Maybe more accurately, those who were satisfied with their ways and did not want to repent were more likely to reject his teaching. That is key to understanding what Jesus talking about the rich making it to heaven. The rich young man only had to give up his comfort, but would not.
Remember what John said about bringing forth Fruits of Repentance? That holds even for us to this day. What are your fruits? If you have none, repent truly and you will have them.
