we can't serve two masters.  We know as Christians we strive to please God.  To many churches today are trying to be pleasing to the world.  They are toning down their messages or avoiding troubling subjects all together or have change their message to be poltically correct.  Well we know God doesn't change, he is the same God today as he was 2000 years ago.  What was sin 2000 years ago is sin today.  These churches and ministers that are trying to please the world by trying to be poltically correct and avoid offending anyone will be judged by God.  I aint saying we should go out and cause contreversy but we shouldn't run from the truth.  As the saying goes sometimes the truth hurts.  And the truth is the world is in a moral decline.  When someone can get on TV and say Jesus sucks as Kathy Griffin did and get applause for it we are in trouble.  When our kids start watching TV shows on MTV where 16 lesbians try to win the love of another women we are in trouble.  Do we want MTV teaching our kids their idea of love.  One person I have always admired and considered a hero was Billy Graham but today kids are looking to movie stars and sports stars as role models.  The worst people they should be looking up to.  Hollywood is a modern day Sodom where sinful living reigns.  These aint the people our kids should be looking up to.  We need to give them real role models to look up to.  If your kids can't look up to you as role model than you are failing them as Christian parents and parents in general.

    Psalm 57

1 Be merciful to me, God, be merciful to me, For my soul takes refuge in you.

Yes, in the shadow of your wings, I will take refuge, Until disaster has passed.

2 I cry out to God Most High,

To God who accomplishes my requests for me.

3 He will send from heaven, and save me, He rebukes the one who is pursuing me.

    Selah.

God will send out his loving kindness and his truth.

4 My soul is among lions. I lie among those who are set on fire, Even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, And their tongue a sharp sword.

5 Be exalted, God, above the heavens! Let your glory be above all the earth!

6 They have prepared a net for my steps. My soul is bowed down.

They dig a pit before me. They fall into the midst of it themselves.

    Selah.

7 My heart is steadfast, God, my heart is steadfast. I will sing, yes, I will sing praises.

8 Wake up, my glory! Wake up, psaltery and harp! I will wake up the dawn.

9 I will give thanks to you, Lord, among the peoples. I will sing praises to you among the nations.

10 For your great loving kindness reaches to the heavens, And your truth to the skies.

11 Be exalted, God, above the heavens. Let your glory be over all the earth.

    2 Corinthians 10:12

2 Corinthians 10:12 Oh, don't worry; we wouldn't dare say that we are as wonderful as these other men who tell you how how important they are. But they are only comparing themselves with each other, using themselves as the standard of measurement.  How ignorant.

Our society has set certain people up above others in our society.  Certain people who really don't deserve that honor, movie stars, sports stars, and other Hollywood types.  Then we seem suprised when they fall from grace.  What did they do in the first place to deserve that honor, after all they are just people, being famous doesn't make you a better person.  In fact fame seems to me to corrupt good people.  So why do we try to make heroes out of other people?  The people of these world who reject Christ try to replace him with idols of their own who can't measure up to the same standard.  I have always found it pretty silly people who worship celebrities.  I have my own life to live without trying to follow someone's else life.  But it is a big business.  There are magazines and TV shows dedicated to reporting on the famous because so many people are interested.  I truly believe these people are looking for something missing in their lives.  Want to take a wild guess what is missing?  They are looking in the wrong places for a person to look up to, a hereo, a leader, a Savior.
