You prech it dude! I couldn't agree with you more! I stopped watching the TBN channel for various reasons - money the first thing, and secondly when they claim that God told them this and that and the next thing. Don't get me wrong, I believe there are those that are prophets and have a message to tell, but come on, let's get real. If you have the spirit of God in you, you know when they are talking hogwash! I just can't believe that some are stupid enough to think that they can fool all of us. Most are so self opinionated that I wonder if they realise that they should be washing feet!
There are the good few around which I would listen to, but we all need to use discernment.
Now look what you did Ross - you got me ranting and raving. ;O(

PS - I ask R500.00 for my prayer rags. Want one?

    ha ha ha

I wonder what God will have to say to people selling prayer rags on Judgement Day?

TCT Ministries goes into (All the World) preaching the "Gospel of Jesus"!
People that have never heard the "Gospel"
can hear it now thanks to "Christian Television" TCT!

Ross, just one question: Is a 'jesture' the way a jester moves about when he is trying to make you laugh?

On the serious side: I agree that you cannot buy your way to heaven, but some may not give in that way. Let's not be too judgemental. Remember what Christ told his disciples when they found others casting out Demons in His name? I think if they get the word out, it is perfectly alright for them to accept payment. I also think that greed could also be their own undoing.

    Discernment. Not Judgement.

Mel I am not trying to be judgemental, but let people know that they can't buy their way to heaven and those who offer salvation through lining their pockets are not truly serving God. They are serving the almighty dollar. My take on what Jesus said was is okay to do things in my name which will glorify me, but I don't believe that is licence for con artists to take money from people to enrich their own well being on this earth. This is not where the treasures should be stored and if it costs to get a prayer from someone that is wrong.
God bless and I understand if you disagree .
I wish I had their ability to reach the masses and do God's work

I also enjoyed this entry, Ross.

I've almost quit watching our "so-called" Christian TV stations due to the much publicized "prayer rag" type of preaching. I have no time for it. I will only watch when I'm familiar with the program and that they don't do this type of preaching.

We don't need "prayer rags" or other items to touch and look at to follow the Master.

    John 10:3
"...and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out."

    John 10:4
"... and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice."

    John 10:27
"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:"

Ross, perhaps it was just because you were being too general. I know you can't buy your way to heaven. I think telling others that is correct. However, some televangelists are attempting to do God's work. If they start lining their pockets, that is bad, but the message is still valid. There are possibly people where this is all they have because they are soooo remote and isolated. If they give to keep it on the air, I am fine with that. If they give because they believe that that is where their tithe should go, I am fine with that as well. If they are giving to buy a ticket to the big game in the sky, they have been conned, and there what you are saying holds true in all aspects. What I am trying to say is that the individual motivation of the giver is all we should feel free to warn about in a general way. If a specific program is wrong, we should confront them as our brothers and sisters or as unbelieving charlatans, I don't care which. There is scripture to cover this. If a specific program is saying pay to play in heaven, warning about that specific teaching from that specific program is fair. I just think we are being too general, that is all...

Hey, it got me to think about it, so it must have been a good subject to post about!!!

    God Bless us all,

Mel, I like your comment on this subject. I think you explained it really well! There are
alot of people hearing the gospel for the first
time on christian t.v., and accepting Jesus as
their Lord and Savior. Souls won for Jesus!
I only partner with one christian network TCT.
No one can buy their way to "Heaven", no not one!
Ross, they call it a "Prayer Cloth" not "Prayer Rag". I have never bought one, no not one! Nor, do I intend to!.I don't want yours! (smile)
Jesus, didn't have to ask for money to keep a television station going. Or, to buy anything!
He said go into all the world and preach the Gospel. Can you or I go into all the world to preach the gospel? Except through internet or tv,radio? I can partner with people who can .
    God's Blessings,

God bless and may His word be spread through any means possible
