I am reading THe One Year Bible, the New Testament in the New Living Translation.

Easy enough for me to read this on the bus or train as I go to work. The funny thing is, When reading the first passage from Matthew, it came to my mind this second passage. I have always heard this first passage applied in the personal way. But I thought to myself, what would cause a church to accept this immoral behavior in the first place? And it occurs to me (guided by the spirit, I cannot say) that this man might have been in a position of honor already, maybe a person who donated a lot of wealth. Maybe a person known to get things done. A 'right hand' man.

It is possible that Christ meant this in this way also. The example of the the man in Corinth is different in that we think of a hand being cut off as whithering and dying. Indeed, in the flesh, it does! But what of the spirit?

Something to think about and ponder...

    Be Blessed,

    Mel

    Hi Mel,
back again for a quick glance.

I believe suicide never is wanted by The Lord our God, also not when thinking of spiritual suicide - which we commit by constantly condemning ourselves. The feeling of guilt is healthy in that respect we are guided to the Love of Christ. But always killing ourselves we postpone Love.

    Interesting thought...

The scripture here comes up in my readings and I always think of the world today and my heart mourns. I can imagine what weeping of heart Jesus feels. I am involved in prolife and it keeps me constantly aware of the need for prayer for the lost people in today's society. God bless!

A worthy cause, indeed. How do you pursue it, might I ask?

    In Truth,
