Timothy, a small challenge for you. You say that you do not get into the Word enough. I trust you when you say this is so. Find a trustworthy brother, if you can. Make a commitment to read at least one small verse a day and try to have an application for it (I don't think the second part is as important) and share that one verse at least, at the end of the day or at some other appointed time. You do not have to discuss it at length with that brother, but I think you will find that you will want to without making such a commitment, from time to time. You will also find that one little verse coming to mind throughout the day, from time to time, and may have more thoughts on it later in the week, even. Some might suggest actually memorizing the verse. I lay no such burden on you. Understand what is said, even as a child, and that I think is enough. You will doubtlessly make changes to this idea that would more fit with you and where you are at.

If we were to read only one verse a day for our entire life, it would take pretty much that entire life to cover every verse in the Bible. If you want to use a guide like 'Our Daily Bread' or 'Daylights' or some other small pocket sized book, there is absolutely no shame in that and it could make it easier. You could read it on the bus or the train, if you use such conveyances. And if you read tuesday's passage on saturday, I find no reason to judge yourself harshly on that, even.

Another brother suggested to me reading one chapter of Proverbs, choosing the chapter that corresponds to the day of the month. Just reading it, and not burdening yourself beyond that. Other things will come from that as well. And you don't need to worry that you missed a day or two, even if that happens a lot. If it bothers you, good! Do not take that as a burden of shame but rather a chance given by God to have a small place that you can improve in your life, if you truely believe it is what he would have you do. Take it as a blessing provided by his grace to try and improve. Not that we improve by our own power and efforts, but if our heart is right in a matter, and we truely wish to do better, God has a way of making the impossible possible. You will find yourself looking back and realizing that you have come far, indeed.

Certainly, I am as capable as you are, of falling into old familiar traps. Your only responsibility is to pick yourself up, turn away for evil and towards God and ask for his help, even in the simplest of ways.

Figuratively throw up your hands and mentally say 'God Help Me!' He hears you. Take heart in this. We are not left here alone.

I know some of what you are going through. God is steadfast. He is faithful, even when we are not. How many times did Christ say to forgive your brother? Give yourself the same benefit. Repentance does not have to be a huge and involved thing. You know when you are sorry and why. Accept fogiveness. Again, how many times?

Go in God's Blessed Peace, brother, and may it dwell upon you,

    Mel

I am reminded of Simon Peter's situation just before Jesus' crucifixion. He denied that he even knew Jesus and then the rooster crowed and some even say that Jesus walked out into the courtyard and His eyes met Peter's...

After Jesus's resurrection, He came to Peter and asked him "Peter do you love Me..." and He asked that question 3 times.. one time for each time Peter denied that he knew Jesus.

God forgives us of ALL of our sin. There are no little sins nor any big sins. There is one sin that destines us to an eternity of separation and that is rejecting Jesus as Savior for our lives. All other sin is forgiven and forgotten.

When the devil tries to remind you of your past... remind him of his future! He is the real looser and you are the winner if you will just tkae God by the hand and walk with Him... He will give your life meaning and purpose and He will use you if you will allow Him to do so.

    May God bless....

Timothy, the devil is a liar!

Jesus said: The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy, I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows). _John 10:10

    You are in my prayers.
    Love!

Hey man, sounds like you need to find a way even as mel said to read at least a verse. Get into the word with that and prayer Christ can overcome anything. Keep this in mind also, don't post here to benefit anyone but yourself. If you do this for you and God then the things which help others will come. Maybe if it's a help to you you could pick a verse and post it no way satan can tell you thats not beneficial to anyone. If it helps I really don't have anything of importance to anyone here either, but I still do it
    Be blessed

Just a reminder: For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.

God is faithful and He can restore you. I pray that God will send people along your way to encourage you. Stay in His Word it is the only true source of strength.
    Blessings!

Was Moses worthy? What about Paul? David committed adultury and murder. Was he worthy? Not one of us is! Outside of God's grace, we are nothing!

Paul talks about a 'thorn in the flesh' which leads me to think that it was something he thought he needed to be rid of to be more for Christ. What was God's answer? "My Grace is sufficient!"

    God's Grace is upon you,

God ain't gonna let go of you! Get down low, my friend and cry out. He's doin' a work. Let Him do it.
    You're being prayed for, brother!

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any [man] pluck them out of my hand.
My Father, which gave [them] me, is greater than all; and no [man] is able to pluck [them] out of my Father's hand. Jn. 10:27-29

Jesus himself tells us all, "Blessed are the poor in Spirit for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven" Mt5:3 My prayer for you is that you will know the peace that passes all understanding, that God's love will be like a warm fleecy blanket as he wraps his arms of love around you, that you will be blessed.

Times when I have been under serious attack were times that after a while I too left reading the word. It's human nature, so don't beat yourself up about it. Try get back to it, but I feel that God does understand and His grace far exceeds our own condemnation.
I don't think that the point is you not reading the word, but rather the fact that you are under severe attack. The fact that you have already picked up on this, means you are already one step closer to beating satan.

Remember that the Lord knew all of this was going to happen to you BEFORE you were even born. He knows you can get through it. Even though you may not even feel like talking to God right now, remember that He has not left you. Try rebuking satan. "Satan, I rebuke you in the name of Jesus Christ, I will NOT accept thoughts of failure, not being any use to anyone, etc etc. Go AWAY!" and then silently I would just say "Lord, please help me".

I remember that it took months before I reached rock bottom where I couldn't handle anymore, and it was only at that very point that God reached down and picked me up out of the pit. Keep applying as much of what you have learnt, and God will do the rest.

You are almost there Tim and God is holding you and as a wound opens, Jesus is patching it up with love and mercy and forgiveness and grace and when the Lord eventually puts you back on your feet, you will be whole and complete and grateful for how far He has taken you.

Put on your boots and walk in His peace.

God Bless and keep you from harm Tim.

You are much loved and cared for.

To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, *which is Christ in you*, the hope of glory.
    Colossians 1:27
Remember we're just vessels and can do nothing on our own!
But Christ in us, now He can do it all! =)
