GOD'S WORD IS TRUTH (Rev. Joseph E. Mahabir)
The Glorious Appearing is a book on prophecy that points out unscriptural teaching of many authors and Bible teachers on the Second Coming of Jesus, the resurrection, the Rapture, the Tribulation (Daniel's prophecy, chapter 9), the Day of Judgment, the Day of the Lord, Israel and the Church, "the chosen people", the Sabbath, Ezekiel's temple, the lights of Isaiah (chapter 30), the Millennium, the end of this present heaven and earth and the commencement of eternity.

(PART 5). Dr. David Jeremiah, host of the television ministry Turning Point and senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church in El Cajon, California, in his book, writes, God has certainly kept his promise to Abraham. He has blessed him and the nation that has come from him; He has multiplied his seed as the sands of the earth and stars of the sky; He has made him a blessing to the whole world; those who have blessed him have been blessed, and those who have cursed him have been cursed. (WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON? Thomas Nelson, Nashville, Tennessee, 2008), p. 6. (PLEASE LOOK OUT FOR PART 6).

    DISCUSSION

Dr. Jeremiah’s use of the word seed (He has multiplied his seed as the sands of the earth and stars of the sky) relates to the physical descendants of Abraham. This is the interpretation of Dispensational Premillennialists.

Let us look at the passage from which God’s promise is recorded. This man will not be your heir, but a son coming from your own body will be your heir. He took him outside and said, ‘Look at the heavens and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.’ Then he said to him, ‘So shall your offspring be’ (Gen. 15: 4-5).

The son that came from Abraham’s body was Isaac. Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the very time God had promised him. Abraham gave the name Isaac to the son Sarah bore him (Gen. 21: 2-3).

The apostle Paul explains the term “offspring” or “seed.” The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. The  Scripture does not say “and to seeds,” meaning many people, but “and to your seed,” meaning one person, who is Christ (Gal. ).

                                SCRIPTURAL CONCLUSION

Abraham’s “seed” or “offspring” does not mean his physical descendants as taught by Dr. David Jeremiah and Dispensational Premillennialists but spiritual descendants, that is, believers both Jews and Gentiles.

The above conclusion is made clear by the following Scripture. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise (Gal. ).

(PART 4). Dr. David Jeremiah, host of the television ministry Turning Point and senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church in El Cajon, California, comments in his book on the following Scripture, And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you … Also I give to you and your descendants after you the land in which you are a stranger, all the land of Canaan, as an everlasting possession; and I will be their God (Genesis 17: 7-8).

In this remarkable prophecy God promised Abraham and his descendants the land of Canaan as their possession in perpetuity. … Not until the Millennium will Israel occupy all the land the Lord gave her in His promise to Abraham.  (WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON? Thomas Nelson, Nashville, Tennessee, 2008), pp. 10-11.  (PLEASE LOOK OUT FOR PART 5).

                                                                                                           DISCUSSION

Dr. Jeremiah writes: Not until the Millennium will Israel occupy all the land the Lord gave her in His promise to Abraham.

Will the physical descendants of Abraham, the nation of Israel, possess land after the day of judgment?

Matthew’s gospel informs us that on the day of judgment some people will go into eternal life and some people will go into eternal punishment (Matt. 25: 46). Eternal life and eternal punishment mean the commencement of eternity. In eternity there will be no land occupancy as we know it now.

The apostle Peter tells us that on the day of judgment this present heaven and earth will be burned up and God will create a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness (2 Pet. 3: 7-13).  People will no longer live in physical bodies, possess land and have children. Believers will have bodies like the resurrected body of Jesus (Phil. -21).

      SCRIPTURAL CONCLUSION

When the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, descends to earth, it will be the dwelling place of all believers. It will be their eternal home. Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away (Revelation 21: 3-4, NIV).

Contrary to Dr. Jeremiah’s teaching, the Scriptures do not support a millennium in which the physical descendants of Abraham will possess the land of Canaan (Matt. 25: 31-46; 2 Pet. 3: 3-13).

