My dear brothers and sisters in the Lord & Family members:

Greetings in the name of the Lord!

Many have been asking me when I will  send out my blog.  So, here we are.

As you all know I went to Israel from 3 November through 25 November. I went to a very Intensive Ministry Training called School of Ministry in Israel.  It definitely was intense. Right now many things are still a blur since so much was taught us.

    Some highlights:

We learned about Shabbat and had Shabbat meals.  The word Shabbat means Sabbath.  Most everything does shut down on that day.  It is a great time with family and friends and focus on fellowship with God and people.

At every sight that we went, there was always some kind of a teaching.  I cannot tell you what I have learned from each of these incidents because it will take too long, there was soooooooo much.

    Places we went to include:

Tel Aviv, Jaffa, Haifa, Mt. Carmel, The Jordan River from Mt. Hermon south, various places in the Galilee – Capernaum, Peter’s home, boat ride on the Sea of Galilee, the Ancient Galilee Boat Museum, the Mount of Beatitudes, overlooking the Valley of Megiddo (Jezreel), Mt. Hermon, Tel Dan overlooking Lebanon, the Golan overlooking Syria, eating St. Peter’s fish, Caesarea Philippi ruins.  We also went to the Caesarea Mediterranean ruins, saw the mode of transporting water 9 miles through a highly sophisticated waterway system called aqueducts.

We also went to New & Old Jerusalem – Mt. of Olives, Gethsemene, Mt. Zion, Wailing Wall (Western wall), Jaffa Gate, Herod’s Gate, The Eastern Gate (Golden gate), The shrine of the Book, Yad Vashem holocost memorial, Hebrew Cemetary, Via Delarosa, Christ’s burial place, the Christian Quarter, The Armenian Quarter, and the Arab quarter, the Dome of the Rock, Old Jerusalem Model.

Then we traveled south to Masada, EnGedi, Qumran, and the Dead Sea.

I may have left out some places from the Intensive Ministry Training.

Places I stayed while in Israel include: Beit Immanuel (Joffa – TelAviv), Christ Church Guest House – Old Jerusalem inside the Joffa Gate, Beit Yedidia – Haifa, Karei Deshi Youth Hostel – off the Sea of Galilee near Tiberias.

While in Israel I met up with the woman who discipled me 40 years ago with her mother.  It was a great time. I also bought an extra Large Shofar.  It has a great sound.  I also found a place in the forest outside of Jerusalem called the House of Herarri. This is the only place in all of Israel which makes Levitical harps.  The man is from the house of Levi and his wife is from the line of Aaron. I think it is interesting to meet wonderful Hebrew men and women who have a heart for the Lord. I purchased a 22 string Davidic Harp.  They will ship it to me in about 6 months.  They are in the process of making it for me.  I’m truly excited.

After the Training I spent several days in the Galilee trying to rest and taking in other places that I didn’t get to see.  On my way there I found some shepherds with their sheep outside of Jericho.  They allowed me to hold a brand new baby lamb.  They asked me if I could speak Arabic.  I said no.  I asked them if they could speak English and they said no.  We laughed a lot.

I remember asking God if I could get on a camel and the Lord answered that prayer.  I was able to get on a camel at sea level from a Bedoin man.  It was wonderful.  I visited the Jordan River Park, Betsaida, and Gamla as well as Bet She’an (Scithopholis).  These were places that I wanted to visit.  I also wanted to visit three other places: Nazareth, Bethlehem, and Jericho.  However, because I had a rental car the agreement forbad me to go to these places because of the Palestinian Authority and the State of Israel Agreement. I did go nearby though.

    Some things that I learned:

I learned quite a bit about how God has sustained Israel for so many generations.  Any country which has gone through what Israel has no longer exists.  I learned more about what it means to be grafted into the vine.  I learned how Christians have persecuted the Jews.  I saw how Arabs and Jews alike can get along.  I saw how the men of old were very intelligent and clever in how they built structures.  Even using today’s equipment it could not compare with what was accomplished 2000 + years ago.  I saw how God really does Love and protects His people.

