Beloveds, we must clear up the lie that when the Lord told Joshua he would have good success through obeying the Law, that this was meant for Christians today. The Lord told this to Joshua that in obeying the Old Covenant of the Law God would give him success in conquering certain lands and taking these lands for the nation of Israel: Joshua 1: 5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. 6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.

Also in keeping the Old Covenant of the Law, (which is all they had from God), he would not face the wrath of God and die as Aaron and Moses did for their disobedience to God in not keeping the Old Covenant of the Law: Num. 27: 12 And the LORD said unto Moses, Get thee up into this mount Abarim, and see the land which I have given unto the children of Israel. 13 And when thou hast seen it, thou also shalt be gathered unto thy people, as Aaron thy brother was gathered. 14 For ye rebelled against my commandment in the desert of Zin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify me at the water before their eyes: that is the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.

Moses never preached that the Old Covenant of the Law would make anyone permanently righteous in the sight of God. Here is the truth, preached by our Saviour Jesus Christ: Jhn 5:46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.

Luk 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

Gal 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, THEN CHRIST IS DEAD IN VAIN.

See Galatians 3, which explains God’s purposes for the Law; and how Jesus Christ has delivered us from it for all time. Feel free to study on your own the numerous verses that fully declare that Jesus Christ is the eternal Saviour and final sole source of eternal salvation for all time for all who believe in Him. See John 14:6.

Anyone willfully claiming salvation based on keeping the Old Covenant of the Law and/ or combining it with the New Covenant of Jesus Christ, or anything else is not considered a Christian according to the Bible.

Gal 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, THEN CHRIST IS DEAD IN VAIN.

Gal 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the CURSE: for it is written, CURSED is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. 11 But that NO MAN is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

          1Ti. 1:5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:6 From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;
7 Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.

1Ti 1:9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine; 11 According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

THE NEW COVENANT OF JESUS CHRIST

CHRIST’S ONE SACRIFICE ONCE FOR ALL

    Heb 8:10

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know mefrom the least to the greatest.

Heb 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and

their iniquities will I remember no more.

JESUS TEACHES US THAT BOTH HIS BODY AND BLOOD WAS NECESSARY TO MAKE AND COMPLETE THE ATONEMENT. Mat 26:26-28

The New Covenant is an absolute, eternal unchanging blood covenant, is finished for all time, Jesus Christ its Word, Saviour, Mediator, High Priest, HEAD OF THE CHURCH, and Absolute Supreme Standard. He is the absolute gospel with all of His doctrines, principals, and boundaries which are rooted, ratified, unchanging, and set for all time, by and in the will of God the Father. Holy brethren, we know that we must keep this fresh and not let it slip. This is all a part of our spiritual food, eat it all.

CURSED ARE ALL WHO ADD TO OR TAKE AWAY FROM THIS NEW COVENANT: Gal 1:8-9.

Holy people, let us continually keep in remembrance and understanding that all of our works or knowledge, regardless of how great, is worthless to God without faith that works by love, and can never please Him:  Gal 5:6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Brothers and sisters, let us the holy royal family/priests of God through King Jesus our Saviour/High Priest and Lord give abundant/fervent love, thanks, praise and blessings to God our Father for His love, truth, strength and mercy who sent His only begotten Son Lord Jesus Christ who paid in full for all of our sins forever, for He is worthy. May His Name be blessed forevermore.

Holy brethren, please I pray you always take time to read the New Covenant whenever it is given preceding my posts, look at it in the scriptures, listen to audio recordings of it at every opportunity along with continually reading the whole Bible. Let’s keep it lifted up in our minds often, as there could be no gospel without this New Covenant.

The identity, authority, and power of the church is contained within it and so much more. Let us get it off the page and into our hearts and minds as God intends. We know that knowing the scriptures is not automatic. Some believers, new and old can be ignorant of it for many, many years, even those in the pulpit. But there is no shame as no one need stay ignorant, the righteous will gladly receive the word/correction but the wicked never will.