(PART 3). Dr. David Jeremiah, host of the television ministry Turning Point and senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church in El Cajon, California, in his book, writes, When you look at a map and locate that tiny strip of land Israel now claims as hers, you can see that she does not now, nor has she ever fully occupied the land that was described to Abraham in God’s covenant promise. If Israel were currently occupying all the land promised to her, she would control all the holdings of present day Israel, Lebanon, the West Bank of Jordan, and substantial portions of Syria, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia. Not until the Millennium will Israel occupy all the land the Lord gave her in His promise to Abraham.  (WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON? Thomas Nelson, Nashville, Tennessee, 2008), pp. 10 - 11.   (PLEASE LOOK OUT FOR PART 4 ).

                                                                                                           DISCUSSION

Dr. Jeremiah writes: Not until the Millennium will Israel occupy all the land the Lord gave her in His promise to Abraham.

The land promised to Abraham stretched from the river of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates. We read:

When the sun had set and darkness had fallen, a smoking firepot with a blazing torch appeared and passed between the pieces. On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram and said, ‘To your descendants I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates- the land of the Kenites, Kenizzites, Kadmonites, Hittites, Perizzites, Rephaites, Amorites, Canaanites, Girgashites and Jebusites (Genesis 15: 17-21).

The land that was promised was ruled by King Solomon. We read, And  Solomon ruled over all the kingdoms from the River (Euphrates) to the land of the Philistines, as far as the border of Egypt (1 Kings ).

       SCRIPTURAL CONCLUSION

The Scriptures teach that on the day of judgment the righteous will go into the kingdom of God and the unrighteous will go into the eternal fire (Matt. 25: 31-46).

No nation will own land after the judgment since God will create a new heaven and a new earth (2 Pet. 3: 7-13) and He will establish his everlasting kingdom (Dan. 7: 27; Rev. 11: 15-18).

The establishment of God’s everlasting kingdom rules out a millennial kingdom.

Dr. Jeremiah’s teaching is not supported by Scripture.

(PART 2). Dr. David Jeremiah, host of the television ministry Turning Point and senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church in El Cajon, California, in his book, writes, Followers of Christ who are raptured will be spared the trauma of death and the coming disasters that will occur when the Tribulation breaks out upon the earth. That is indeed a cause for true rapture on the part of those who love the Lord and long to be with him.  (WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON? Thomas Nelson, Nashville, Tennessee, 2008), p. 99. (PLEASE LOOK OUT FOR PART 3).

    DISCUSSION

Dr. David Jeremiah teaches that the church will be raptured before the Tribulation breaks out. Is his teaching scriptural?

    What is the rapture?

The rapture is the phenomenon of “the catching up” or “the gathering” of believers (the saints) unto Jesus (1 Thess. -17; 2 Thess. 2: 1-3).

A  large number of born again believers place their confidence in the pretribulation rapture theory. Could the teaching of the pretribulation rapture theory be found in the Scriptures?

A retired minister, who at one time believed in the pretribulation rapture theory and preached it from his pulpit, wrote a book in which he stated that the pretribulation rapture theory is a doctrine from “the pit of hell.”

If a theory is scriptural then it must be supported one hundred per cent by the Scriptures.

Please judge for yourselves. Let the Scriptures speak to you.

The pretribulation rapture theory teaches that the rapture will take place before the Tribulation begins, before the Antichrist (the man of lawlessness) is revealed.

Pretribulationists take 1 Thessalonians 4: 16-17 out of context to teach their doctrine. The Book of Thessalonians is an epistle (letter). When the apostle Paul wrote it, there were no chapter divisions and verse divisions. These divisions came hundreds of years later.

When we read 1 Thessalonians 4: 16 - 1 Thessalonians 5: 3, we will find not a pretribulation rapture theory but the rapture on the day of judgment, which will take place at the end of the Tribulation.

When will the rapture take place?

The rapture cannot take place before the resurrection of the dead in Christ takes place.

