It is very likely something a preacher should consider, as well. His congregation can take his paycheck away, but not his commission. He must give that up himself. ('or herself' -- my possibly antiquated views do not make anything so, and I can take no authority away by refusing to recognize it...)
BTW, we are all preachers/priests/responsible so don't get too crazy swinging this big stick I am giving to you...
In Truth,

Hi Mel,
A great post, a big mouth full, for a lot of people to swallow. But we know that God sets kings on the throne and He removes them. Some folks will agree with anything, they are tossed to and frow, just follow what other people think is right, don't use the mind God gave them.
In the book of 2Timothy 1:12 -- For the which cause I also suffer the things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. (That he is able to keep, refers to the assurance of salvation which is committed...against that day) when we stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
Many blessing now and always.
With God's Love,
Lois J.