While in Israel I had some opportunities to share about Yeshua (Jesus) with some people.  They had asked me some questions and we had a good conversation.  One woman told me that God does not exist.  She is in her late 70s and moved back to Israel because this is where she belongs.  She is Jewish. She said that God did not take care of His people because of the Holocost.  So God does not love and He does not exist.  I spoke with a Jewish intellectual whom I gave a ride to.  He had many questions about Yeshua and Christianity with relationship to the Jewish people today.  One woman asked me to pray for her daughter who went to Poland on a class trip.  However, since she has been home she has been racked with fear and is praying constantly.  I gave her some Scripture to look at and prayed with them.

I also heard some testimony of people fleeing their country of origin i.e. Sudan, Ethiopia, etc. to become citizens of Israel.  They were Jewish.  Many of them walked from these countries even losing family members just to get to Israel.  When they get to Israel they must start from nothing and work their way up.  It is quite difficult since many of them have no job, no money, no place to stay, etc.  Sometimes that forces them into prostitution and other things.   The country of Israel is trying to help them.  They get 6 months of free Hebrew classes.  Some congregations help them to learn some kind of trade so that they can take care of their family.

Since I’ve been home it has taken me a very long time to readjust.  I think I just about slept away two weeks.  It will take some time to get my photos in order.  I think I took almost 2000 photos.  I'm going half crazy trying to sort them out.  I took my laptop to Israel so that I could at least place them in folders.  But that is not enough.  Meybe by New Year I will get it done.  I'll let you know. I did accomplish some things though.  I finished typing the first reader for my Chinese Christian vocabulary book.  I have two more readers to go, New Testament and Old Testament as well as a catch-all chapter.

I was able to spend some time with a woman by the name of Emma who is a Christian who is unable to go to church because of school and work.  She even has an exam the day after Christmas.  Christmas doesn’t mean much in this country except to give some gifts.  Chinese New Year is the big holiday.  It lasts for one week.  It is a festive time and family time.  Banks are closed for a week as well as all government offices, schools & many other jobs as well.

    Prayer items:

    - Today I am speaking to college students at the PingDong Commerce University.  It is a Christmas message and the purpose of Jesus coming.

    - 12th & 13th is large group discipleship at two different locations with about a total of 20+ people in attendance.

    - 18th school Christmas party and two doctor’s appointments (Diabetes & bone problems)

    - 19th Christmas program at Church with other congregations joining in.

    - 21st in the morning U.S. ROTC will be coming to my Chinese school.  I’ll be part of the welcoming committee.  We desperately need more students.  The economy has taken a great toll on people learning Chinese.

    - 21st in the afternoon I’ll be speaking twice and PingDong Christian Hospital to the Doctors, Nurses, staff, patients, etc. for a Christmas chapel.  Immanuel – God with us is the theme.

    - 26th is discipleship Christmas party.  One of my gir's husband has cancer and just got baptized in his home.  His mother that day came to know Jesus.  However, she did not want to get baptized.

-27th a.m. I’ll be preaching at the Nanze Higher Ground Filipino Church.

    - 1/3/2010 I’ll be speaking at my church.  I’ll be talking about being grafted in and what that means to us.

    - It is possible that I will start another discipleship class with a touch of English added in at the PingDong Christian Hospital.  I won't know for another couple of weeks.  If so it will include chaplains, Doctors, Nurses, & staff.

    - Please pray for continued health and safety.

    - I want to be more intimate with God.

    - I want more opportunities to share the Gospel.

    - I want others to catch the vision of disciplemaking.

    - Preparations to go back to the Philippines in May.  This is a discipleship leaders camp for 5 days.  Should be there for about two to three weeks.

    Scripture:

Psalm 122:6    Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May they prosper who love you.

Matthew 5:1-12   1 Now when he saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, 2 and he began to teach them saying:

3 "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.

10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the         kingdom of heaven.

11 "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.

12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

God Bless You all!  Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!!!

    上帝祝福你們!!!   伸黨快樂!!!   信年快樂!!!

