Timothy, I believe the church the Bible is speaking of, are the born again believers. Ones who have truly asked Christ into their hearts and lives. I am sorry the members of the church you use to attend, did not act as Christians aught to.Many times people do not know what to say or how to react to a given situation so they do nothing.May God bless and keep you always, all the way.

Hey Tim...Sadly enough, our culture teaches "SELF" above all else and it is a hard cycle to break, even in the church. Oddly, the most primary commandment to love one another is the one that seems to be the most difficult to obey. It takes a long time and a willing heart to understand what love really is...to seek another's interest above our own and do it without expectation of any return. It is a struggle against the flesh and you know how hard that is. Try not to be too hard on your pals at that church, rather...try to love them in spite of their behavior. That's how God loves us and asks us to love others. It's not easy, but you can come out of this a better man.
You shall remain in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Brother, it is right in front of you. On April 30th you wrote: "I would like to thank all of you out there who posted comments on my blog. The words touched my heart." Keep fighting brother. Many times the tribulations we face bring us so much closer to Christ. Remember that this life is only temporary and (to me) it is a training ground. Learn all you can while you can. You will continue to be in my prayers.

    Your brother in Christ!

I have been through this and I can tell you that God will give you the grace to get through this if you will just allow Him to do so. (There were several seasons that I did not even do that and He still brought me through it.)

I learned a lot about God's character and His Amazing Grace that I am not sure I would have learned otherwise... and God let me waver from some time... but He always let me know that He was still there and that in His time He would bring me out of that wilderness experience and He did.

There are a lot of lessons that you will learn as you work through all this... my prayer is that you will allow the Holy Spirit to do most of the teaching... that will make the experience pass with the least pain.

Perhaps one of the biggest problems that the church has is being able to deal with situations like divorce... the standard that the Bible presents is no divorce and sometimes the problem is that people do not understand how to offer help to people who are going through it... much like trying to help someone who has lost a loved one.

The biggest problem that I have also observed is our response to the lack of response of others. Since we are the one who is hurting, how those around us try to respond actually is more impotant to us because we are the ones in the fire so to speak.

We want people to reach out and when they dont we let that hurt us even more and I think that is a vice that the devil uses to drag us down even more.

Remember something... How you and I respond to situations and circumstances that take place around us has more to do with our victory than any other single factor... our response is to let the mind of Christ be in us and no matter what others do... our response is OUR responsibility!

I liked what Teri said as well... love them even if they failed to show you love as you would have liked for them to do... they may have reached out in ways that you just didnt see....

If I can be of any help.. do not hesitate to let me know.

We as christians should always try to help any one in need for what ever reason, I am sorry some dont. the bible tells us to love one another and that is the second greatest commandment. Pray for those who failed, and keep the love of God in your heart and you will prevail. if I can help let me know
