    Light of the world

    “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. ” - Matthew 5:14,16

    The New Creation

    "11 See what large letters I use as I write to you with my own hand!

     12 Those who want to make a good impression outwardly are trying to compel you to be circumcised. The only reason they do this is to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ. 13 Not even those who are circumcised obey the law, yet they want you to be circumcised that they may boast about your flesh. 14 May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. 15 Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is a new creation. 16 Peace and mercy to all who follow this rule, even to the Israel of God." - Galatians 6:11-16

    Surprising, one of my friend use "The New Creation" as his MSN Nickname and he's a Christian (praise God). Looks like he got his inspiration from this verse.

    I guess the Apostle Paul mean the same when he said to the Ephesians,

    "4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." - Ephesians 2:4-10

    We are God's new creation when we are saved. Everyone is God's old creation but because of sin, we were (and some still are) separated from God.

    So, let's rejoice because we are back with our Heavenly Father and let's help Him bring back our brothers and sisters =)

    God bless,

    Des

    Verse of the Day

    "So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness." - Colossians 2:6-7

    Our God is mighty to save...

    How wonderful our God is, how mighty is our God when He said this:

    [This is what God says (to us even now)]

    "Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
           I have summoned you by name; you are mine.

     2 When you pass through the waters,
           I will be with you;
           and when you pass through the rivers,
           they will not sweep over you.
           When you walk through the fire,
           you will not be burned;
           the flames will not set you ablaze.

     3 For I am the LORD, your God,
           the Holy One of Israel, your Savior...

    4 Since you are precious and honored in my sight,
           and because I love you,
           I will give men in exchange for you,
           and people in exchange for your life.

     5 Do not be afraid, for I am with you;
           I will bring your children from the east
           and gather you from the west.

     6 I will say to the north, 'Give them up!'
           and to the south, 'Do not hold them back.'
           Bring my sons from afar
           and my daughters from the ends of the earth-

     7 everyone who is called by my name,
           whom I created for my glory,
           whom I formed and made."

    - Isaiah 43:1-7

    Be Still...

     In our busy schedule, be still and know that God is with us till the ends of time...

    10 "Be still, and know that I am God;
           I will be exalted among the nations,
           I will be exalted in the earth."

     11 The LORD Almighty is with us;
           the God of Jacob is our fortress.

    - Psalm 46:10-11

    God bless

    Food for thought: Faith...

     1 Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. 2 This is what the ancients were commended for.

     3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. 4 By faith Abel offered God a better sacrifice than Cain did. By faith he was commended as a righteous man, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith he still speaks, even though he is dead.

     5 By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death; he could not be found, because God had taken him away. For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God. 6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

     7 By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith. - Hebrews 11:1-7

    Then where do "faith" and "hope" come from?

     "For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you." - Romans 12:3

    "Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." - 1 Corinthians 13:7

    "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law." - Galatians 5:22

    "Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ." - Romans 10:17

    How to apply faith to make it real?

    22 "Have faith in God," Jesus answered. 23 "I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. 25 And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins." - Mark 11:22-25

    It is written: "I believed; therefore I have spoken."With that same spirit of faith we also believe and therefore speak..." - 2 Corinthians 4:13

    Is Life Fair?

    Hmmm, a great sermon from my pastor. Perhaps it is good to share with all of us...

    Why Life is unfair?

    1. God gives us the freedom of choice (especially to love Him or not) but there are consequences to our choices

    "See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse" - Deuteronomy 11:26

    2. God's going to settle accounts one day

    "I thought in my heart,
           'God will bring to judgment
           both the righteous and the wicked,
           for there will be a time for every activity,
           a time for every deed.' " -
    Ecclesiastes 3:17

    3. We need a Saviour

    "I also thought, 'As for men, God tests them so that they may see that they are like the animals...' " - Ecclesiates 3:18

    4. It can build character

    "Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope." - Romans 5:3-4

    So, how should I respond to unfairness?

    1. Accept it gracefully

    "Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed." - 1 Peter 4:12-13

    2. Respond lovingly

    "This is what the LORD says: Do what is just and right. Rescue from the hand of his oppressor the one who has been robbed. Do no wrong or violence to the alien, the fatherless or the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place." - Jeremiah 22:3

    "Honest scales and balances are from the LORD;
           all the weights in the bag are of His making."
    - Proverbs 16:11

    "The righteous care about justice for the poor,
           but the wicked have no such concern."
    - Proverbs 29:7

    3. Wait for God's help expectantly

    "For it is commendable if a man bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because he is conscious of God." - 1 Peter 2:19

    "So then, those who suffer according to God's will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good." - 1 Peter 4:19

    "For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all." - 2 Corinthians 4:17

    God bless