There are some who think in error that a preacher especially ought to automatically know the scriptures, but this is just not true:

Rom 10:14 - How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

Only the prophets and certain others had knowledge of the full scriptures directly from God in the Old Testament, and the apostles directly through Jesus Christ in the New Testament. There after they taught it to others who were to go on to teach others   so that the gospel would spread throughout the whole world.

A young woman approached me saying on account of Christians her lifestyle wasn’t accepted. I assured the young lady of my love, care, and concern for her. I asked her if she would let anyone in her home who told her that they intended to spit on her floor each time they visited. She said no. She then agreed with me that the owners of their homes had every right to set conditions for entry into their homes.

I didn’t argue with her over her lifestyle but explained to her that I was one of the many messengers of God’s house, not the owner- that God is the permanent owner of His house and everyone and everything in it. Therefore, the messengers have no power to either let people in or keep them out as that power belongs only to God who receives all who come to Him believing in His Son Jesus Christ.

The wind seemed to have gone out of her as she accepted the truth, but did not want to change her lifestyle. However, in leaving, she wanted to know if God would save the animals of the earth which are being killed and mistreated by people. I assured her that God would restore all creation including the animals and create a new heaven and earth where neither animals nor people would ever suffer mistreatment again.

We know the Bible is not an argument it is an eternal and final New Covenant, the declaration of God to and for all mankind. We know that we are the messengers, we cannot argue people into heaven nor save anyone, but we all can freely give the message:1Co 3:7 - So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

     STUDIES IN HEBREWS

    CHAPTER 12 VS 15

Saints, (G40 hagios) as always, much love, blessings and deep appreciation for your patiently sitting with me at the Lord’s table. We go on with the study actively attuned to God’s leadings with open Bibles physical or electronic, pen and paper, recorder, or note pad to keep in mind anything that the Holy Spirit might give to us for our learning, comfort, growth.

We keep focused where Paul the apostle leads us that the Hebrew believers and us too are to be encouraged by the long line of believers of the past, Lord Jesus our supreme example, who were not slothful in remembering God’s word, PATIENTLY KEPT the faith, were not overcome by their trials/persecutions nor tripped up in the race set by God before them due to the lusts of their own fleshly sinful appetites. However we absolutely know that Lord Jesus never sinned and had no sin in Him.

We also keep in mind that God’s chastisement is from our loving Father to discipline/correct/instruct His children and has nothing to do with abuse; nor does He send persecution/trials to punish us. He does allow them within limits to test, try, and prove our faith. Persecutions/trials come to all Christians because the world hates both God and His people: 1Co 10:13; 1Pe 1:7; 1Co 11:32.

Only Christians will appear before the judgment seat of Christ to receive a reward or a spanking for the works we did or did not do in the body: 2Co 5:10;1Pe 4:17. Christians will never be judged with the world: 1Co 11:32 - But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

    Heb 12:15Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

Looking diligently: to look upon, inspect, oversee, look after, care for; to look carefully, beware.

Brothers and sisters, the devil can tempt us, but he cannot make us sin. Paul is addressing our own sinful choices, inclinations towards sin:  1Co 10:13. If the devil was responsible for our sins, God would have to abolish hell and that is never going to happen. However, God is ever near to help us when we are tempted by our own lusts for that which God forbids. We are accountable/responsible to God and one another for how we live. God expects us to mature and grow in self- control/self- discipline.  Living holy lives in the body is not a part time work:  Rom 12:1.

We are all to agressively meticulously, and conscientiously watch over ourselves and one another that we should not fail to fully align ourselves in word and deed with the love, truth, faith, and obedience that accompanies grace, out of love and trust in God.

Pleasing our God out of love and trust in Him ought to be the main driving force and motivation throughout our entire lives in everything we say and do-put God first, not ourselves, children of the living God.

We have the whole of scriptures to understand without question that God commands/empowers us to attain self- control/self- mastery. Paul speaking of himself declares:  1Co 9:27

But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

This is not about physically harming ourselves or anyone else, dearly beloveds, but laying aside sin- a preventative stance to keep ourselves and aid others too from damaging themselves or others due to lack of self- control/self- mastery.