Greetings in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ:
October has been a mixed bag of events.  There have been many accidents, illnesses, as well as other kinds of events.  One of the men who is now in my discipleship class got baptized a couple of weeks ago.  Someone gave me a very old 150 cc motorcycle.  It is a cruiser.  I asked if anyone knew if someone needed it.  This young man was praying and God answered his prayer.  He will use it for two months and go back to China.  I told God that it had been a very long time since I've personally seen someone saved.  God arranged that I and three other women got together for lunch at my favorite place in the mountains called Hai An Cafe.  This one young lady said that she felt that her heart was split.  One side for God and the other side was evil.  In the past some people told her about Jesus but she never made a decision to begin a relationship with Him.  God totally arranged this.  She said that she wanted Jesus.  So at the Cafe we prayed and she has now begun a relationship with Him.  One of the other young ladies is following up on her.  She is the Vice President of a new dormitory for women.  Praise the Lord!!!

Lately I've seen many motor scooter and car accidents.  I've had to direct traffic a couple of times.  I think the emergency people are getting to know me.  God Has been protecting me.  Many times I've come close to getting into an accident.  But God has intervened and protected me.

I had the opportunity to share my testimony at the PingDong Commercial University.  I've been there twice.  I'll be going back in December.  I'll be going to a couple of schools during the day and to this university in the evening.  At the University one of my disciplees is leading the youth meeting.  God is good!!!!  She is also learning how to interpret for me.  What a blessing.

I went to the PingDong Christian Hospital.  It seems like the chaplains would like to have an English discipleship class.  They also want to disciple others.  What a blessing.  I'm not sure when that will occur, maybe in January.  December 21st I'll be there speaking twice to the staff.  Please pray that the hearts of these men and women will be touched and that they too will have a deep relationship with Jesus.

Please look at my photos with picassa and you will find some albums from this last month.  There will be youth leading in worship, a prophetess speaking, two times baptisms, and disciples & MTS students (No names).

In Chinese there are two terms that sound quite alike when you speak it quickly.  One of my girls called me and I thought she said that her sister wanted to come to my home to have xiu xi.  But she actually said shou xi.  The tones are very similar but the meanings are quite different.  I thought she said that her sister wanted to come to my home to rest a while during discipleship.  So I said sure.  She asked me if I understood and I said yes!  However, what she actually said was could her sister come to my house to be baptized?  Needless to say that was interesting.  They got it approved from my pastor . I asked her several questions then I baptized her in the bathroom in the bath tub using the shower head to immerse her in water.  She was totally soaked. This was the first person that I was privileged to baptize. On Sunday she had her first communion.  What a day of rejoicing that has been.  She was rejoicing and weeping at the same time.  Again what a blessing.

In my Chinese classes my teachers have been helping me to translate various things.  I'm working on a book with one teacher on Christian Vocabulary.  We are doing all of the characters in Chinese with all of the Chinese way of pronunciation called bo po mo fo and the romanized way as well.  This will include the grammar points with the English translation.  I'm learning a lot.  My Chinese is getting better.  But at times I have no idea what others are saying.  Most of the time I can communicate.  My grammar needs quite a bit of work.

Lately I've noticed that we are having more and more elderly come to know Jesus and come to our fellowship.  Verious elderly men are coming.  They are helping each other.  There is a radiance about them that is tremendous.  Praise the Lord!

I've been teaching three discipleship classes and one gospel class at the MTS school.  With the four levels of English Bible Studies and these classes I am training around 45 people.  With the addition of the Ping Dong pastors tentatively that will put the total to about 55 people.  Please pray for me that I would have the stamina and that they will train others to train others.

Sunday I was also blessed with another sight.  One of my girls led a worker of hers to the Lord last year.  She is discipling her and another girl.  Then on Sunday this younger woman brought two of her coworkers to church.  They were all sitting in the same row together.  Praise the Lord!!  People are catching on to the need and joy of discipleship training.

Later today I leave for Israel for intensive training.  Please find enclosed in this e-mail my flight schedule, hotels and itinerary plus phone contacts in case of emergency.  I really would appreciate your prayers for me.  This is a dream come true.  This is my first time there.

