I hate to see those who truly desire to live a life pleasing to God suffer so much over their failures while some who claim to be godly, live like children of the devil with no problem of conscience.
It's not those who keep short accounts with God who should suffer. Why are we so slow sometimes to accept the forgiveness that God so freely offers? Maybe it's because we really care. That's a good thing, but we can't let our failures break us, get us down, and defeat us. We must not give up...but get up and keep walking... learning from our failures and realizing that nobody is perfect.

"Learning from our failures" Jeanette hit the nail on the button. I know exactly how you feel, but when I can stop beating myself up and learn from my mistakes, I take an enormous leap forward. Not easy to do, but I think (for me at least) God expects it. God wants disciples to learn and move on. Since we can't change the past, we may as well not beat ourselves up too much over it. Don't give satan a foothold.
Be strong and know that you are destined for great things within His kingdom.

God bless you William, as you know we all have faults and failures, and come short of the things our Lord has planned for us...At times we have to examine ourselves and run our life line back...Just to see where our Lord has brought us from. God knows all about us!
As the saying goes, I'm not where I need to be, Thank God I'm not where I used to be, I'm ok, and I'm on my way......

Its amazing to me to read Peter's epistles and remember that this is the same guy from the gospels. He learned a lot over the years. I can just see him, like us, looking at his old self and shaking his head.