Jesus taught that the resurrection of the dead in Christ will take place at the last day, at the end of the age (John 6: 39-40; Luke 20: 34-36).

The apostle Paul taught that the resurrection of the dead in Christ will take place at the sounding of the last trumpet (1 Cor. -54).

According to the teaching of Jesus and the apostle Paul, the rapture cannot take place before the last day, at the last trumpet, at the end of the age. WILL OUR LORD JESUS AND THE APOSTLE PAUL DECEIVE US?

                             SCRIPTURAL CONCLUSION

The Scriptures demonstrate beyond a reasonable doubt that the pretribulation rapture theory is false. The LEFT BEHIND SERIES is based on the pretribulation rapture theory. Since the Scriptures show that the pretribulation rapture theory is false, therefore the LEFT BEHIND SERIES is also false.

Dear believers, I would like to encourage you to reject the doctrine of man and to place your confidence in the authority of Scripture.

(PART 1). Dr. David Jeremiah, host of the television ministry Turning Point and senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church in El Cajon, California, in his book, writes, The Bible predicts that worldwide chaos, instability, and disorder will increase as we approach the end of this age. … Just before these tensions explode into world chaos, the Rapture of the church will depopulate much of the planet. As many as seventy million people could suddenly disappear from our nation alone. The devastation wrought by these disasters will spur a worldwide outcry for relief and order at almost any cost. That will set the stage for the emergence of a new world leader who will, like a pied piper, promise a solution to all problems. He will negotiate world peace and promise order and security. This leader, who will emerge out of the newly formed European Union, is commonly referred to in the Bible as the Antichrist. (WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON? Thomas Nelson, Nashville, Tennessee, 2008), p. 142. (PLEASE LOOK OUT FOR PART 2).

      DISCUSSION

Dr. David Jeremiah teaches that the church will be raptured before the Antichrist is revealed.

Will the church be raptured before the Antichrist is revealed?

The apostle Paul wrote to the Thessalonians about the rapture of the church and warned them not to be deceived.

We read, Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers, not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by some prophecy, report or letter supposed to have come from us, saying that the day of the Lord has already come. Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction (2 Thess. 2:1-3).

This scripture shows that the rapture will take place after the man of lawlessness, the Antichrist, is revealed.

The following scriptures show that the rapture will take place at the last day, at the last trumpet, at the end of the age, because that is the time when the resurrection of the dead in Christ will take place (John 6: 39-40; 1 Cor. 15: 50-54; Luke 20: 34-36).

       SCRIPTURAL CONCLUSION

The pretribulation rapture theory is false. The rapture cannot take place before the resurrection of the dead in Christ takes place at the last day  (John 6: 39-40; 1 Thess. 4: 16-17).

Dwight Pentecost. Things To Come (Grand Rapids, MI; Zondervan Publishing House, 1964), p. 538. (PLEASE LOOK OUT FOR MORE POSTINGS ON BIBLE PROPHECY).

      DISCUSSION

Dr. Pentecost teaches that the millennial age is designed by God to be the final test of fallen humanity under circumstances that are ideal. He states that man will be found to be a failure.

    Is his teaching scriptural?

Please allow the Holy Spirit to teach you from the word of God.

When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. Then the King will say to those on his right, Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world (Matt.25:31-34). ... Then he will say to those on his left, Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels (Matt.25:41). ... Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life (Matt. 25:

    46).

                             SCRIPTURAL CONCLUSION

The Scripture teaches that Jesus will judge all nations on the day of judgment (Matt. 25: 31 – 46). The righteous will go into eternal life and the unrighteous into eternal punishment. There will be no people in natural (physical) bodies to go into a millennial kingdom.

The Bible does not teach a millennial age in which man in natural bodies will be tested by God.

The teaching of Dr. Pentecost is not supported by Scripture.

