Lord, Make My Words Be Few

" Lord, help me control my tongue; help me be careful about what to say." Psalm 141:3

There's wisdom in knowing when to talk and when to keep silent. Unfortunately, most of us are uncomfortable with silence that we usually speak whatever comes through our mind unmindful of how our words affect those who listen. I am usually a quiet person, but when provoked, I can be blunt. I consider this as weakness. Yet, there are people who need to be told to make them aware of some things that are not pleasant. No matter how we love somebody, we can say words that hurt, even at the best intention of our hearts. The Bible says that wise people use knowledge when they speak in contrast to the fools who pour out careless talk and gossips. Words can build, they can also destroy.

Lord, help me to be slow to speak but quick to listen. Show me understanding that I may be gentle and kind in my communication with others. May Your Word be continually in my lips. In Jesus Name, Amen.

    Why I Blog

In this age of modern technology, people can easily communicate in many ways like a buffet of delicacies that you can choose from, whatever suit  your taste:  MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, friendster, etc..  Teenagers do it, though it can be risky, yet parents do it too. We hardly communicate face to face anymore while emails and texting can be done and edited without the fear of someone reading our non verbal expressions.

This is a free country right? But there are times we can use and abuse our freedom of expression by sharing too much of a good thing or not very good things for that matter. It's amazing what a simple blog can do. For me, it helps releases a thick cloud of ideas, insights, opinions, baggage of emotions, revelations, with the intention of sharing, with the goal of encouraging and blessing someone who has all the time in the world to sit down and pause and read and actually digest what they read. I don't just spend my time emailing or blogging someone with the intention of wasting their time. You see, I have a goal. My writing has a purpose. It is to yield to the calling that God has for me.  What is yours?

I know people who has the extraordinary gift of writing, that I cringed everytime I compare my own to theirs. Any 5th grader can read even correct my writing for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and understand what I want to convey. But I am at awe with those who has the knowledge of precise writing, and talent to say what they want in the most deep vocabulary, yet only waste them in communicating with others with careless words, and senseless talk. Gossiping is as easy as ABC in emailing and texting, but be warned. It can also be forwarded to anyone.

I like the idea of blogging if I can bless and encourage someone and make their day a little brighter. I am hoping I have fulfilled my goal today.

    Write on!

God gives grace to the humble

"God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble."  James 4:6

When God convicts me about something, I write about it, believing that by sharing them with others, God will not only bless others but help me as well.

Last night, as I was reading a book about Grace, it talks about how God opposes the proud and gives grace to the humble as it says in James 4:6. How many humble people do you know?  It made me search within and asked, "How humble am I?"

I cringed when I realized that there are only very few humble people I know. I have to be honest to say that I am not humble at all times.  When things are going well, I tend to be proud. Proud of my achievements, my talents and abilities, and it humbled me to think that without God, I am really nothing. Everything will pass away, but the Word of God lasts forever.

If you are a Christian who knows so much about Bible and everything there is to learn about God, watch out!  Pride is waiting in the front door of your mind. Self-righteousness can set in. It's even easy to be cynical of the baby Christians, of the weak and the timid.

The true followers of Christ are those who "follows" His example.  He exemplifies true humility by being a humble servant to the point of death even to the cross. And God, His Heavenly Father exalted him forever and now is living in the hearts of us who believes.

May God continue to give us insights and revelations as we walk together in this journey!

    To God be the glory!

    Amazing!!

Wow!! Amazing how God  speaks in my heart reminding me how much He loves me. You see, this morning when I woke up, my spirit is filled with the outpouring of His love . All I could utter in my prayer was "Lord, thank You for Your love!"  I didn't have to ask for anything because I feel His presence so close, His majesty enveloping me like a sweet embrace that won't let me go. Everything I see reminds me of His enduring, everlasting love.

I wrote a devotional today titled, "The Gift of Love."  Few hours after that, I came across a book that speaks of His gift of love. It says that God loves me no matter what, and just the way I am. I don't have to impress Him or do anything to earn that love. What a coincidence you may say. I believe it's God blessing me by acknowledging that indeed, He loves me very much.

Like a seed of faith planted in my heart that takes years and years to bloom and be fruitful, it's amazing how God works everything together for good to those of us who love Him and are called according to His purpose. I can only recall my past and the trials I encountered, and how He used them to make me humble and patient. that the present challenges I see now as heavenly opportunities.

Amazing grace, how sweet it is! There is no greater love than His!

    Gloria