I will be visiting with a girl in Jerusalem who discipled me 40 years ago . She and her mother are going on a Benny Hinn Tour.  What an exciting time that will be.

The last day of school will be in Jerusalem.  We will have a certificate ceremony.  There will be around 90 pastors, missionaries and leaders from all over the world there.  The significance of 17 November is that this will be my 60th birthday.  I can't think of any better way to spend it than to be in the Holy Land.

I'm going on a personal retreat in the Galilee right off the Sea of Galilee.  Needless to say I am totally excited. I'll be back on the 25th.

Thank you for your continued prayers for me.

    God bless!
    Pastor Xiao Yang

    Blog update

Greetings in the name of the Lord:

This has been a very busy month.  We've been busy helping people in the flood areas of Taiwan.  Some have given clothing.  Some Christians have taken money from the government agencies and the Buddhist agencies and left church.  Pastors have needed much encouragement.  All of the areas hit are not like this.  However, it is sad that some people have left.  Please pray that they would truly know the true and living God and not rely on man but on the strength of the Lord.  He is the Jehovah Jireh.  God's people have rallied and tried to help.  We need to do more.  Various churches have gone in and help dig people out from under the mud and crud that was caused by the Typhoon.  One church, Shepherd Covenant Christian Church is starting another sister church in a hard hit area just south of me.  The Dongang Shepherd Covenant Christian Church is helping in the town next to them.  They are providing food, and helping in a variety of ways.  They have started a Sunday evening Bible Study and worship in this little village.
God has been providing in many ways.
We graduated 4 girls who have completed the discipleship training.  Praise the Lord.  We are now meeting once a month.  The second discipleship group is doing well.  We have around 14 people who come from about five churches.  Three weeks ago we started a third discipleship group.  We have around 14 to 16 people in attendance.  They are quite excited.  Hopefully I will have their photos on picassa within the next month or so with their names so that you can pray for them.  I'm teaching at Shepherd Covenant Christian Church their MTS (Missionary Training School) Gospel class.  There are 11 students there.  During the week on Mondays & Wednesdays I have several students in attendance for four English levels of Bible Study.  One study, I am in the process of making up materials for them. We are doing Old Testament stories. These young people are great.  It is a joy to meet with them.
One woman from my church just went through an engagement party. Her name is Shi Yu. It reminds me of how the Scriptures view engagement.  It is a very serious thing, almost like marriage.
Please pray for my friend Ya Jun (Jennifer).  Her mother has been in the hospital for around one month or more.  Please pray for her total healing.
Talking about healing, my sister went to visit my mom for about one week.  It turns out that my mom was allergic to some medicine that she was taking.  Also, she needed to stop taking some medicine as well.  She is doing much better now.  However, she has developed a terrible skin rash.  Please pray for total healing for my mom as well.
My youngest sister, Louise, just found out that she has diabetes.  Please pray for her.  She has no insurance and very little way of paying for the much needed medicine.  Please pray that she would experience God's total miraculous healing.
Our church just baptized five people.  It is an exciting time.  One of my girls from my first discipleship class (Shou Er) is now discipling one of the ladies and another woman.  That is so exciting to me.
My Chinese classes are coming along fine.  I'm in the process of helping the school with a Christian Vocabulary text book that desperately needs revision.  My teachers are awesome and are helping me translate some stories and helping me with this revision as well.  The romanization is an old form and quite confusing.  So I'm typing in Chinese, Chinese pronunciation (bo, po, mo, fo) using Chinese symbols and romanization called Han-Yu Pinyon.  It will take a long time but it will help me in remembering the Chinese Christian Vocabulary.
We just celebrated Teacher Appreciation Day.  We had a great time. I asked one of the pastor's to pray and he prayed in Chinese.  What a blessing that was to all of us.
I just finished a new edition of the Discipleship manual in English & Tagalog, English & Chinese as well as a discipleship seminar booklet in the aforementioned languages.  It's been a process of about three years of compilation.  Also, I've just started teaching at a Missionary Training School a Gospel course.  So I created a manual for that class as well.  It is in English & Chinese.
I have been reading some books in preparation to going to Israel to a school of ministry at Mt. Carmel Assembly of God Church School of Ministry on Mt. Carmel itself.  This will be my first trip.  The girl who discipeled me 40 years ago and her mother will also be in Israel.  So we will get together for one day.  The last day of the school ends on my 60th birthday (17 November).  I can't see a better way to spend that cornerstone of a birthday than in the city of Jerusalem. I will then stay in Israel for a few more days to rest and meditate and pray. Praise the Lord.
Please pray for my friends in the Philippines.  They just had one month's rain in one day.  Over 250 people are dead.  One pastor friend of mine took in 30 families and other churches are helping him as well.  My friend Hayley also asked for prayer.  She is in Pampanga.  She says that she is fine but others are not.  One area that our team visited last year is in a dump.  They are not doing well at all.  The waters have risen tremendously.  There is no place for the water to go except up.  Please pray for the brothers and sisters in the Philippines.  It seems like the Asian countries are being hit hard.
I believe that the Lord will return soon.  We must be ready.  We must take back what belongs to us and to God.  We must rely on the Lord for His strength and guidance.
For the last couple of days we've had a pastor from India who has been ministering to us.  I can't even begin to extract what he has had to say for us except one point:   He has prophesied that the Chinese people from around the world will need to go to the Mainland and help the believers there.  God will use us with signs and wonders.  Please pray for our preparation for what God would have in mine for each of us.
In closing, please pray for me.  I've been sick again.  I'm not sure if it is a cold or allergies.
Also, I've been struggling with my colon and with my blood sugars.  I'm looking for total healing by God.  I will also see a specialist for a colonoscopy 5 October in the afternoon.
God is good all the time.
Since the US Dollar is going down compared to the New Taiwanese Dollar I need God's wisdom in frugality.  Every time I think of this, a song comes to my mind:   "
I just keep trusting my Lord as I walk a long.  I just keep trusting my Lord and He gives a song.
Though the storm clouds darken the sky o'er the heav'nly trail.  I just keep trusting my Lord, He will never fail.  He's a faithful friend, such a faithful friend.  I can count on Him to the very end.  Though the storm clouds darken the sky o'er the heav'nly trail.  I just keep trusting my Lord, He will never fail."

