Have you looked in the back of your Bible lately to find a word that is in Scripture in your index? If not try it there are a lot of verses on forgiveness I do believe it is mandatory. Some verses even say if we don’t forgive others we want be forgiven. Matthew 6:14-15 Yuk!
That doesn’t sound fair because my circumstances are different; I have a right not to forgive. Well you may feel that way but you also are in need of forgiveness all of us are. In Matthew 18:35 It says we are not to withhold forgiveness from others. Sometimes it actually hurts us more not to forgive someone than it is to go on and allow God to help us to forgive the person that has hurt or offended us. And also I have learned that when I forgive others when they hurt me it is easier for me to forgive myself when I fail and have to ask someone else to forgive me. It has been proven in studies that people who don’t practice forgiveness have many health problems, physically and mentally it can destroy you. Just think of someone you know that has an unforgiving spirit and see what they are living with bitterness, pain, bondage, and many other things that God knows will hurt us. That is why He has called us to a life of forgiveness.
