    Descendants of Judah--- 1Chronicles 4:9,10 -
The rentention of this historical information probably indicates that God had granted Jabez's request. His good accomplishments thus contradict his name, "Son of Sorrow."

God bless you Mel, with Love, Joy and Peace in HIM...

Ok, now you opened a can of worms. I personally think God blessed Jabez because he had plans for him and it had nothing in particular to do with his prayer.

I also think God blessed Jabez because of the plans intended for him. However, I also think that we are not necessarily blessed just for the sake of blessing. There are times, I believe, that we must ask God for those blessings; He is longing to give us if we are to ask...so He receives the glory, not us. Perhaps it was God's intention to bless Jabez all along; Perhaps Jabez still needed to ask though.

Mel - A can of worms indeed, so I'll just keep my mouth closed lest I just make a lot of noise....... LOL :O)

    God Bless

Good to see all of your comments. If our plans are not in line with God's he will still bless us, but maybe not in the area we are asking for. His intentions will be fulfilled. I agree with Jon in that. I also agree with Matthew in that it may have come sooner because Jabez was at that place he was now willing to ask. Funny thing about trials, it points out our needs more than anything else.

As for noise, Lee, I consider your noise a joyful one, (in that I get joy even if there is nothing joyful in what you are saying -- I find it validating that you just feel I am worth saying something to, be it encouragement or correcting) and it is always welcome here...

    Be Blessed,

    Mel

(A name like "Pain" or "Son of Sorrow" would be a trial enough, I would think...)

    LOL!
