Yes, Eve, that is an attitude I struggle to attain. If I do something, I don't want to do it as a "paid laborer" for I value what the greatest of us can do for God as being very little. He really has not any need of our service. When he asks us to do something, it is not to 'get the job done', rather it is for some other good for us ourselves that he asks it.
I thought also of this passage, though for those who are stuck, like me, occassionally in that "day laborer" mentality:
10For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand [anywhere else]; I would rather be a doorkeeper and stand at the threshold in the house of my God than to dwell [at ease] in the tents of wickedness.
Psalm 84:10 (AMP)
So if you think like a "day laborer" and hang your head because your thinking needs improvement, remember that you are better off in his service as a doorkeeper than those completely outside His Grace...

A very interesting post Eve and I can understand it. It is just that the words of a song are going through my head...Let us labour for the Master til the setting of the sun. Certainly plenty of food for thought in your post Eve. God bless

Hei, Colin, yes, I do understand what You are saying... a food for thought... I beliee we need to find the right balance... be the children of God and act as such... and out of this love for our Father, the right deeds will pour :-)