Keep under: keep under control; to beat black and blue, to smite so as to cause bruises and livid spots, like a boxer one buffets his body, handle it roughly, discipline by hardships, beat one out, wear one out.

Paul is not speaking of these Hebrew believers falling away in apostasy, but falling short of living within Gods standard of the godly conduct that He commands of all Christians. Fail: to be later, i.e. (by implication) to be inferior; generally, to fall short (be deficient):—come behind (short), be destitute, fail, lack, suffer need, (be in) want, be the worse.

The natural man or our old nature must be ruthlessly killed mentally/emotionally, through the spiritual power God gives to all believers as it can never be reasoned with: Feel free to see this whole chapter, brethren: Col 3:5.

Paul was not playing around with anyone about laying aside sin. Don’t expect our old nature to go down without a fight, prepare to work up a sweat for a while if necessary as it often is. Raise your hands, brethren, if sometimes the only way you could overcome a sin was by fleeing from it. I raised mine a couple of times, but less so going forward: 1Co 6:18; 1Co 10:14; 2Ti 2:22. Feel free holy people to study further on your own put on, put off, put away. Let us get the Word off the page into us by practicing it and receiving its spiritual benefits and strengths as our reward from God to those diligently seeking to please Him out of love and trust.

Bitterness is a sin, dearly beloveds. It happens when we allow our hidden disappointments to germinate into deep resentment, and grievous anger as we nurse grudges over past hurts, or not obtaining what we feel we deserve.

Bitterness is a toxic poison that kept hidden in our hearts and minds germinates into anger, jealousy, greed, dissension, and immorality of every form, that springs out in unseemly conduct injurious to the body of Christ. I think about the brother who has father issues and has problems with any authority, resents the overseers and stirs up distrust of them within the body as one example, but there are too many to posts.

    Heb 12:15Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

ROOT: a root, that which like a root springs from a root, a sprout, shoot. Metaph. offspring, progeny.

Bitterness: to make bitter, to produce a bitter taste in the stomach, to embitter. Exasperate, render angry, indignant, deep resentment, hatred, to be embittered, irritated, to visit with bitterness, to grieve (deal bitterly with).

    The Bible gives many examples of how the body is troubled and defiled by unchecked bitterness amongst Christians: Col 3:19; Jas 3:11; Jas 3:14, Jas 3:15; Jas 3:16;

Paul instructs us to lay aside every weight and the sin. This is because God gives us power, we do not have to choose to practice any sin: See Rom 6:12- 13

Again, Paul is not addressing the defilement that arises out of apostasy, (Act 8:23; 1Co 3:17), but ungodly conduct that God has given us the power to overcome/correct/cause to cease when it appears within us or amongst us, for he teaches:

Eph:4:31Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and

clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

Eph 4:32 - And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

In the above verses Paul, again, dearly beloveds, helps us understand God’s command to the church is that we must deal with any issues that we have of deep disappointment, hurt, and anger rather than let it fester into a grudge. We have the God given power to lay aside bitterness should it arise within or amongst us by putting into practice love, forgiveness and kindness towards one another. GOD’S WAY IS THE ONLY RIGHT WAY AND THE ONLY RIGHT WAY IS GOD’S WAYLet us take this spiritual medicine regularly by saying it until we know that we really mean it from our hearts to God.

    STUDIES IN HEBREWS

    CHAPTER 12 VS 14

Brothers and sisters, as the eternal royal family of God of both Jew and gentile of every nation, race, creed, made one in Christ, let us continually give our offerings of love, thanks, blessings, and praises to King Jesus Christ God the Son of God, who is both the Author and Finisher of our faith, by whom we have received grace and acceptance as sons and daughters in God the Father, and God the Holy Ghost.

Much love and peace to you, brothers and sisters, dearly beloveds, and fellow foot washers in Christ.

