The worldly view of God, may be of an old man with a long flowing beard, sitting down beaming on everybody. like a latter day santa claus.
It really is good to be reminded of our omnipotent God who controls everything in the the universe. Whom we forget at our peril.
Likewise Jesus who is seen as a little child, being brought gifts by wise men. This same Jesus warns that if our right hand offends us, cut it off. Thank you Ross for these timely reminders.

Stuart I wish I had your ability to convey my thoughts in such a clear and concise manner. Never stop teaching okay. I think about what God is and feel that if we focus to much on one aspect of God we do Him an injustice as well as those hearing. So many want to focus on God is love. Yes He is but He is also holy, just and righteous and if we forget to mention that part people don't understand why He doesn't just say I love you come to me. on the other hand those that throw helfire and brimstone don't mention the love just the distructive force which God can be. Is there a medium that truly allows us to convey who God is or does everyone eventually end up on one side of the fence or the other?

For some unknown reason, I missed this post. I know of people who were "saved" out of night clubs by putting the "fear" of God in them. The fear that they would go to hell if they did not turn from their ways. Surprise surprise, they backslide on a regular basis. A think a good way to minister with lasting results is to put God all together, shake it up and present Him as the all rounder He is.
We need to know how much He hates sin and what awaits the sinner, but we need to know that He loves us so much that He provided that bridging gap for us by sending His Son. We need to know that we will be punished for our sin, but we need to know that there is a way out through His forgiveness. We need to teach the "bad", but we need to give the solution to all our problems.

Teach only love nd we will die in our sin, teach only the wrath and we die not only in our sin, but in regret as well. My advice to myself today would be, teach about the consequences of sin, but teach with the love of Christ.

    God Bless

Before I can preach love, mercy, and grace, I must preach sin, Law, and judgment. - JOHN WESLEY

John Wesley told his evangelist trainees that when they preached, people should either get angry or get converted. No doubt, he wasn’t speaking about the “Jesus loves you” gospel, but about sin, Law, righteousness, judgment, and hell
