I still shutter when I think about the time I wasted thinking I was saved because somebody dunked me in water. I thank God,  for those who preach the truth of the Bible. Incorrect teaching of scripture is dangerous and hinders people from actually being saved. The Bible is very unapologetically harsh about anybody preaching a false gospel message:

6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

    Gal 1:6-9 (KJV)

John, the forerunner of Jesus Christ offered water baptism of repentance as a sign to them that already believed, and to prepare them for the gospel Messenger Jesus Christ. Water baptism still remains as an ordinance of the church offered to them who  are aready saved, shows public identification wtih Christ.

Who is greater John the baptist,  or Jesus Christ? Who can take away our sins, John the baptist or Jesus Christ? The answer for both is Jesus Christ. Did Jesus Christ tell us that He saves us by water baptism? No, Jesus is the only way to God.

And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. 5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

    Acts 1:3-5 (KJV)

After the ascension of Jesus Christ He shed fortth the Holy Spirit to fill all who believe in Him:  1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

    Acts 2:1-4 (KJV)

Some states have changed the definition of marriage from a union of a man and a woman to a union between two persons. This would allow same sex couples to receive most if not all the benefits of traditional marriages under that particular state's law. The ramification of this change is very great. Say a woman, has a sex change to become a man, but keeps her female organs. She marries a woman, but has herself artificially inseminated becomes pregnant and bares a child. Even though she has been officially declared a man, on the birth certificate she would have to be listed as the mother. Not only that since all children born within a marriage are considered the children of the father, she would also be listed as the father. Next there would have to be a change of birth certificate from mother and father to "parent (s) of child to avoid "discrimination". The term mother and father would be eliminated, and only the term parent (s) used. I know this might seem far fetched, but you ain't seen nothin" yet. All this madness and much, much more will come out of refusing to accept God's natural law, since the beginning of time: Genesis Male and Female made He them.

I am in a Bible believing church now. I found a world of difference that I never found in the baptist denomination. Looking back on my time in the "baptist church" I met a lot of lovely caring people. The pastor told me to be saved, I had to be immersed in water. I looked forward to being "saved" and readily was baptized by being immersed totally in water. The church assured me I was now saved, but I thought to myself that I was still not saved. I felt something was wrong me, I felt God had still not accepted me. As time went on, I continued to go to the "baptist" church", I read the "baptist gospel" and studied the "baptist doctrine". Like the whole denomination I was careful to only fellowship with other baptists. I enjoyed meeting with other baptists, but the time came that none of this seemed enough, I felt so empty. I looked at my life, and knew I was not living, or even thinking like a "saved baptist" should.

The pastor was really nice, and really caring about the people. But the sermons were a hodgepod of just "stuff", followed by a lot of announcements about baptists activities. I did not feel fed. I had suffered from a deep and severe depression much of my life, and it became incredibley worse as time went on and now it was coupled with loneliness and emptiness. Although I had a lot of people in my life-I now began to suspect that I did not have God, and that water baptistism had not saved me at all. I opened up the Bible and was not able to make any sense of it, I was totally dependent on the pastor to tell me what God said. Looking back on it now, I know he did not know anymore about the Bible than I did. He was sincere, but he was as sincerely ignorant and wrong as I.

In the baptist church, I found tremendous opportunities for socialization, activities and made many friendships. There was a lot of tradition that could make a person feel pretty comfortable. I think a lot of people can get sucked into a church based on this alone. Nevertheless it was just not enough, I wanted God, I wanted Jesus in my life, but they were not there, and I was not sure why. I came to the conclusion I was not saved. After finding out that no denomination could save me, I began to search for a Bible believing church. This search took me to a number of churches. I was so ignorant about salvation, I thought just going to church made me a child of God. Strangely none of these churches actually told me how to be saved. I was so ignorant, I did not even know to ask such a question. Most of them offered various things such as : the right hand of fellowship; and membership to become part of the church.

I soon found out that no sooner than I had accepted these things, I was now roped into various things mostly financial, such as tithing,  or bound to pay a certain amount of money monthly. Don"t get me wrong, I believe in supporting the church consistently, and to the best of my ability. I knew none of these things had actually saved me, nor could they.

I eventually found a Bible believing church. The pastor was very dilligent in witnessing, and explaining salvation. I heard and believed the true gospel message for the first time in my life: God sent His Son Jesus Christ to save sinners. Jesus Christ had shed His blood and died on the cross for my sins and rose again. If I believed what Jesus had done for me He would save me, forgive me, wash me from all my sins and make me a child of God. No man can be saved except through Jesus Christ. Saved, I was truly saved at last. There was no "membership" required, only those who believed in Jesus Christ could be accepted as a part of the church body. Only God through faith in Jesus can make us members of God's whole family, not church attendance. My life began to change over time. I now opened my Bible and God's word revealed themselves to me. I now understood what the Bible said, and soon discovered the Old and New Testament Covenants were not one and the same. I now found out that I was a Christian under the New Covenant, the Old Testament and its  Covenant remains relevant for God's purposes to the church, with its detailed history of God and His family, and relationship with mankind as a whole. But salvation is of the New Covenant alone, and Jesus Christ is the head of the church. I can only follow leaders who actually teach and live the word of God, because God alone is my first priority forever, and I will please Him above men.

I would warn anybody, that attaching rules, tradition, or denomination to be saved is error. Seemingly I gave up a lot to leave the baptist church, but in truth it was nothing at all for I gained everything when I found, better was found of Jesus who saved me. The many years I had suffered from severe depression grew less and less and finally left me forever. God had accepted me when Jesus saved me and they with the Holy Spirit came to be with me and live in me. All the loneliness and emptiness and sadness I had felt left me forever. I was found by the One my heart had ached for so long.

Every day has been a day of happiness, and yes on occasion  some things can make me feel sad, but whatever sadness befalls me I go to Jesus who takes it away. Every day has been a day of discovery, through the Bible God teaches me somehing new and wonderful. And the love, oh the love of God, fills me with hope and thankfulness. God has made my life so much better than I could ever hope for as He teaches me how He wants me to love and serve Him. I warn you who are trusting your denomination to save you- it will not, no denomination can. I warn you who are trusting in your denomination to be somebody or to be accepted, it still won't get you to heaven. Jesus Christ is the only way to be saved.