We know that although Paul is teaching here topically on God’s commands. He clearly helps us to understand scripture within the framework of the whole of scripture from the beginning, the covenants, and end times. Otherwise, they become just a tiresome endless to do or not lists of commands that we do not fully understand and therefore do not comprehend the framework of their purposes or how we are to apply or operate within them.

It is important to divest ourselves from seeing ourselves any longer in merely a secular sense as spectators reading about holy people of long ago, of a High distant God in a kingdom far away. We must instead CONNECT, CONNECT, CONNECT ourselves spiritually/purposely to God’s perspective or to His eternal viewpoint not only as brothers and sisters, but also as the priesthood of all believers, under our Great High Priest/Saviour/Mediator/King, Lord Jesus Christ who is near to us even in us making us one in Him in God:

1Pe 2:9 - But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

1Co 6:19 - What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

1Co 6:20 - For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spiritwhich are God's.

Our Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ bought not only our spirits but our physical bodies too, that we should live in righteousness upon the earth doing His will out of love and faith in Him. There is no need as some have done in this present time who go about looking scary, wearing sackcloth and ashes on their faces walking the streets hollering through amped up mikes at everybody, threatening that they should repent or be destroyed. Nor should we be as some who are content to be saved but see no need to ever open their mouths to witness/share the gospel to the lost in a dead and dying world, that those who hear might believe and be saved.

We, the body as a whole, dearly beloveds, are all priests, although we do not all hold the same office, some such as overseers, having the greater responsibility, although all are responsible to God and one another. The general duties of all priests-minister/worship, care for families, or single, live, work, doing good works, play, have fun, suffer persecutions/difficulties, all within their office as priests, while undergoing training/practicing in righteousness, by the power of God. We know none of this automatically, it must be taught.

Paul takes these Hebrew believers and us also into the rigors of our training as priests in/throughout our ordinary everyday lives. Note there is no need for special “priestly” clothing or jewelry, no need to have fancy letters behind our names, no need to have a certain amount of money, or none, nor to look a certain way or be from a certain race or country. No all who believe are welcome in Christ. Our goal at all times is to glorify God alone who is worthy, not ourselves.

Heb 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

We know, saints (G40 hagios) that none of us should be troublemakers, quick to threaten and/or to start a fight or dispute, whom others have to walk around on eggshells. If any amongst us are like that God commands that we repent ( lay aside) this sin and come in peace doing things God’s way and no longer our own way out of love and trust in Him.

We understand too that some do not want to be at peace with us therefore the word of God counsels:

Rom 12:18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

Being at peace, we know, never means that we should be doormats, or compromise our faith with the world: Jas 4:4 - Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

Being holy, brothers and sisters, seems scary and impossible to some. Some might even in error think that nobody can be holy because we are all sinners who still sin sometimes. Those who in error think this way ignore/bypass Heb 8:12. Nor do they know the power of God nor understand that the atoning sinless blood of the Christ has made all believers holy, able and willing to be trained in righteousness as His priests on earth.

God, holy brethren, is explicit, He gives NO ONE any excuses nor opt outs on being holy. No one shall ever enter heaven who is not holy:

    1Pe 1:15 - But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;

1Pe 1:16 - Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

Brothers and sisters, we know that there are many well experienced in living holy lives, let any who have not begun start today without any delay knowing Jesus is with us all every step of the way. When we arise up in the morning let us put on Christ and represent Him as His priests, reflecting Him in our character, conduct, and conversation before all men, in this present evil world, and this we will do by the power of God: Phl 4:13 - I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

We know, dearly beloveds, that the veil of the New Covenant temple is the body of our great High Priest/Saviour/Mediator/King, God the Son of God Jesus Christ, through whom we enter into heaven itself into the very presence of God our Father in the Holy of Holies, for our conversation is in heaven: Heb 10:19-23; Phl 3:20; 1Jo 4:17;  Rom 8:26;  Rom 8:34. If this doesn’t blow our minds nothing ever will.

