    Deuteronomy 24:1-4 (NIV)

1 If a man marries a woman who becomes displeasing to him because he finds something indecent about her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce, gives it to her and sends her from his house, 2 and if after she leaves his house she becomes the wife of another man, 3 and her second husband dislikes her and writes her a certificate of divorce, gives it to her and sends her from his house, or if he dies, 4 then her first husband, who divorced her, is not allowed to marry her again after she has been defiled. That would be detestable in the eyes of the LORD. Do not bring sin upon the land the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance.

You wrote in your closing paragraph... "The problem with Christianity today is not a lack of socialization as it is a basic failure to stand for truth. If anything, failure to make defense of the faith the priority of the day will make this renewed emphasis upon the group a far more dangerous threat to ordered liberty as well as sound doctrine."

Seems to me the issue of WHERE one gets this teaching is secondary to WHAT teaching someone gets. Do you want your congregation listening to every thing that is broadcast over television or on the internet or read in books that are best sellers and on the movie screen?

One of the reasons that I believe Jesus gave His life for the church... both local and universal is so that people who KNOW one another will be witness to one another and build one another up and strengthen and encourage one another.

You and I can engage in theological discussions over this medium and never come to know one other's heart nor even the other's motives... plus it is so easy to miss the point altogether in reading what someone writes but it is a lot easier to come to understand what someone really means when they are face to face with them.

I am of the firm opinion that these types of mediums are for secondary means of encoragement and support... and are probably not for the more immature Christian... who will not know who he or she is by the way...

Too much information can be overwhelming and the more information that people have an argument can be made that the more confused most people become. IN the local church setting, this problem is more easily avoided and roes of authority are more readily established... they may not be the best... but they are more defined all the more.

Just because someone says it on the internet does not make it any more authoritative than what is said behind the pulpit at the local church or from the mega church media center.

What we say is always going to be more important that where we say it. Since you and I are the messenger and we take issue at others who teach things that are different from us, the only way to help shephard our sheep is to encourage them to come and listen to what the Lord has given us to share.

That is why the preachers will continue to preach "come and listen".

    Thanks for your post.

I agree with Bob,but we too are under the same principals that we try to teach. We should make sure we constantly monitor our own beliefs to keep them in accordance with Jesus` teachings.
Sometimes we are better off saying nothing at all.
    Blessyou