    Pray for the Lord's return.

Pray for many more to have true repentance and be saved.

    God bless you all.

    Pastor Xiao Yang

Please ponder Psalm 77 and Psalm 34.

    Blog update

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

This has been an interesting month. I must first give you some background information. August is the 8th month.  The term in Chinese for 8 is "ba".  So August 8th is "ba ba".  This is father's day.  Many people from the island try to go to their home village or city to celebrate Father's Day.  It turns out that on the 7th of August we had our first typhoon of the season.  The winds and most importantly rains lasted for around three days.  We had around 80 inches of rain.  The winds were quite high as well.  Trees were blowing down on the roads.  Mudslides were the norm.  One whole village under mud with homes going into the river out into the Pacific Ocean.  One hotel even crashed into the sea.  Roads became impassable.  Even one bridge just south of me had a section that was destroyed with 7 cars plunging into the raging water.  People were without food, water, electricity, homes and most importantly family members.  Then this morning I awoke at around 5:00 a.m. to an earthquake.  What does all this mean?  I realy believe that God is shaking this nation and trying to get our attention.  This nation is filled with idols.  God wants us to love and serve Him and Him alone.  His heart cries out with a desire to have a relationship with everyone.  Please pray for Taiwan and the rest of the world that they would hear the heart of God and repent.  We have many volunteers working day and night to help these victims.  Praise the Lord!  Goods from around the world are coming in.  China has sent 1000 prefab homes.  The U.S. has sent in planes with goods and helicopters to help in the search and rescue. The government is helping quite a bit as well with food, water, and shelter as best as they can.  Please continue to lift up the people of this nation and may they turn to the Lord and master of their lives.  These natural disasters show me that life is short.  We need to make the most of it.  The time is now.

Please continue to pray for me as well for my health especially my right leg.  I believe that God is healing me.  Sometimes, I still feel my leg muscles getting tight and then become quite painful.