Dwight Pentecost, onetime President of Dallas Theological Seminary, writing about the new Jerusalem states: This heavenly city will be brought into a relation to the earth at the beginning of the millennium, and perhaps will be made visible above the earth. It is from this heavenly city that David’s greater Son exerts His Messianic rule, in which the Bride reigns, and from which the rewarded Old Testament saints exercise their authority in government.  J. Dwight Pentecost. Things To Come (Grand Rapids, MI; Zondervan Publishing House, 1964), p. 546. (PLEASE LOOK OUT FOR # 40).

      DISCUSSION

Dr. Pentecost teaches that the heavenly city, the new Jerusalem, will be brought into a relation with the earth at the beginning of the millennium and perhaps will be visible to the earth.

    Is his teaching scriptural?

We learn from Scripture that God will create a new heaven and a new earth on the day of judgment (2 Pet. 3: 7-13; Rev. 20: 14-14). When the new heaven and the new earth are created, the heavenly city, the new Jerusalem will descend to the earth (Rev. 21: 1-3).

By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. … But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness (2 Pet. 3: 7,13).

Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. If anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God (Rev. 20: 14-15; Rev. 21: 1-3).

                                   SCRIPTURAL CONCLUSION

When the new Jerusalem descends to the earth, eternity will commence (Rev. 21: 1-3).

The Scripture does not teach that the new Jerusalem will be brought into a relation with the earth at the beginning of a millennium and descend to the earth at the end of that millennium.

The teaching of Dr. Pentecost is not supported by Scripture.

The resurrected saints of all ages in that city will be in their eternal state and possessed of their eternal blessings, even though such is not true of things down on the earth itself.  J. Dwight Pentecost. Things To Come (Grand Rapids, MI; Zondervan Publishing House, 1964), p. 579. (PLEASE LOOK OUT FOR # 39).

      DISCUSSION

Dr. Pentecost teaches that eternity will commence for some people before it commences for others. The resurrected saints of all ages in that city will be in their eternal state and possessed of their eternal blessings, even though such is not true of things down on the earth itself.

    Is his teaching scriptural?

The gospel of Matthew informs us that eternity will commence for all people at the same time.

Eternity will commence for all people at the same time, that is, on the day of judgment. The righteous will go into eternal life and the unrighteous into eternal punishment.

The teaching of Dr. Pentecost is not supported by Scripture.

(#37) Dr. J. Dwight Pentecost, onetime President of Dallas Theological Seminary, writes concerning Peter: Further, Peter states: ‘But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto judgment and perdition of ungodly men’ (2 Peter 3: 7). In this statement he seems to relate the dissolution of the present heaven and the earth to the time of the judgment and perdition of ungodly men, which we know from Revelation 20: 11-15, takes place at the great white throne judgment after the millennium.  J. Dwight Pentecost. Things To Come (Grand Rapids, MI; Zondervan Publishing House, 1964), p. 553. (PLEASE LOOK OUT FOR # 38).

      DISCUSSION

Dr. Pentecost teaches that the judgment and perdition of ungodly men will take place after the millennium at the great white throne judgment.

    Is his teaching scriptural?

The apostle Paul informs us that the judgment and perdition of ungodly men will take place when Jesus is revealed, that is, at his second coming and not after the end of the millennium.

We read, God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you (2 Thess. 1: 6-10).

                                   SCRIPTURAL CONCLUSION

The judgment and perdition of ungodly men will take place when Jesus is revealed, that is, at his second coming, and not after the end of the millennium as is taught by Dr. Pentecost and dispensational teachers.

The teaching of Dr. Pentecost is not supported by Scripture.

(#36) Dr. J. Dwight Pentecost, onetime President of Dallas Theological Seminary and well known dispensational teacher, writes: The new covenant, stated in Jeremiah 31: 31-34, takes the promises of blessing found in the original Abrahamic covenant and makes those promises the subject of enlargement. The New Testament makes it clear that this promise is to be fulfilled only by the conversion of the nation at the second advent of Christ. J. Dwight Pentecost. Things To Come (Grand Rapids, MI; Zondervan Publishing House, 1964), p. 534. (PLEASE LOOK OUT FOR # 37).

