The totality of God's work in a redeemed life does indeed stand out as the greatest testimony that one could share. Yet, the very same testimony shared with a brother or sister in Christ may well be the thing that would cause them to turn away. A sinner is often glad to know that someone else from the gutter found grace, peace and salvation. A brother or sister in Christ is glad to never forget your past and never let you forget it either.
I am now called a minister of the Gospel of Christ, but my former stigma still remains to be the thing that sticks most in my bretheren's thoughts. I know that there are those that cannot get past thinking that I have no business preaching the Word.
Thing is, will the "church" accept me no matter what my past might be? Will the "church" let me tell others of this great treasure I've found? Can I share the beauty of Christ without the "church" sharing my ugly past?
Let us pray for the Body of Christ, that we may love and accept forgiveness of others as we accept forgiveness for ourselves.
