I find it disheartning that as churches seem to be leaning more and more liberal, it seems more people today accept Christ as their savior, but oddly don,t really claim him as Lord because they are still the lord of their life. Maybe that has alot to do with the lack of fear. You know if you have a personal savior that is there mainly to give you a pass for your failings and requires nothing else from you, isn't that a nice idea? Claim Him and you never have to look that way again. No obedience, or disipline required. He just loves you forever because you called out His name once. I think you might find the answer to your question if you investigate that some. I also think some might end up hearing the Lord one day say I never knew you
    Be blessed

I think I understood you in the first post, but love the explanation in this one as well.

I have found that many back home believed that, God forgives us so it doesn't matter how much we sin; When it comes to demons and satan himself, we are led to believe that we are saved and we are all set (by many churches). Many don't read the true Words of the Bible, which tell us that, more goes with being saved than just saying that You accept Jesus is the son of God. I am happy that I have a church that truly explores scripture and has sermons that explain things more in depth. Back home, that was very rare and you always left with a false sense of, "I went to church on Sunday. I am all set for the week". We were never told that WE are the church and we are required to be that church, 24/7. Am I saying this right?

    God Bless,
    Kelly

Hi Happy Lord's day, the scriptures tell us that perfect love casts out all fear, that is where we should all start. As for Churches, they are the people, not the buildings, as in the N.T. most never had buildings, Synagogues yes, but not 'Ecclesia', that is the people.
If we love our neighbour, how can we be adultrous with his wife? If we love our neighbour how can we take his belongings?
If we love our neighbour, how can we say things against him which are not true?
I find that any "Church" can have faults, but I can never be part of the perfect church as I would make it imperfect! So we all worship as we se fit according to God's ways. Which the Psalmist tells us are perfect. Ps. 18:30. Not only that he makes "My way perfect" Ps. 18:32
We worship in unity of diversity, the minutae not mattering one jot or tittle. Praise God in the beauty of His holiness.
    Have a great Lord's Day.
    Love in His name Stuart

I agreed with you in both posts.
I think a "fear" of God is an essential part of knowing Him. "The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom" Ps.110:10 KJV
I read an illustation. You can stand on the edge of the Grand Canyon and feel this kind of fear. You are not afraid it will suck you down or anything, you just feel its depth.

Personally,I fear God ,because he can destroy my soul. But it`s a healthy fear that ,like Ross said, keeps me obedient.
    Ecclesiastes chapter12-verse 13:
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter:Fear GOD ,and keep His commandments; for this is the whole duty of man.
