Great Post. I think I am going to have to let Monte hear about this one!

These things are true, even beyond what you are saying here. The consequences of the shadow of this reality carries foward into eternity. You have shed some light on that series of verses that Paul ends in saying:

13I can do everything [all things] through him who gives me strength. (Phil 4:13 NIV)

But do we hold to the words of Christ when he said:

36But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. (Matt 12:36 NIV)

    -------------------------------------------------

As another aside, I have noticed that although people commonly take the Lord's name in vain (by using it as in a curse instead of calling on it for a blessing) they do not do the same with the Holy Spirit. It makes me wonder that if deep down, even the unbelievers understand this verse:

30"He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters. 31And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. 32Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.

33"Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit. 34You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks.(Matt 12:30-34 NIV)

    Just an interesting thought...

    In Truth,

Hello Mel. Thank You so much for Your comments. I think it is a real interesting thought about people not using the name of the Holy Spirit as a curse word....hmmmm... makes one think.

Yes, this is the tough one - giving account for each word we speak! Ohhh....

Thank You & many blessings to You,

Hi Eve . Very interesting post. I do believe God protects those who trust and believe in Him.I also believe that God is an all forgiving God. Except for blasphemy against the holy spirit there is no unforgivable sin.
    Gods Love.

Thank You, bro Larry for Your comment. I too believe that we have an all forgiving God :-)... and yes, He does protect those who put their trust and faith in Him and Him alone! He then becomes our shield and our protection everywhere and at all times :-)

    Many, many blessings to You,

    Hi Eve,
I really enjoyed reading your post.
You had a lot of good info to share with us.
I am surprised at how offended I become now when people around me are swearing. I actually asked my boss this past week to stop using Jesus' name in vain. He quickly apologized and left my office shamefaced.
I also believe that you MUST stay in the Word of God to protect yourself from the lies of the enemy and to keep yourself ready to stop the fiery darts of evil.
As a face is reflected in water, so a man's words reflect his heart.
    Thanks for sharing.
God's abundant blessings on you! hugsml
