God gives grace to the humble
"God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." James 4:6
When God convicts me about something, I write about it, believing that by sharing them with others, God will not only bless others but help me as well.
Last night, as I was reading a book about Grace, it talks about how God opposes the proud and gives grace to the humble as it says in James 4:6. How many humble people do you know? It made me search within and asked, "How humble am I?"
I cringed when I realized that there are only very few humble people I know. I have to be honest to say that I am not humble at all times. When things are going well, I tend to be proud. Proud of my achievements, my talents and abilities, and it humbled me to think that without God, I am really nothing. Everything will pass away, but the Word of God lasts forever.
If you are a Christian who knows so much about Bible and everything there is to learn about God, watch out! Pride is waiting in the front door of your mind. Self-righteousness can set in. It's even easy to be cynical of the baby Christians, of the weak and the timid.
The true followers of Christ are those who "follows" His example. He exemplifies true humility by being a humble servant to the point of death even to the cross. And God, His Heavenly Father exalted him forever and now is living in the hearts of us who believes.
May God continue to give us insights and revelations as we walk together in this journey!
To God be the glory!

Amazing!!
Wow!! Amazing how God speaks in my heart reminding me how much He loves me. You see, this morning when I woke up, my spirit is filled with the outpouring of His love . All I could utter in my prayer was "Lord, thank You for Your love!" I didn't have to ask for anything because I feel His presence so close, His majesty enveloping me like a sweet embrace that won't let me go. Everything I see reminds me of His enduring, everlasting love.
I wrote a devotional today titled, "The Gift of Love." Few hours after that, I came across a book that speaks of His gift of love. It says that God loves me no matter what, and just the way I am. I don't have to impress Him or do anything to earn that love. What a coincidence you may say. I believe it's God blessing me by acknowledging that indeed, He loves me very much.
Like a seed of faith planted in my heart that takes years and years to bloom and be fruitful, it's amazing how God works everything together for good to those of us who love Him and are called according to His purpose. I can only recall my past and the trials I encountered, and how He used them to make me humble and patient. that the present challenges I see now as heavenly opportunities.
Amazing grace, how sweet it is! There is no greater love than His!

Be Encouraged!
I've been told that I have a gift of encouragement or exhortation. I find it such a joy to be a blessing to someone. And when I know they are blessed, I feel double blessings coming my way. To know what your gift is, ask yourself what it is that makes you excited to get out of bed in the morning. What it is that motivates you to do what you are doing? As someone who loves to make someone smile through writing words of inspiration, I find my day incomplete when I haven't written or say something that will uplift someone. When encouragement dies, so is inspiration.
I find that one of the greatest joy in my life is to be able to see someone smile because of what I say or do. I remember a quote that says, "Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier." And the opposite is true. When I say something hurtful to others, I become uneasy, restless and guilty. At times when I become self-focused, exhausted and sleep deprived, I say careless words that I soon regret. I believe God wants us to be physically, mentally and spiritually healthy to be fruitful and productive.
What I learned through these years is that people won't change unless they want to and are willing to turn to God for guidance. I can point out people's flaws but it will only make them upset and insecure. My role is just keep on praying for them. If it's hard to change ourselves, why spend our energy trying to change others? As a parent, I find that when I force my kids to do something, it's still their choice that prevails, but as long as I teach them and guide them to the right path, (Proverbs 22:6) I am confident they will eventually choose the righteous way. I am a praying mom and a praying wife and I rest in the assurance that God hears my prayers. He is teaching me patience as I wait. To have relationships that last and edify, I have to put up with some stuff I don't like, whether it's at my job, at home and in my daily encounter with others.
May our God of hope, love and encouragement fill your day with sunshine as you fix your mind and heart on the things that matters most. May I leave to you this anonymous quote:
"If you have something nice to say, say it NOW...for you may never have another chance." SMILE,
Gloria
