I think it is really helpful for us to remember that, for God to take away these worldly desires will probably involve some pain. We wouldn't ask a dentist to take out a bad tooth without expecting it to hurt, but we often pray for deliverance, then complain when a trial, or humbling comes to do the job.
Last night two of our kids lead a worship session that included clips from The Passion of the Christ. How can we object to some pain when we are reminded of what He went through?

Good post. I wrote a devotional this week on 1 Peter 3:11, it is such a good action passage reminding us that we must continue to turn, do, seek, pursue!