      DISCUSSION

Dr. Pentecost teaches that the nation of Israel will be converted at the second advent of Christ.

    Is his teaching scriptural?

The following Scriptures will show that the New Testament does not teach that the nation of Israel will be converted at the second advent of Christ.

The apostle Paul states concerning Israel, And if they do not persist in unbelief, they will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again (Rom. ).

Isaiah cries out concerning Israel: ‘Though the number of the Israelites be like the sand by the sea, only the remnant will be saved (Rom. ).

The prophet Zechariah writes: In the whole land, declares the Lord, ‘two-thirds will be struck down and perish; yet one-third will be left in it. This third I will bring into the fire; I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on my name and I will answer them; I will say, ‘They are my people,’ and they will say, ‘The Lord is our God’ (Zech. 13: 8-9).

                                   SCRIPTURAL CONCLUSION

A person must believe in Jesus Christ to be saved. The Scripture informs us that a remnant of Israel will be saved, not the nation.

The teaching of Dr. Pentecost is not supported by Scripture.

(#35) Dr. J. Dwight Pentecost, onetime President of Dallas Theological Seminary, writes: The New Testament makes it very clear that the new covenant is based on the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ (Heb. 8: 6; -18; Matt. 26: 28). It may, therefore, be affirmed that salvation in the millennium will be based on the value of the death of Christ and will be appropriated by faith (Heb. 11: 6) even as Abraham appropriated God’s promise and was justified (Rom. 4: 3).  J. Dwight Pentecost. Things To Come (Grand Rapids, MI; Zondervan Publishing House, 1964), p. 530. (PLEASE LOOK OUT FOR # 36).

      DISCUSSION

Dr. Pentecost teaches that salvation in the millennium will be based on the value of the death of Christ and will be appropriated by faith.

Will there be salvation after the judgment at the Second Coming?

Jesus said, And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come (Matt. 24: 14).

When the end comes, Jesus will judge the world and eternity will commence (Matt. 25: 46).

                                   SCRIPTURAL CONCLUSION

There will be no need for salvation after Jesus judges the world.

(#34) Dr. J. Dwight Pentecost, onetime President of Dallas Theological Seminary, writes: The sacrificial system is not a reinstituted Judaism, but the establishment of a new order that has as its purpose the remembrance of the work of Christ on which all salvation rests. The literal fulfillment of Ezekiel’s  prophecy will be the means of God’s  glorification and man’s blessing in the millennium. J. Dwight Pentecost. Things To Come (Grand Rapids, MI; Zondervan Publishing House, 1964), p. 531.(PLEASE LOOK OUT FOR # 35).

                                                 DISCUSSION

Dr. Pentecost teaches that animal sacrifices will be offered up during the millennium.  He regards the animal sacrifices as commemorative of what Jesus accomplished by his death and resurrection. The sacrifices will not be for the purpose of obtaining salvation.

    Is his teaching scriptural?

Here are two questions for Dr. Pentecost and dispensational premillennialists.

    1) Why will there be a commemoration of what Jesus accomplished by his death and resurrection when Jesus will be present in all his glory and majesty (Rev.11:15)?

    2) Why don’t we have animal sacrifices now to commemorate what Jesus accomplished?

We celebrate communion (the Eucharist) to commemorate what Jesus accomplished. When Jesus dwells with us there will be no need for commemoration by means of animal sacrifice. That time will be for worship and praise and thanksgiving.

The temple and its activities have no place in the Church of Jesus Christ (Eph. 3: 6). This was made absolutely clear when Jesus gave up his spirit. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom (Matt.27: 51). The inner sanctuary, the

    Most Holy Place
was exposed, thus signifying that there was no longer the need for an earthly high priest.

We read, When Christ came as high priest of the good things that are already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not man-made, that is to say, not a part of this creation. He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves, but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption (Heb.9: 11-12).

