Men of vision suffer. They suffer for others. I am curious. What precipitates this particular post?

I was talking wiyh my daughter about MLKjr and she said they had recited His I have a dream speech so I looked it up read it and realized I was not all that familiar with most of it other than the end so figured I would put it out for others to see. his vision was something that moved me

I think about what Rev. king did, said and how he acted and I have nothing but respect and admiration for the man Then I look and Jesse Jackson a supposed black leader who was with Rev King and I wonder what happened becayse what Rev King stood for is nowhere to be found in Jackson and the christian basics are missing, replaced with a love for money and no inclination of Christ whatso ever It is sad to see what he has done with that legacy

    Morning Brother,
If we wish to share in Christ's Glory, then we must share in his suffering:
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs IS the Kingdom of Heaven.
Blessed are those who hunger & thirst for righteousness for they WILL be filled.
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of their righteousness for theirs IS the kingdom of heaven.
Our Saviour Jesus knew all about suffering, that is why he can relate & identify with us all.
Has the vision of this Godly man, Martin Luther King, started to materialise in the Southern States? Has our God brought about change?
Patience friends, God in his omniscience sees & understands all things. Daniel dared to stand alone & look what happened to the exiled people, they repented & were restored, whilst singing by "The rivers of Babylon"
God wants no one to perish, but all to be saved.
Tell the people about this God who so loved the world that he did not spare his own Son.
Remember when we think of the oppressors in our world to pray for their souls, that coals might be heaped on their heads. That our God can & will change their hearts to love their neighbours as themselves.
Take heart, He Lives, that we also might live.

I can't honestly answer that question about if it has changed in the southern states, but I don't think it was just there although being white I'm not really able to say for sure. I just know that I believe Dr. King was a good man who's heart was in the right place and know he did good things to bring about change and that I respect maybe if someone is better qualified to answer the question I would appreciate a response to it also
    God bless

Thanks,Ross! I'm really glad too see this post.I never knew the entire speech either. Here is my opinion on the matter, for what it's worth. I was never raised to be racist. But I was raised to believe that the races should not mix. In our country, there has been a serious rise in inter-racial marriages and relationships, producing many bi-racial children. Many would still stand vehemently against this and even use the Bible as the basis for why this is wrong. I, myself, would probably have stood with them until it hit home. I have a two beautiful bi-racial kids in my family and I couldn't love them any more. Is there the possibility that because we could not destroy racial barriers on our own, that God stepped in to help us? When our mindset is abruptly changed due to circumstances, is it perhaps the hand of God laid upon our eyes that we might see?

It is my thought that the government adds to the racial barrier with programs like affirmative action. If the politicians would let us make our own values and become educated about them we would be much better off. government programs divide and cause dissention. Happy united masses would be a problem for them because we would not need their programs which cause us to be dependent on them and place God second, more or less creating a God out of government and more or less that is wrong. Education is the key and the Bible is the primary textbook we need to focus on. Look what happened at the tower of Babble when we worked together united as one. Even God seperated us. Division is key to government intervention and they know it so the important thing to them is we remain divided and seperated from God
    Be blessed

Ross, that last 'Education is the key and the Bible is the primary textbook we need' is so very much in line with my understanding.

I don't want to politicize your blog, so I'll take further comment elsewhere...

Yes education is the answer, I agree wholwheartedly, we have problems in similar areas with Roman Catholics & Protestants in Northern Ireland. I cannot understand the behaviour of one set of Christians to another set of Christians. Uneducated people see Catholics as the anti-Christ & have preached hatred for centuries. God's AGAPE all giving love must be the answer.
Thats my prayer for division in the Church of which Jesus Christ is the Head.