Therefore, we have confidence in our God and boldly, humbly go to Him with our prayers, supplications and requests of all kinds and find help in our times of need, in full assurance He will hear us. Brothers and sisters, let us not hesitate to open our mouths and hearts in prayer to God Almighty early and often for all men, the brethren, and all matters.

As we return to the study, dearly beloveds, let us firmly lay hold on the love and truth of God, which can only be known through Him in His Word, correctly interpreted and lived out of love and trust in Him. Let us connect proactively feasting liberally on the Word of God which builds us up and feeds our spirits. Let us pull out our Bibles paper/electronic etc. As the Spirit leads us take notes, pray for brothers and sisters or any matter, and meditate/apply anything to ourselves that the Holy Ghost indicates we need: 1Pe 5:7. There is no need to leave the Lord's table empty handed, take-out meals are highly approved by God.

In the midst of our lives in this present evil world, saints (G40 hagios), we continue the race that God has set before us, as He set the same for the long line of believers before us, who remained faithful even in all their temptations and trials, and He expects the same of us by His power.  We are empowered by the Holy Spirit to lay aside every weight and sin, to keep on running our race to the end looking at and with Lord Jesus our supreme example of fidelity, love and trust in God His Father.

God through the apostle Paul gives us a stunning, deep intimate, powerful exposition, tour de force expedition into the very spirit, heart and mind of God the Son of God Jesus Christ in His humility, splendor and glory as God the Son, in the intimacy of His sinless humanity, and the unlimited eternal power of His love, truth and authority.

We come to know Him, learn Him deeply and well. We know His correction has nothing to do with abuse nor punishment, nor the sending of any form of calamity upon us. Therefore, we have no need to be suspicious of Him, or doubt His goodness towards us in any way or manner whatsoever, but gladly receive the blessings of His loving discipline as authentic sons and daughters.

Being brought so near to God, we see with our spiritual minds and hearts that He is in us as individual believers, and the body as a whole. The question, how and by what means does God discipline/train/correct His children? The only correct answer is: 2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17

That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

It is absolutely clear that God deals with His children within the Standard of Christ within the boundaries of the New Covenant of Jesus Christ, correctly interpreted and lived faithfully.

Heb 12:11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. 12Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; 13And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.

    Job 5:17; Pro 3:11; Pro 3:12.

Exercised: to train, to exercise vigorously, in any way, either the body or the mind.

We know, God is our Father, holy brethren, just as with our earthly fathers, God’s correction also hurts, stings, shames us. Initially it feels awful-makes us sorrowful to know that our sinful behavior or misdeeds have caused us to be in need of God’s loving disciplinary/corrective hand. Some of our sins can be secret from others, and some can be seen openly by others: Psa 90:8; Ecc 12:14. However, nothing can be hidden from God.

    Heb 4:12

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

    Heb 4:13

Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

In correctly understanding the purposes of God’s loving discipline, brothers and sisters, we learn habitually to quickly trust, not doubt His love, but to whole heartedly and fully grasp the lessons that He teaches us, which trains/keeps us walking in His straight path of righteousness greatly encouraged with joy restored in that we have brought joy to Him by not trusting in ourselves, but trusting in Him out of love.  However, if any meets God’s loving discipline/correction with unrepentant on- going doubt, suspicion, resentment and anger, all such persons have revealed themselves to be bastards and not sons.

God expects us to first examine ourselves, to be responsible and accountable to Him and one another. We have God’s spiritual DNA within us. Through faith in Lord Jesus Christ, He has made us new creations in Him, new spirits, new, hearts, and minds. There are various ways, different levels and tools that God uses/allows to correct us. Raise your hand brethren if any amongst us have ever experienced our new consciences afflicting us badly for doing something we know that God forbids, making our hearts hurt so badly because we know we are hurting Him who has given us everything, which brings us to our knees in repentance and submission choosing His will over our own out of love and trust in Him rather than ourselves. Brothers and sisters, I had to raise mine a couple of times, but a lot less moving forward, thanks be to God: Heb 9:14.
