That's really a lot of stuff you are asking. And in a away it's the same question every Christian asks. Maybe here is a good place to start:

Chances are there are many more passionate Christians in the pews than you can see. They aren't exactly easy to spot from a distance. The problem is most people aren't very good at reaching out to strangers. Its hard to say not knowing your church, but there may be a group that you could join that would help in many ways. Most churches, especially bigger ones, have small Bible studies during the week that you could join. You could meet some of these passionate people, you could study the Bible with others, which should show you how to apply the stuff you read, which would help explain what God is all about.

There is other stuff; great books on how to apply stuff, recorded sermons that won't put you to sleep on Itunes for free, reading some of the good blogs here... Let me know what you think. I'll check back here soon.

My favorite guy on itunes is North Point Community Church with Andy Stanley. He's easy to listen to and very practical.
One thing else about what you wrote. Don't expect, or even hope for, an easy 1,2,3 list of what to do. Being a Christian is simply having a relationship with Jesus. Its like being in love. How does someone in love act? Not by a 1,2 3 list.

    Hi Cindy,
regarding your last comment that you don't have a clue as to what being in love is even like... Being in love is thinking more of the other person than you do yourself... that's what Jesus did for us when He died on the cross for each one of us and took our sins upon Himself. Loving children, family, friends is "being in love" when you think of them before you think of yourself... I've found that when I do that in my own life, without even looking for them the Lord sends blessings back into my own life!

regarding reading your Bible: I would suggest beginning in the book of John. Try reading ONE paragraph at a time, over and over again several times. Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to help you understand what you are reading. Then go to the next paragraph, or even the next sentence. Don't try and rush through it. Make it a daily habit, and you will find the Lord will be pleased to meet with you and lead you into all Truth.

God be with you as you begin a journey of faith and trust in our Saviour! and I pray He will also lead you to a church family. Please remember: no one is perfect. Don't look at other Christians; keep your eyes focused on Jesus the Christ only and you will grow to be more like Him.

    In His love,
