Hey Mel, I would love to know what is going on in your mind when you select the scriptures that you post. This particular one has great significance to me but I am curious what it means to you?

Sometimes I have something I am searching for. Sometimes, like this time, I just browse. I decided to read a small book from begining to end, and this was what dropped out to me as a crucial point in this book. Ruth's decision here makes all the rest possible. Should she have returned to her own country, she would not have been the great grandmother of King David. There are a lot of choices like this in our life. In my profile I talk of being in a foreign land. I am speaking in reference to the parable of the prodigal son. The foreign land is the land of this world of sin and death. Home is where our Heavenly Father waits for us. This passage also ties another land to a place apart from God by Ruth's additional pledge to make Naomi's God her God. That is the most important, and is a declaration of faith and loyalty.

Being significant to you must mean that there is a deep meaning here for you. I'd be interested to know what that is, which might take a bit of explaining and if you wish to do that at your leisure, feel free. I am just curious...

    Your Brother,

    Mel

There are actually a couple of ways that this passage holds deep meaning for me. For one thing, I am adopted. Knowing all of my biological family, I realize that I would never have been taught about Jesus, had I not been given away. I was the only one out of 6 kids given up, the fifth in the birth order.Anyway, I think of how, when one is adopted, they take on the heritage of the adopted parents. Their people become my people and their God, my God.
But the best part of this, is knowing that God's plan for my life was at work in my life even before I was old enough to understand.
In addition, it also makes so real and understandable, the fact that we are the adopted sons and daughters of God.
The other reason, I must keep to myself.
I must say, I would really appreciate it if, when you post a scripture, you would also give some insight with it. I really enjoy learning and most of the time, I am learning from other people.

Hey Mel, check this out... back in '78, I actually had to drive to Colorado to meet 2 of my sisters. One of them lived in Denver and one of them lived in Aurora. I live in Akron, Ohio.
    Small world, huh?

    Small world? Puny!

I'll try to post a comment of my thoughts more often. Your private reason is fine with me, since I suspect it wise for you to do so, knowing myself.

Mel, it is not you... the reason that I don't choose to share my other reason. It is a place where my past merges with my present and I do not wish to expound on my past. No big deal, just more than I want to divulge.
You are a good guy Mel, I just wish that you knew that. I wish that you didn't always talk yourself down.
    C'mon... big hug!

In His Service...and in love with Him!

    I'll take that Hug! Thanks!