Also, pray for my mom.  She is in the hospital for observation.  Her blood pressure was low.

As you read the following verse replace Egypt with Taiwan. As I was meditating this verse came to my mind.  I believe that God wants the people of Taiwan to be shaken awake so that they will be truly saved.

Isaiah 19:1  An oracle concerning Egypt (Taiwan): See, the LORD rides on a swift cloud and is coming to Egypt (Taiwan). The idols of Egypt (Taiwan) tremble before him, and the hearts of the Egyptians (Taiwanese) melt within them.

2 Peter 3:9  The Lord isn't slow about keeping his promises, as some people think he is. In fact, God is patient, because he wants everyone to turn from sin and no one to be lost.

    Blog update

Dear brothers and sisters in the Lord:

Greetings in the name of the Lord.  I must admit that July has been in a fog.  Most of the month I was sick with a sore throat, sneezing, cough, breathing problems, fever, and so on.  That lasted for about three weeks.  I saw four doctors during that time.  My sugars were sky high. I had three shots and medicine.  Needless to say the month went by quickly.  I did manage to see the opening and closing ceremonies for the World Games with an elderly friend of mine.  I then went to see the canoe water polo.  The last day of these matches the wind was so great that they had to change venues.  So we went to a very large indoor pool to complete the matches.  Because of this I met a couple from Australia and their daughter.  The couple's names are Robyn and Colin.  After the teams went back to Australia they came to my home.  I was able to help them and we did some traveling in the southern portion of the island.  I introduced them to some friends of mine who are tribal people. They them did some more traveling on their own prior to going back to Australia.  The Lord was ever present.  They made a comment about that.  After they left I had some excruciating pains in my right leg.  It was a pinched nerve.  I went to the emergency room and I had three shots.  The last one was demerol.  It made me sleepy and cut the pain a little.  Needless to say this last month + I slept a lot.

This last Thursday was my first day back to school in about three weeks.  I was quite weak.  However, as the day progressed I became stronger and stronger.  I am quite appreciative that my teachers were quite understanding.

My leg is much better.  I had nerve tests done and the nerves are fine.  I found out that my leg bone was slightly ajar and that caused a pinched nerve. It also affected L1 in my back.  My Chinese medicine doctor and Western medicine doctors medicines by themselves were not enough to help.  I combined them and it worked.  I told both of the doctors and they agreed with each other as to the medicines and cause of my plight.

I want to thank all of you for praying for me.  Even though I used doctors ultimate healing comes from the Lord.

As a result of prayer God has healed me.  I was able to testify for the first time all in Chinese without a translator.  I give God all of the praise.

Yesterday, Friday, the whole island was shut down because of a typhoon.  I still went to my teacher's home and we had some practical Chinese classes in a relaxed environment: her home.

I've had some opportunities to share with people about the Lord.  However, they have not begun a relationship with Him.  Please continue to pray for Taiwan.

Scripture says that "God is not willing that anyone should perish but all come to repentance."  This is God's heart.

We had a speaker from Uganda come and share for three days in Kaohsiung.  He was very sick.  But I could tell as the days were going on he was getting better and better.  In other cities in Taiwan (Taipei & Taizhong) he was in a wheel chair.  Sometimes his wife spoke and he rested.  Please pray for our dear brother (John Mulinde) as God uses him to share practical principles for national and personal revival.

Hopefully in a couple of days I will have some photos from the conference and from the World games.

I would like to tell you about God's provision.  My dryer broke down.  Even though medical is not much still it is unexpected.  Also, this morning my refrigerator broke down.  The Lord has graciously provided for my needs financially.  I praise God for those whom God has used to listen to God and provide for His people.  Thank you!

I need to go now.  I'm getting a bit tired.  I think I have been spoiled by a lot of sleep.  I must get that turned around.

    Prayer items:

    1.  Grow closer to the Lord and see where He is at and that I would join Him.

    2.  Continued health and safety.

    3.  Starting a new discipleship class in September in my home. The first class will be graduating and we will continue to meet once a month for prayer, encouragement, and bible study.

    4.  I desire more opportunities to share with people about Jesus in Chinese.
