    Two things, Lee:

One: The old testament is full of examples of multiple wives. Having such was not considered a sin in those days. Of course now days, it is. Has something changed? For one thing, the laws of the lands generally prohibit it, and we are given rather clear instructions to obey the rulers of the land as much as we can, and in that situation, it is a sin. But if the laws where you live permit it, should we pass judgement because a man has more than one wife? I think their are instructions in the new testament about elders needing to be men with only one wife, but is there more?

Two: Jacob did have a favorite between these two wives. You will see this later on, as well. Was this wrong? Was favoring Joeseph and Benjamin wrong as well? (I don't know about whether or not favoring them is the best wasy to put it, but to say that they had a special place in his heart because of his difference in attitude between Leah and Rachel is what I see, in part.)

More for me to read and ponder, I guess...

    In Love,

    Mel
