Funny, I thought it was just my relatives! :)

I'm really amazed too how some people think only about themselves. Have you noticed that they also throw a big fit if you don't give them exactly what they want all the time? They're like spoiled children really. You could have sent them flowers, big beautiful roses, but they wanted daffodils instead so it didn't count (You should have found out first). Its crazy really.

How do you treat children who throw a fit and don't get their way? Do you just give them everything they want? No, that would only encourage more of the same. They think,'I got what I wanted last time doing it this way so I'll try it again.'

As Christians we are not only to help people by serving but we can also encourage them to be better, more healthy people. They need to learn to ask for what they want, not demand it. They also need to learn how to graciously accept 'no' for an answer and respect other people's needs and boundaries.

They're really always miserable underneath because people don't get happiness by "getting" everything they want, but by knowing Jesus and helping others to be happy.

Happily, not everyone is like this. We need to have personal boundaries and take care of ourselves too. We have to strive to keep an upward mindset and spend time with healthy individuals as well. Its just as hard to keep your mind off the trouble makers as it is to ignore a screaming child. We have to take our thoughts captive to Christ. Priorities have to be kept straight too.

Yes, people do seem more self-centered than ever, but we still need to maintain our godly conduct in spite of those around us. I guess that's the challenge, not sinking to the new cultural norm of selfishness, but continue to shine the light in a dark and messed up world.

I have always said that some people would complain if you hung them with a new rope, honestly most people just leave me shaking my head in disbelief, while saying a prayer under my breath.