            SCRIPTURAL CONCLUSION

On the day of judgment, the righteous will go into eternal life in the kingdom of God and the unrighteous into eternal punishment in the eternal fire. (Matt. 25: 31-46).

God will dwell with the righteous in the new Jerusalem (Rev. 21: 1-4). The only sacrifice in the kingdom of God will be a praise sacrifice. There will be no temple for animal sacrifice.

I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple (Rev. 21: 22).

Is the teaching of Dr. Pentecost scriptural?

(#32) Dr. J. Dwight Pentecost, onetime President of Dallas Theological Seminary, writes :  After the dissolution of the present heaven and earth at the end of the millennium, God will create a new heaven and a new earth (Isa. 65: 17; 66: 22; 2 Pet. ; Rev. 21: 1). Things to Come, (Zondervan Publishing House, Grand Rapids, MI; 1964), p. 561. (PLEASE LOOK OUT FOR # 33).

                                             DISCUSSION

Dr. Pentecost teaches that God will create a new heaven and a new earth  at the end of the millennium.

    Is his teaching scriptural?

We learn from Scripture that God will create a new heaven and a new earth on the day of judgment. The day of judgment will not be after the millennium but when Jesus appears, at the end of this age.

In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, … (2 Tim. 4: 1).

By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. … But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness (2 Pet. 3: 7, 13).

The day of judgment and the destruction of ungodly men will take place not at the end of the millennium but when Jesus is revealed. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction … (2 Thess. 1: 7-9).

                              SCRIPTURAL CONCLUSION

God will create a new heaven and a new earth when Jesus judges the world at  his second coming and not at the end of a millennium.

The teaching of Dr. Pentecost is not supported by Scripture.

    (#31) Dr. J. Dwight Pentecost, onetime President of Dallas Theological Seminary, writes concerning the millennium: The theocratic kingdom will be a holy kingdom, in which holiness is manifested through the King and the King’s subjects. The land will be holy, the city holy, the temple holy, and the subjects holy unto the Lord (Isa. 1: 26-27; 4: 3-4; 29: 18-23; 31: 6-7; 35: 8-9; 52: 1; 60: 21; 61: 10; Jer. 31: 23; Ezek. 36: 2431; 37: 23-24; 43: 7-12; 45: 1; Joel 3: 21; Zeph. 3: 11, 13; Zech. 8: 3; 13: 1-2; 14: 20-21). Things to Come, (Zondervan Publishing House, Grand Rapids, MI; 1964), p. 488. (PLEASE LOOK OUT FOR # 32).

Dr. Pentecost teaches that those born in the millennial age will be born with a sin nature. He writes: The earth’s population will soar. These born in the age will not be born without a sin nature, so salvation will be required (Jer. 30: 21; 31: 29; Ezek. 47: 22; Zech. 10: 8) page. 489.

    Is his teaching scriptural?

    Do you observe the problem?

How could everything in that age be holy if children will be born with a sin nature and salvation will be required?

I believe that the Old Testament scriptures that are used to teach a millennial kingdom are not literal in meaning.

                             SCRIPTURAL CONCLUSION

There are many New Testament scriptures which teach that eternity will commence on the day of judgment, at the second coming of Jesus (Matt. 13: 36-43, 49-50; 25: 31-46; 2 Pet. 3: 7-13).

What is seen as a millennial kingdom could be life in the New Jerusalem (Rev. 21: 1-4).

The teaching of Dr. Pentecost is not supported by Scripture.

WILL THERE BE A MILLENNIUM AFTER THE DAY OF JUDGMENT AT THE SECONDCOMING?

Many authors, denominations and Bible Colleges teach a millennial kingdom following the judgment at the Second Coming in which people will have children and carry out the routines of life in which we are engaged at the present time.

If all believers, dead and living, put on immortality at the appearing of Jesus, at the last day, at the last trumpet, at the end of the age (John 6: 39 – 40; 1 Cor. 15: 50-54; Luke 20: 34 – 36; Phil. 3: 20 – 21; 1 Thess. 4: 16 - 17) and all unbelievers are punished with everlasting destruction (2 Thess. 1: 6-10), from where will people come in natural (physical) bodies to go into a millennium and have children?

