"Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it. (John 14:13-14)
After some brief time in prayer, I read John chapter 14. When I got to these verses they seemed to jump from the page. Most Christians are familiar with the Lord’s command to ask in His name and He will do it. What really struck me was the fact that He felt the need to repeat Himself in the very next sentence. This was obviously a point that needed to be driven home.
How many times have we taken our petitions to Him, knowing that He loves and cares for us, but not completely expecting a direct answer. Or, in our minds we are already thinking of a way to justify a non response from Him.
I probably have been guilty of this, in fact, I must have been guilty of this, which is why the Lord made His Word just jump right off the page at me. When I really look at those two verses, how can I not come to Him in confidence? My prayers can, and should, be said with full assurance that His word is true, regardless of my circumstances or how I feel. Praise His Holy name.
