I think anyone that tried to tell you God didn't use dreams to speak to us,or any other method he might choose would be mistaken. How he speaks to us is not whats important,but how we respond is critical
Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there you remember that your brother has something against you, leave yourr gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift. Matt 5:23-24 (NIV)
WE must love one another before we can truly love God
His peace be with you

Thank you for sharing your dream. The Lord has given me quite a few in 56 years. :) And I believe He often uses them to teach us.
Another thing, though, I've seen that sometimes our own thoughts towards Him can be reflected in the dream. For example, when I was younger in the Lord, I had a dream that He was sitting down and holding His foot. He had a sore toe and it was hurting Him and He was wincing in pain.
When I woke up this dream bothered me until the Lord showed me that that was how I saw Him. A weak Lord with a sore toe. It was then that I began to learn that verse, "With God ALL things are possible." including Him saving me, as Paul said, "to the uttermost". Heb. 7:25
He was showing you a side of your nature that you were having a difficulty seeing. The quarrelling nature. We all have something, usually several somethings, to overcome our entire life long, but He uses those things to keep us close to Him.
So I hope you don't feel like a hopeless case, dear. Everything is going to work out. He won't give up on you, "All that the Father giveth me shall come to me and he that comes to me I will not cast out for any reason." (John 6:37)

Just for fun I Googled "Quarles". Here's one that came up. He was a poet.
Francis Quarles
The Authour's Dreame
MY sinnes are like the haires upon my head,
And raise their Audit to as high a score:
In this they differ: these doe dayly shed;
But ah ! my sinnes grow dayly more and more.
If by my haires thou number out my sinnes;
Heaven make me bald before the day begins.
My sinnes are like the sands upon the shore;
Which every ebbe layes open to the eye:
In this they differ: These are cover'd o'er
With every tide, My sinnes still open lye.
If thou wilt make my head a sea of teares,
O they will hide the sinnes of all my yeares.
My sinnes are like the Starres within the skies,
In view, in number, even as bright as great:
In this they differ: these doe set and rise;
But ah ! my sinnes doe rise, but never set.
Shine Son of glory, and my sinnes are gone
Like twinkling Starres before the rising Sunne.
Argalus and Parthenia, 1629, and Divine Fancies, 1632

That dream poem found under the author, Quarles, is kind of weird. I wonder if the message was for me? Well, it could apply to me as well as the quarrels. Thanks!

I too have had dreams in which God has told me the answer toprayers, I joke that its the only time I am quiet enough to listen! I think thats probably true.
Your dream & your interpretation is probably true, the Spirit who helps us in our weekness, prays in groanings on our behalf. see Rom 8:26ff
Praise God that he points us all in the right direction if we but let him. Ross is correct in his advice to us all.

I believe that God can and does deal with us in dreams. I have had a few over the years. Nothing like what you experienced. I started to take notice when I had dreams about my husband and issues we were having before we had them. Just random ones that tell me to prepare for something coming up. Bless you.