Some teach that after the Day of Judgment the earth will be desolate for a thousand years. But the Scripture teaches that this present heaven and earth will be burned up on the Day of Judgment and God will create a new heaven and a new earth (2 Peter 3: 7-13).

The doctrine of a millennium after the judgment at the Second Coming is not supported by Scripture.

(#30) Dr. J. Dwight Pentecost, onetime President of Dallas Theological Seminary and well known dispensational teacher, writes: The living saints who go into the millennium in their natural bodies will beget children throughout the age. Things to Come, Zondervan Publishing House, Grand Rapids, MI; 1964), p. 489. (PLEASE LOOK OUT FOR # 31).

    DISCUSSION

Dr. Pentecost teaches that saints in natural bodies will go into a millennial kingdom after the judgment at the second coming and they will have children throughout the age.

    Is his teaching scriptural?

What information do we have about the saints at the coming of Jesus?

The apostle Paul wrote, I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed  (1 Cor. -52).

Where will saints in natural bodies come from if all the saints, dead and living, put on immortality at the last trumpet (1 Cor. 15: 52; Phil. 3: 20-21)?

It should be pointed out that all unbelievers will be punished with everlasting destruction when Jesus is revealed (2 Thess. 1: 6-10).

                  SCRIPTURAL CONCLUSION

There will be no saints in natural bodies after the judgment at the second coming of Jesus.

The teaching of Dr. Pentecost is not supported by Scripture.

(#29) Dr. J. Dwight Pentecost, onetime President of Dallas Theological Seminary, writes: It is taught in Scripture that the kingdom over which Christ is to rule between the first and the second resurrection is of one thousand years duration (Rev. 20: 1-6). Things to Come, (Zondervan Publishing House, Grand Rapids, MI; 1964), p. 490. (PLEASE LOOK OUT FOR # 30).

      DISCUSSION

Using Revelation 20: 1-6, Dr. Pentecost teaches that there will be two bodily resurrections, one at the commencement of the thousand years and the other at the end of the thousand years.

Do the Scriptures teach more than one bodily resurrection?

Is the language of Revelation 20 purely literal or is it made up of both literal and symbolic language?

The following Scriptures will show what the prophet Daniel, and the apostles John and Paul wrote under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

The Scriptures will be taken from the Authorized King James Version and the New International Version.

And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt (Dan. 12: 2, AKJV).

Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake; some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt (Dan. 12: 2, NIV).

Marvel not at this; for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation (John 5: 28-29, AKJV).

Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and come out – those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned (John 5: 28-29, NIV).

And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust (Acts 24: 15, AKJV).

… and I have the same hope in God as these men, that there will be a resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked (Acts 24: 15; NIV).

                                     SCRIPTURAL CONCLUSION

The preceding Scriptures show beyond a reasonable doubt that there will be only one bodily resurrection involving both the righteous and the unrighteous.

In view of Biblical information of one day of judgment for the whole world (Acts 17: 31; 2 Tim. 4: 1) and one future bodily resurrection of all the dead, righteous and unrighteous (Daniel 12: 2; John -29; Acts 24: 15), we conclude that the language of Revelation 20 is not purely literal. The thousand years (Rev. 20: 1-7) are symbolic and cover an extended period of time. They are in progress now.

The first resurrection (Rev. 20: 5) is a spiritual resurrection and includes all born again believers (John ). Dead believers are with Christ (Phil. ) and living believers are raised with Christ (Col. 3: 1, 3).

Christ is now reigning (1 Cor. ) and dead and living believers are reigning with Him.

The thousand years began when Jesus ascended to heaven and they will end at his second coming when he will judge the living and the dead (2 Tim. 4: 1). At that time, he will destroy death, the last enemy (1 Cor. ).

The teaching of Dr. Pentecost is not supported by Scripture.
