End of Romans 7: "For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: ..." I hate this opposing it.

I don't think I am opposing it, brother Ellingsen. I may have to lengthen it to be sure that point is well taken and answered, though. Bro Larry, it interests me. That it might interest anyone else leads me to hope that it will spark ferverent discussion.

    In Christ,

Hi Mel, enjoyed your scriptures. Don't know where you are going, but as Bro. Larry's says, we shall see. So keep on keeping on!

It all seems ever so clear. One of the biggest foes to the faith is self. It is condemning, it is unforgiving, it certainly does not forget. When I fall into the grip of the flesh, I am left feeling beaten and useless to my King. Yet, as we read about all of these guys and their huge mistakes, sins, or wavering faith, I find myself. And just as they remained perfect and fit to be used of God, so I remain. It isn't about the person and their downfalls or attributes. It is only about Christ in them. I once heard it said that God doesn't call the perfect but perfects the called.(something like that)
We are responsible to keep the law of God that's written on our hearts but by the blood of Christ, we are not bound to the punishment.
Don't know if this was the content of your message but this is what I take from it and it is a great and timely reminder.

    Hi Mel -

when posted my comment, you were missing half the stuff you have now hence me saying that I need to read the rest. This is a really interesting piece of work here and I am enjoying it.

Hi, Mel! I think your last paragraph says it all. In a way it is all about us -- about us surrendering our selves to God (and yes, that space between "our" and "selves" is intentional), letting Him crucify what doesn't glorify Him, and then letting Him work in and through us to empower and equip us to do what He called us to do.

I don't know about you, but I'm really glad God inspired the Bible's writers to include the sins and shortcomings of its characters in their accounts. It gives us hope that we too can, through God, become more than conquerors of our own fleshly natures and do great things for God. Thanks for posting another thought-provoking entry.

    God bless and Merry Christmas!
