Hi Ross,
When you seriously study theology, one of the first things you look at is to whom the letter / book is written. Bearing this in mind we can see where it differs from the other letters & Gospels in that it talks personally about O.T. individuals, Abraham, Moses, Melchizedek, etc. Because the writer accepted that they would be readily understood by the readers. It is a wonderful book about people who knew God, but had difficulty accepting that Messiah had come! for all the reasons we know. Not as a political King on a white charger, but as a humble servant on a colt of a donkey.
Read in this way, it might begin to make sense & add to your already growing knowledge. Almost like Romans for the early Christian, Hebrews for the Hebrews.
