The Lord wants to reach out to every nation, tribe, and tongue. Let's enjoy the company of others from every nation, tribe, and tongue. "God is not willing that anyone should perish but all come to repentance." Let's have God's heart.

    Blog update

    Dear Friends & relatives,

There is so much to tell you. So I thought that I would review the prayer items from last time and tell you what God has done as well as more prayer items.
    1. My health is quite good. However, my diabetes is still not good. It is getting better though.
    2. 12 December I spoke at WenZao University in an open air forum. This was the first time I spoke totally in Chinese. I did make a mistake though. Recently I've been learning some Taiwanese at school. So sometimes my tongue says something that it shouldn't. I said pai sei instead of pai so. The first is Taiwanese which means "I'm embarrassed". The second means "clap". It is good to learn to laugh at yourself sometimes.
    3. 15 December was a fantastic time at the youth center. I sang and God was honored. Also, one of the tribal groups performed. They were fantastic. They did the classic Hallelujia chorus. They also did a fantastic tribal dance. I was really blessed. I don't know who was drawn to Jesus but I can't help but think that people had to be drawn to Him.
    4. 16 December I was a FengShan Free Methodist church with other pastors and teachers sharing about the Advent Wreath and other Christmas traditions. That went quite well. We also sang many Christmas songs.
    5. 19 December at Ping Dong Christian Hospital teaching chaplains was canceled. We met this week instead. We spoke about "God with us." I really enjoy working with these chaplains. They are in the front lines ministering to people who may or may not know Jesus. Their hearts are tender. They are great learners. They work very hard. Please continue to pray for them as they minister to the sick and dying and their families.
    6. 21 December we had a great Christmas Party at my language school, TLI. More than 50 people came. The director said that she was extremely pleased with the turn out. The people enjoyed my cooking: turkey, stuffing, marshmallow salad, gravy, and mashed potatoes. Other people brought other items. Wednesday mornings at TLI we've had wonderful time of prayer. We are averaging from 12 to 17 people regularly. God has been answering our prayers as well. Praise the Lord!!!
    8. One of the teachers, teacher Yu, has asked me to have a Bible Study with her on Wednesday mornings prior to our prayer meeting. So, our first session was this last Wednesday. It was great. We are studying the parables of Jesus. She is a new Believer.
    9. 23 December we had English worship and a Christmas party at my home. There were around 25+ people who came. We spoke about "God with us" and asked the question how do you know that God is with us. We read Scripture and sang some Christmas songs. A young man from South Africa and His friend Hanna from Finland also came. An elderly man from Canada came as well. Many young people came. I know that some were touched by the Lord. There were tears in their eyes.
    10. Also, I did the cooking. I made two pork roasts. This was the first time that I bought meet fresh from the butcher as he literally cut the meat from the pig directly, right off the hoof. I did as one of my teachers instructed. I put the meat in salt water for about three days in the refrigerator. After cooking it with pineapple and marishino cherries, it literally was so moist it fell apart. It was great. The food went fast. Some people stayed longer to view a Chinese/English video about Jesus birth.
    11. 30 December pastor switched the prayer meeting from my house to the church. It was great. There was much singing, praying, and breaking of bread (communion). I was asked to lead in English some English songs. As the clock struck 12:00 we finished with the final stanza "Our God is an awesome God." There was much joy and clapping as we entered the new year with God's total direction and guidance.
    12. Cell groups have started and they are having great success.
    13. Last Sunday we changed the English worship service to Sunday 8:00 a.m. I'm not sure where this is going and if it will continue. I really need God's wisdom and guidance about this. We will reconsider this in May before I go to the U.S.
We are planning two mission trips:
    A. One is to TaiDong and minister to seminarians there with the OMF method of Bible Story Telling as a method to reach people for Jesus.
    B. The other is to the Philippines sometime in the end of August for one week. I'm not sure what island as of yet or what we will do there. Please pray for us as we are finding out more information about this trip.
    14. I leave for the States 22 May and return 25 June. I could use your prayer for a restful and productive time there.
    15. I've started another discipleship class at a mission center in Kaohsiung. These people are older adults from 30 to more than 60 years old. This is an exciting group. As I was praying God gave me a dream with an outline for discipleship for them and others here in Taiwan. We've had a good first start this last Tuesday evening.
    16. While I was there a man approached me about being a bible teacher for their Broadcasting network on-air. I'm praying about it. I don't know yet if this is of God. I will find out more next Tuesday. I don't know if it is TV or radio. If it is radio I'm more inclined to do it since I've had some experience with radio in the past.
    17. Pastor Rose has asked me to run a discipleship course for her church. She really is in charge of four churches. I'm also praying about this. So, I also am encouraging her to have her leaders be discipled. I told her that if I did it I wanted her to be there to help with the translation and for her and her leaders to continue discipling people when I'm not there.
    18. We have a store called Costco. Many foreigners like to go there because they have food from the States and other items. Well the turkeys arrived late (after the new year) so many of us bought many turkeys after the New Year. 12 pound turkeys were about $10 USD. It was great. It even went down to about $3 USD. But I didn't know about it in time. That kind of word spreads like wildfire. A friend of mine has four freezers with much room. So we storied many turkeys there. It was actually cheaper than chicken.
    19. Starting in March we will be having a Beginning English Bible study each Thursday evening from 6:30 to 7:30. Then level two Bible study will be from 8:00 to 9:00. These classes will run for 8 weeks at a stretch. They will continue in the summer.
    20. Right now I'm teaching a husband and wife couple from 5:00 to 6:00 Thursdays at their home. I'm hoping that when we start these classes they can come so that I won't be running wild from one place to another.
    21. At the end of February or the beginning of March I've been asked to teach at Higher Ground Church each Monday morning for four weeks on the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. This is a Filipino church. Each session will be four hours in length.
    22. At my church the discipleship group will be taking a quantum leap in their discipleship class. Please pray for them. They are becoming more and more busy with work and have less and less time to prepare.
PRAISE THE LORD!!!!!  Our Church has just appointed its first deacons and deaconesses.  There are seven.  Also, we have four new board members.  This is a great praise.  God is moving in our church.  Please continue to pray for these leaders and the new cell group leaders as well.
Hopefully this will give you enough to pray about and praise God about. Here are a couple more items for prayer:
    1. There is a Filipino lady who is accused of killing her broker. This is not the case but it is very difficult to prove.
    2. I asked you to pray for Annie who had three brain surgeries. Her broker has taken her out of the hospital to his home. Pastor Chris, a Filipino pastor, has not been able to be in contact with her. Her sister is there with her helping her. She can lift up her head now. It is usually the practice of the brokers to send these workers back to their country without complete care. Please pray that this willnot happen to her and her sister.
    3. I really need God's wisdom on what to say yes and no to.

May God bless all of you this coming new year! Please let me know how I can pray for you.
